Date set - special hello to all the Aussies
Oh, Lili, by now you've been banded and I hope you are doing well! I see that you lost 13 lbs. on your preop diet -- way to go! Take good care of yourself. Glad to hear that Lisa is doing well. Tamara, how nice that you've found a straight bit of road. Mine seems to have bumps along the way, but I'm determined to keep walking! Can't wait to hear more good news from Australia!!! Cheers!

Things to ask at the pre-op appt
Thanks for the advice, Melissa! I will try to get my dh to go along. Two sets of ears are better than one!

Things to ask at the pre-op appt
Whoa! I need to find some of those! Thanks!

Share ideas, What did you eat today ?
Oh, this ricotta bake sounds delish! Perfect for a pureed diet, I'm guessing, unless the mozzarella isn't allowed? I don't know -- I'm not even banded yet. Do you put ground beef in the sauce? Mmm, I want this tonight!

Wow, Kellster, you're really prepared! I hadn't thought of half of these! What is a protein bullet??

What did you tell your young child?
Wow, thank you, everyone, for all the wonderful advice! My son is also a sympathy crier, so I know I need to be the strong one first. All of your input has helped me a lot. Best wishes to you all!

What did you tell your young child?
My son is 4 1/2 years old and a total mama's boy. He wants to be with me all the time. He knows I have health problems and he worries about me if I show any signs of pain. I'm wondering what I should tell him about my upcoming surgery. I have not discussed it openly around him at all. I don't want to worry him, especially about the surgery and overnight stay at the hospital. What did you tell your child(ren)? Thanks!

Date set - special hello to all the Aussies
Hello, ladies! Lili -- only one more day! My goodness, you must be excited! I'm excited for you!! I'm sure your liver will be fine. I'm sorry that Lisa has been having some troubles with all the gas. I hope you don't experience the same. I'll be thinking of you and praying that all goes well. Do check in when you get a chance. Oh, and don't you dare walk home by yourself from the hospital!!! Tamara, great to hear from you. What a lovely husband you have to give you the Wii & Wii Fit! And congrats on the smaller clothes! Focus on that, not on the slight gain. Here is a wonderful quote I just read today. It is an ancient Buddhist expression: "If we are facing in the right direction, all we have to do is keep on walking." I think the band is turning us all in the right direction! Now, we just have to keep moving forward. However, that still doesn't mean you should walk home from the hospital, Lili! :w00t: Big hugs to all!

Pre-op diets?
Oh, sorry, John. Got the dates mixed up. A banana is a great idea. I'll ask the surgeon about that. Thanks for the tip!

Pre-op diets?
Hi, Amy! What about sugar snap peas? They are my favorite! Green Giant sells them without any sauce in a small box that would be about 1 cup, I'm guessing. If you like green beans and don't mind the canned version, there are some that have tiny bits of red pepper and onion mixed in. Those are good for a switch. There are also Brussels sprouts, cabbage, and green peppers. I start my diet on April 30. I'm quite nervous because I haven't been very good since Easter. I've been eating anything I want, justifying it as "my last time to have this." :crying: Good luck, Amy! Keep us posted. And a shout out to John -- how's it going so far on your pre-op? Didn't you start yesterday? Good luck to everyone!

Mayo Banditos Signature Banner?
Looks like it worked fine! Thanks for the congrats! I am almost to six years now! Last year to Celebrate my big 5-year mark, I walked the Relay for Life for the first time. I swear, I felt like I was a celebrity, the way I was treated!! Ours is early June this year, which I'm glad, because I'll be healed by then and will be able to walk easier. Glad to hear that you are a part of Relay also!!

Pre-op diets?
Amy, thanks for the rundown on how it went for you day by day. Now I know what to expect. I drank one 8 oz. Protein drink yesterday and left to go shopping with my friend, and by the time I picked her up 15 min. later, I was starving! So, I am a bit nervous about the hellish time I will have with hunger and no energy. Susie, you and I start our preop on the same day. I've been told to do all SlimFast -- nothing else. At least they are tasty, IMHO.

Susie, I've found that you can just copy and paste the whole graphic from my post above and not worry about the coding at all. I think that's what most people are doing. Much simpler! :tt1:

Date set - special hello to all the Aussies
Hi, Lili! Only 5 more days for you to go -- you must be very excited! I'm sorry to hear that Lisa hasn't been feeling well, but my goodness, dropping 4 lbs in one day? That's amazing! I do appreciate you telling me about her woes, because it gives me good warning of what to expect... and how to remedy the problems. I hope it gets better and better for her now that your ship is ready to sail. I was in a great mood after getting approved, but this last week since the Easter Bunny arrived and then "Aunt Flo" arrived, I've been eating everything that isn't nailed down. I'm feeling like "I'll never eat this again -- I must shove it in now!" Not good. It makes me less confident in myself. Hope you all are doing well! Cheers!

LapBand Surgery on Youtube
Hmm... I might have to have a double shot of rum in my SlimFast before I watch this.
-
Mood Changes
Amy, I believe it was John who said that, not me. I'm just happier since I've started adding rum to my Slim Fast. j/k No, seriously, I haven't started on my pre-op yet, but I am getting happier the closer my date gets. And I get upset when I sabotage myself by eating, say, all the chocolate eggs out of my son's Easter basket. (He said he didn't like them, so *someone* had to eat them!) I think it's probably a combination of the better diet and the excitement of our new lives about to begin!

Pre-op diets?
LOL -- I just looked at my post and I didn't type all that stuff in blue!!! I typed the website, w w w dot unjury dot com and all that popped up. Funny.

Pre-op diets?
NF, you can only buy Unjury online at UNJURY Medical Quality Whey Protein Isolate. Great Tasting Whey Protein Supplements for Everyday Health! High Protein and High Quality.. The shipping is super fast, though. I got mine the next day! (Found out the company is not far from my house in Virginia, though.) The nice thing is, you can try sample packs for only $1.75 per pack. They are low-cal, fat-free, and 20 g. protein per pack! I recommend the chocolate (super yummy) and the chicken soup. The unflavored is good for mixing into just about anything. I tried it in plain water, to give it the real taste test, and it was okay. Added to spaghetti sauce or applesauce or mashed potatoes, and it would be perfect. Good luck!

Pre-op diets?
Mmm... yes! Kahlua might be good, also! heh heh heh....
