  1. I kept messing around with having my band too tight and my band slipped and my esphagus enlarged and I was completely obstructed . I couldn't even swollow my own saliva. I had been banded 3.5 years. Just got a new band Feb 9th. Don't take chances it's not worth it.
  2. Go get some South Beach cereal bars or a good pure protein bar.It will sartisfy you and give you the nutrrition you need at the same time.I had to try several before I found ones that met my needs.South Beach are 100 calories and 10 grams of protein and usually cheaper than other protein bars.
  3. Hi,I am really struggling with eating as well.I just bought protein powder from wallmart with 52 grams of protein in it,I can put it in hot water.I have a hard time eating in the morning and have resorted to soups and beans.I e-mailed indigo girl for some help.I have been banded 6 months and lost 48 pounds. It is harder now than in the beginning.
  4. Hi Janet ,I e-mailed you before and you advised me to get an unfill and I did.It made all the difference.I had surgery in June and have lost about 45 pounds.I am really struggling with my eating though.Whenever I try to eat meat my stomach hurts so bad and I usually end up throwing up.Most days I grind my beans and make a soup.It seems I can eat yogurt, soft foods and a small amout of fiber one cereal. I can almost never eat before 11. I have went back to a high protien shake (1 a day) because I know I am not getting enough protein. I don;t fill like I am too tight I just think I am starting to really learn about my band now.I think it is harder now than at first. I spent most of the holidays not eating much and feeling sick if I tried to eat much.I can honestly say when someone asks me what I'm hungry for it is usually soup. That seems to be the one safe thing for me. I know you have been banded for a long time and would appreciate any input you may have.Bless you for being so willing to help so many. Janet
  5. I have a sweet tooth as well. Maybe you could try some of the Atkins or South Beach Bars when you have those cravings. At least you will get in some protein,Hope that helps you as much as it does me.
  6. I really like this recipe.Cook your talipia in the micro or in a pan with a little olive oil or water.Put McCormicks Steak Seasoning on both sides. When finished cooking flake the fish and add salsa and green chili. May add a little cheese, fat free sour cream, avacado, etc. This recipes can be eaten cold or on salad or in a wrap .
  7. Hi I was banded June 1,2009 and have the same issue.I don't need to be reminded to eat.Iwish it would hurt after and not before eating.Still looking for the answer.
  8. I use cream of wheat with choc protein powder in it.This keeps me satisfied most of the morning.
  9. Try some cream of wheat with choc protein powder in it ymm keeps me full all morning
  10. Go to lapband.com and you can call and order a card.
  11. Hi ,My name is Janet and I was banded June 1st ,2009.My nutrition support told me to not take calcium and multivitamins together.Your body will only absorb 500 mg of calcium at one time so take a few and spread them out. Also, if you take multivitamins with calcium it decreases the calcium absorbtion. I have diabetes and am doing better now.I just had my first fill July 1st.they put in 4ccs (judged how much by the resistance on the band).I could not swallow water and so she took out .5cc.I am still on soft foods but, find the morning is the tightest.I could only eat three tater tots this am.(not my usual breakfast) and probably will not try it again, BAD ! I was wondering about how much food I should be able to eat once I am restricted?
  12. I just had surgery on June 1 I am still on aliquid diet Breakfast : greek yogurt with 1/4 c mandrian oranges Lunch: homemade chicken soup Pm snk: GNC berry shake with 1/4 c berries Supper:1/2 c chicken,1/4 c potatoes,1/4 c mixed vegetables(all ground in my magic bullet)You all must of had your surgery earlier than me I will graduate to mushies in one week Yeah!
  13. I started coughing thurs night and called my Dr this am.I have so much restriction.I can't eat very much.I am having trouble eating just what I'm susposed too! Funny!!! Last week I was starving. My blood sugar has been in the 90's all day ! I made alot of homemade soups and eat them at night as they have meat and veg in them.My Dr allows this at night but, they have to be pureed. safeway has a new protein shake out on sale now 4 cans for $5.they have 20 grm of protein in them.I have to have 60 grms a day.Sounds like you are doing good.I am so excited about this new journey.Let's keep in touch! Has your pain subsided in your shoulder? Mine is mimimal and am just on two tyenol now.Janet
  14. Just had surgery June 1.Did fine until two nights ago now when I lay down I start coughing.I am calling my Dr today.
  15. Try a heating pad , or those pads that heat up(disposable) on your shoulder it really helps.Walking will help with the air as well.
  16. Glad your doing so well.I was banded June 1 too! I feel alot better than expected.I am following my Dr's orders for the food (liquid diet) as I really want this band to heal so it can work for me later.Let us know how you do.
  17. I bought a six inch ace bandage and my husband had an old knee bandage with an ice pack holder in it.They were my best friend ,holding the ice bag and keeping my fat from jiggling as I walked after surgery.I think it should be a given for all patients. My surgeon didn't offer me anything but, the standard paper ice bag.
  18. I had my surgery on Monday. They put air around your stomach not in your intestines.Gas-x is for your intestines. It takes at least 7 days for your body to absorb the air you have in your body.Walking and a heating pad on your shoulder really helps. When your bowels start to work you might need gas-x.You can have alot of gas due to your intestines starting to work again.
  19. I don't know but,I was banded June 1 and woke up coughing.Hurt! Did a nasal flush and am sucking on a cough drop.It reaqlly hurts to cough and I don't want to undo anything.
  20. You can buy isosure at GNC, a liquid protein 40 grams a bottle. They come in different flavors. Those quick shots are not good quality protein though.(collegan)Uninjury unflavored isn't bad either.
  21. Had my surgery Monday.Thinking of you.Hope things went wellI know what you will be going through. It gets better
  22. I had my surgery June 1 too.I am really sore where the port is but, have been up walking every day.Keeping down the diet the Dr has me on and doing fairly well for what I've been through.Questions anyone?
  23. I am having surgery with Dr Brown in Denver ,Colo.Denver is four hours from my home.We are staying in Denver three days to make sure all is ok.I can have my fills in Grand Junction as he is starting to do surgeries there. It is only 2.5 hours away.He gives 2cc fill at four weeks.
  24. My surgery is June 1 ,2009 at 7:30 am.Hope yours goes well.I start clear liquids tomorrow. It is already starting to stress me out.I wish Monday was already here.It will be worth it though I'm sure.
