They also have an office in Stafford, Va. at the hospital. That is where I go now..and don't worry..i think I'm close to 9 ccs in my band as well...maybe 8? hmm....I am JUST now really getting restrictrion...maybe I'll lose some darn weight...it's been months! :cursing:

    Lap Band Rules and Weakness

I think it depends on what your putting out caloric wise...I went through fire school and did a bunch of extra stuff...1000-1200 calories of day didn't feel like anything to me, but I kept to that...I was way exhausted...definitely individually-based though...
  3. No..no..no..the best things about friends is they don't ALWAYS have to agree with you..you need someone to give you other points-of-views...respect your friend's opinions...but u don't have to like them one bit..if it's obvious you can't talk to her about the surgery find someone else to talk to...like all of us!!! lol.we can relate with you! don't give up your friends due to difference of opinions...but don't accept negative remarks either!
  4. I am a little over a yr. with my band. I told my surgeon this and he made me feel like it was my fault I was eating more on some days...and truthfully on some ways it is our fault..we do control what we eat...but even so the foods that are "supposed" to make us fuller do not ALWAYS have that affect...ugghh..darn you band! i got a fill, and i think i'm pretty high in my cc's now..so i DEF. fill a restriction..and the band is DEF. telling me no to foods it used to tell me yes too....trial and error...we will prevail..don't let the band beat you..:cursing:
  5. Yes, be careful when taking any kind of pills. I usually break mine in half, but there was one time that even the halfed pill hurt my chest pretty bad. I hope you feel better..We win some, we lose some..that time the band won.

    Chest pain?

Hi. I'm actually going through the same thing. I took half a pill the other day and my chest has been hurting as well. It's noticeable throughout the day, but it's not so bad I need emergency attention..it's just annoying...Hopefully both of our pain will subside soon...

    Can't get food down!!

I have to say that I am having the SAME exact problems with my throat...it started earlier today...I'm on my 2nd fill, and it's been about 3 weeks since I had my fill. God forbid, but it is Flu season..please, let us know what your surgeon said..I'm very curious to know!

    Chewing Gum . . .

lol..alrighty! i haven't had that problem as of yet, but maybe chewing some gum will help me alleviate some of this left-over gas from surgery!! lol...take care
  9. You and i both are still fresh out of surgery. Scarring does not happen until 6-8 wks out of surgery. Coughing or sneezing hurts for myself. If you have a fill and you are continously coughing ask the dr. for an un-fill. If you do not have a fill and have a bad cold you may want to try a cough suppressant...No unnecessary pressure on that band lady!
  10. i agree, monitor your body, and eating habits until monday. there are stitches on the inside to help the band stay in place...this is not saying they have ripped, but to be careful of your movements during the healing process...i pray all is well!

    Chewing Gum . . .

i was only told no gum BEFORE surgery..it cause 2 ounces of stomach acid to churn..that was surgery tho..ive had atleast 5 pieces of gum and i'm 9 days post-op..no problems...i even had a piece in my mouth talkn to the surgeon today...just be careful hun

    Stuck and Frustrated!!!!

ive been in that boat BEFORE i got my band..ive only been banded 3 days, but I can say it's not supposed to be easy, nor is it supposed to be extremely hard...we have to start all over...continue to increase exercise gradually and really take a look at what you're eating..if your diet is perfect, then focus on your exercise..if nothing happens after changes are made discuss it with your physician...every problem has a solution! hang in there!

    1 wk and starting mushies

hey you can do it!! i'm only 3 days post-op and im hungry as ever! but i wont eat anything im not supposed to right now! there are many protein shakes available, but see if u can get samples of BSNs-SYNTHA-6 or DESSERT..they have all the calories and protein you need, PLUS they are VERY delicious..HENCE, the protein shake line named DESSERT...also dont forget about SF pudding! soooo many diff. flavors! you'll be eating better in NO time! hang in there!

    Quick Question

pcp? primary care physician?? if so, it would benefit you to have one..you will be asked who ur pcp is all through your journey! plus, it helps to have a set physician for any of your needs before and after surgery.
  20. Hi. I'm scheduled for surgery next Tues. However, I received a phone call informing me that my PTT levels were increased. ( For those who may not know; this test allows drs. to see how fast a person clots if they are to become injured) I re-did my bloodwork today. Has anyone else encountered the same problem?? I just don't want my surgery date pushed back.

    Elevated PTT levels-plz help

thank you both for your response..No, Plain wouldn't want to take anti-coagulants since I'm already NOT clotting as fast...i'm hoping the tests were just wrong because my PTT leves were 10-15 seconds higher than lab recommendations..haven't had a phone call again yet! i'm praying for the best! thx folks!
