Vinegar for a STUCK solution?
Try it and let us know. I think to break something down it would take a while. In the meantime you would have this vile tasting stuff sitting around that won't go down. I imagine that you would probably have to spit it back out the same as with all the slime that is produced but obviously I could be wrong. If you do try it let us know if it works or not.

Please! Feedback needed--fills/leakage?
PS. After rereading your post I can't understand why he withdrew Fluid, filled and then tried to withdraw it again. That just makes no sense at all.

Please! Feedback needed--fills/leakage?
i agree that it seems strange that the Dr was able to pull out 8cc , put more in and then was unable to pull out more than 7cc. Did the Dr take the needle out in between drawing the liquid back and refilling? iF he did maybe he messed up when he put it in the second time. This sounds like a case of the Dr having caused some problem and now he is trying his best to cover up his mistake. Also be aware that withdrawing the Fluid before filling can cause problems. Apparently it affects the pressure within the band so here in Australia it is no longer recommended. I hope that your tubing hasn't being punctured. Keeping my fingers crossed for you

Slimming - Try to keep it down or let it come back up?
Bringing it up if you can is definitely the better option. If you are able to get it up you will feel relief. If you try keeping it down you feel like you are drowning or choking as their can be so much slime and nowhere for it to go. Bringing this up is not vomiting as the others have said and it's unlikely that it would cause damage to the band. Throwing up violently with force behind it is what is more likely to cause a slip.

Ques. about vomiting post op
If you are talking about vomiting when you eat too much/too quickly/too big a bite etc then its not vomiting as such. Vomiting is horrible, it makes you feel awful, you bring up foul tasting bile. What happens when you are banded is regurgitation which is something you have probably heard on wildlife programmes and thought well what the heck is the difference. It is very different. There is no foul tasting bile, the food is coming from your pouch not your stomach and it is pretty much in the same form as it was when you ate it and it got stuck. What does happen is that you normally produce extra saliva as this is the body's way of trying to move the food down.So the food comes back up with extra saliva. i know it sounds gross but I promise it is far better than vomiting. And if you follow the new eating rules carefully it can be avoided. HTH

New chat forum need support,chat.
It sounds to me as though the kind of foods you are eating could be the problem.Things such as milk, yogurt even eggs are quickly digested, do not stay in the pouch and will not sive you saiety. Try eating heavier proteins such as red meat, chicken, fish etc add some vegetables and see if that makes a difference.

liquid diet while banded
:laugh:yep I can see how this could happen. I went for a small fill this morning. Now my dr's rooms are a good 1.25 hrs drive away and also happen to be close to some of the worlds best icecream shops. I figured that as I have to spend the rest of the day on liquids and i don't get the chance to go there very often that I may as well treat myself and have icecream. I know that my logic is very skewed going for a fill and icecream in the same day but what the heck - it was DIVINE.

less restriction after fill
Can't work out how to do the link!!! This was the actual thread title ( note the spelling mistake) so you should be able to find it. Sorry i am so technologically challenged! Taking fill out to check amount no longer ecommended

Possible erosion...
Keeping fingers crossed for a good outcome. If the port has flipped it is a relatively easy procedure to fix it. I do know people that this has happened to.

Has anyone ever heard of being allergic to the band??
The band is supposedly made of totally hypoallergenic substances and should not cause an allergy. to me the more likely explanation is that you have some kind of infection - possibly from the surgery. Obviously Dr's don't like to admit this so will always look for other explanations particularly ones which mean that they are not at fault. However having said that these days it is possible to find someone who is allergic to absolutely anything. So although substances that cause true allergies are normally an amino acid and have to be of a certain molecular weight there are some weird allergies out there. e.g ice urticaria Good luck hope you find an answer.

less restriction after fill
I posted a thread about this exact issue a while back. In Australia they no longer believe in drawing the Fluid out when they do a fill as it affects the pressure and can cause problems. They now just do topups unless they have a reason to suspect the band is leaking.

What am I feeling?
I had something similar for a while. It can happen sometimes when you are too tight. It is a kind of referred pain. Apparently there is some nerve in the area of the stoma that is connected to the oesophagus. So although the problem seems as though it is in the oesophagus it actually isn't. Sorry that doesn't sound very scientific but that was how it was explained to me. HTH

Is this my sweet spot?
Try dark meat not breast and eat it with some kind of sauce. It makes chicken a lot easier to get down. Just because it has caused a problem today doesn't mean you should give it up. Try again it may go down fine. The band can be fickle.

