  1. I am to the point of just giving up. I had a band to sleeve revision on July 14th 2011. I lost 15 lbs on the liquid diet within the first two weeks.. That is all I have lost. This is not a stall. My concern is that I am still able to eat anything in any amount. I dont feel like my stomach is any smaller then it was before surgery. What can I do. How can I find out truthfully what was done to me. I have done the whole count calories, have joined weight watchers, I can lose 3 to 4 lbs only to gain it back the next week. I have been experiencing massive hair loss for the last 3 weeks. The last time that happened was when I was losing weight at about 5 lbs a week with the band. I'm not looking for the whole keep it up, it will happen replies or even the calories in calories out thing.. I want to know if if there are peolpe out there who have not experience any sort of change from having had the surgery. And if so, what did you do. Who can I contact to see what size my stomach is. the whole point of the sleeve was to help me portion control when I couldn't do it myself, well it doesn't. And it doesn't matter if I eat dense protien or if I eat slider foods.. HELP

Frustrated that the Sleeve is "just another diet"

I feel ya. I had a band to sleeve revision July 14 of this year. I have only gone from 249 to 233. I did that in the first two weeks while on liquids. I did the whole track it thing, walking and such. Lose nothing. Then splurge a day, lose a pound, only to gain it back when I restricted myself. I have lived on a restricted diet eating mostly like the aktins diet now for almost 4 years. I think my body is telling me enough is enough. I joined weight watchers this past week, just to try a healthy approach for the next month. Only time will tell. I will say also that I have never felt any restriction with my sleeve, am one of the few who wishes for the band back. I wish you well in your journey.
  3. I had my revision all in one surgery on July 14th. Did good the first ten days out, lost 15. Then the hunger set in. After reading on here about an acid blocker, I went back on the one sent home with me after surgery, didn't help. Moved on to nexium, nope no luck, am now on to OTC proposed, two pills, totally 40mg a day. Am still feeling the knowing feeling in my stomach. You know like how iy feels when you realize you've gone too long without eating.I have to stay under 1000 calories a day and still no weight loss, I can go for about a week before breaking down and just eating. That's the other problem too, I am feeling no restriction what so ever. This is my second was surgery and I feel like such a failure.
  4. An update on where I am at. I finally lost 2lbs this week. My surgeon has been awesome, she calls me each monday to help keep me motivated. I saw her 2 weeks ago and am due back on Oct 10th. We did the body mass thing when I was there two weeks ago. Am fatter now then I was in Dec 2010. I have lost lean muscle mass. I am now wearing weights on my ankles at work. I am a Store manager for LB and walk and stand all day.. think that has helped. She really wants me running, but I have always been scared of that. Am clumsy and have bad ankles...do not want to stumble and sprain. I am doing about 10 min on the elippical in the morning to start my metabolism and trying to walk at least 2miles each night after my child goes to sleep. (gramma lives with me so I can go do that without leaving him alone). Was strange this week.. I was doing really good.. getting in the protein and even upped my water to 120 oz., nothing was happening, then I went to an out of town meeting and blew my routine.. had way too many carbs and then lost the first lb... whats up with that.. I have also added in chromiun pic. to my pill regimen and am starting b6 today (heard that from someone at medi weight loss) we shall see how this next day goes...thank you all for your support... it really does help.

    Is this normal??

I had my band emptied in April with surgery in July.. Girl, my BMI went up 3 points..I figured oh,it will come off easy once i was sleeved...wrong..If I knew then what I know now...would have been stricter on my diet.. I thought the sleeve would be just like the band.. only able to eat small bits... for me that has not been the case.. I can eat anything and really have to track my daily intake.. and watch what I put in my mouth. Now I can't eat like before the band.. but I feel no restriction and dont feel anything unless I try to eat a full dinner plate of food. My surgeon says its because she stapled around the scar tissue left from the band, her office had had too many complications if they stapled over the scar tissue. So, I have more upper stomach left. GRRR!!! along with Ghrelin prodution.(Prilosec is a godsend for hunger pains). If I had it to do over again, would do the atkins diet for the time lapse between empty band and surgery with only few slips of those favorite meals. I would also talk to my surgeon on making my stomach as small as possible on the bottom to help with the extra left up top. Dr Islam has been great in working with me to figure out why I am not losing at 2 months out (am only down 15), seems that my body has gotten used to rstricted calories and my normal daily exercise and has slowed my metabolism down. I also have lost lean muscle mass in the last 9months. Am now on a strength training program to boot that back and hopefully start losing again. Work on building muscle now to help you afterwards burn more fat...

AM I GOING TO GAIN WAIT???

I know how you feel. I was the same. Always hungry. So far the proposed they talk about in the forums is not suppressing hunger for me. I am six weeks out and could eat anything and stll be hungry two hours later. Now, I am a band to sleeve revision and have more of my upper stomach due to band scar tissue. I'm lucky, my surgeon actually called me back yesterday after my email to her about the hunger. She told me I was not eating enough and not often enough. She is ok with me still having a protien shake for breakfast, like you, I am not a morning eater. She doesn't want it to have more then 110 calories with at least 15 protien. Then 3 hours later for a snack, a baby carrot, some celery sticks and cucumbers. 3 hours later at least 3oz lean meat with some broccoli. Another snack of veggies before I leave work, then dinner with meat and green veggies . If still hungry before bed. Half an apple for my sweet item. If said all of this is heavy dense protien and fiber rich food. Should fill me up and clean me out, so to speak. I was also on a supplement from my pcp that my surgeon thought promoted hunger, so we have stopped it for now. I have to email her next week with my results. Hope this helps.
  7. Help!!! I am only 4 weeks out from my band to sleeve revision and I can eat anything and everything. I feel hunger all the time, and started my nexium after reading on here that it helps. When will that kick in. I reread my paperwork and I am only supposed to be able to eat 1/4 cup of food 4x a day... I am eating at least 1 full cup at a sitting. This is so different from the band, I almost crave that "one bite too many" feeling back.. I feel like a failure.. have I stretched my new stomach out already... what am I to do?

eating too much!!! what do I do to stop?

Thank you all for the advice.. I am for sure gonna try the 5 day test thing. Wish the doctor's office could give out real advice like this. I also realized, that I haven't really tried true dense meat yet.. Just the meatloaf, too much cheese and foods that are considered sliders (another term my dr's office to mention). Thank god I go back to work on Friday, maybe when I'm not home with too much time on my hands, things will get better.