Help! I effed up and I'm in pain!
ouch that is a long time for a stuck episode. My longest has been about 2 hrs and that is normally PBing and sliming the whole time. The fact that you can get tea down would seem to indicate that you don't need to go to ER. Normally when people are stuck nothing will go down including liquid. If none of the things already suggested work but you can still drink then I suggest waiting and phoning your Dr as soon as their office opens. See if they think you need a slight unfill or if they suggest waiting.

*Why & Where* does food get "stuck?"
This is something that has been asked a number of times and to date has not been answered. I asked my fill Dr and her explanation to me really did not make sense. She said something about the food moving through a lot quicker than we think. If this is true then it contradicts how the band is supposed to work. Supposedly the food is supposed to sit in the pouch for a while so feeling stuck immediately does not make sense.Logically to me if i take a bite that's too big or don't chew properley it shouldn't hurt straight away as it shouldn't be going through the band straight away. But it hurts INSTANTLY.

When the surgeon and the nutritionist don't agree
The surgeon. They are the one that's operating on you so I would want to make sure that i followed their advice.

Still not feeling restricted
What was the problem? You get full, you are not eating huge portions, you can eat anything, you are still losing weight. Sounds to me like you have perfect restriction.

I haven't found ANYTHING I can't eat/ drinking while eating...
You don't need advice you already know what you are doing wrong. If you not going to follow the rules then there was no point to getting the band. You know that you are not supposed to drink whilst eating as it washes the food through the stoma quickly and will not give you restiction and you will get hungry again quickly. As to how to stop drinking whilst eating its easy. As Nike says "Just do it"! You will never break the habit if you don't try. I will have a drink whilst I am preparing the food. Then nothing to drink whilst eating and not for another hour afterwards. That hour actually goes really quickly. You wouldn't buy an expensive new phone and complain that it didn't work when you tried to use it as a remote for your TV. The band is the same - it is a tool that has to be used the way it is designed to be used.

Help on a Situation, food bully
My husband made muffins whilst I was still on liquids. Not because he was being mean but because he's a man. Men don't think! It was tough but I survived it. You should speak to them both and try to get them to stop doing it. After all it's your home. But the other side of the coin is that you will often come across situations like this. We can't spend our lives avoiding food so we have to learn how to deal with it.

Why can I eat?
Now as a Mum i normally tell people that they should listen to their Mums as "Mum always knows best". But in this case she doesn't. You should be following your surgeons advice not your Mums. Who is the expert here, who did the surgery? Yes your surgeon not your Mum. As a number of other posters have said it is not a case of if you can eat it or not. It is a case of is it in your guidelines from your Dr? If it isn't then you shouldn't be eating it. The guidelines are there for very good reasons. You need to make a commitment and start following them.

Too tight and miserable...
It can be hard to pick the right foods sometimes. Especially as different cooking methods come into play as well. Something that may be fine at home could be completely different in a restaurant(too dry etc) - I normally play safe when I eat out and pick fish. Surprised about the being sick though. i can PB quite violently sometimes but it is definetly a PB as there is never bile or anything like that involved. Only lots of foam! Hope the soup works.

To fill or not to fill - that is the question
I think you should get the fill and then take smaller bites and chew slower. You obviously need the fill and you seem to have correctly identified that your problems are "operator error".

You know you are a bandster when....
you're not scared to stand on scales in front of other people! This actually happened to me when i was shopping the other day. I needed to buy new suitcases and wanted ones that were as light as possible. Although they have dimensions on them they don't have the weight. The shop assistant found me scales so I could weigh them and of course the case won't stand on the scale on its own. So I had to weigh myself with and without holding the case. There was another woman buying cases so she was watching too. There is no way i would have done that a couple of months ago.

Too tight and miserable...
Teacher glad you are feeling a bit better. Also don't be so scared of an unfill. Most of the time they only take a small amount out and it can make a heap of difference. Far better to go this route than to stay overfilled, miserable and risk losing the band altogether. I believe that lots of people have issues with their band tightening when its that TOM. If this is happening to you then maybe the answer is to stick to liquids until its finished and then start eating other food again. Mimi hope you are feeling better and don't need to go for an unfill again. Did you actually vomit or was it PB/regurgitation
-
Too tight and miserable...
Yes - not being able to eat is one thing, not being able to drink is something else entirely.if you can't get water down you need an URGENT unfill. Don't leave it as it could cause all sorts of problems.
