  1. Holy crap Deb! Good for you...bad for me...I seem to have gained the two pounds I lost the week before. Yup, put me down for +2. Booooooo!
  2. Didn't the doctor give you anti-nausea meds? If not, call him/her and ask for some. Hope you feel better.
  3. I know what you mean about all the scary posts on here. It can be very discouraging. I haven't been banded long, but, so far so good. I also was a self-pay. Don't let all the posts freak you out. I figure it's like anything...people are more likely to be vocal if they're complaining. While their complaints may be valid, there are hundreds of others who you don't hear from that are having a wonderful experience with the band. Good luck.
  4. Last night was fun. It was great to put faces with names, and real names with lapband names. I wish you out-of-towners lived here.
  5. I drink a pot of coffee in the morning, half a pot at night and iced tea in between. I take my coffee black and my tea unsweetened. I think if I was told I couldn't have my coffee, I would have second-guessed getting the band. Everything else I've given up is fine with me, but coffee?? No way.
  6. Deb, when are you going in for a fill? I get one tomorrow and each time I go into Dr. K's office, I wonder if the other people in the waiting room are people I've talked to on here. Either way, I'll see you on Wednesday at Red Robin.
  7. Didn't see the tornado, but had planned on going to Southlands Mall today. Not gonna happen now that it's closed due to damage.
  8. Wow! Congratulations! You look HOT! I can't wait to see results like that.
  9. I'm gonna be there on the 10th. Heck, I could be there on the 11th too.
  10. Hi ladies. Teachergirl, sorry you're going through so much. Things can only get better, right? Congrats on the weight losses to you both. I'm going for my third fill on the ninth, but not sure I need it yet. I have pretty good restriction. I just need to exercize.
  11. I'm gonna set myself up for failure or amazing success...put me in for a goal of -20. Since I'm off work for the summer, I plan on hitting the gym every day.
  12. Add me to the list please. I'm in Chicago right now, but hope to find a scale tomorrow to weigh in.
  13. Ughh...combination of party grazing and TOM has left me at no gain, no loss. Didn't meet goal for this challenge...may as well throw myself in front of a bus. Just kidding. The public transportation around here isn't good enough to be able to time it just right.
  14. Congratulations and welcome, you two.
  15. Bella, I'm down two pounds this week. I was hoping for more, because I definately have restriction. Maybe more next week.
  16. Count me in for Red Robin on the 10th.
  17. Actually, the day of the week doesn't matter usually. I'm almost always available, but my daughter is graduating from high school this week, so things are crazy right now. I'll make it next time.
  18. I'm down 2 pounds this week. Got another fill today, so hopefully I'll lose a chunk by next Monday. I hope you guys had fun at Red Robin. I was sad I couldn't join you this time. Theresa
  19. Hi Marcy. A few things I've found to be good about Dr. K versus others (just based on a lot of other threads on this site): 1. He doesn't make you do a liquid diet for weeks before surgery. He has you do high protien for two weeks and liquids just the night before. 2. A lot of people who have other surgeons have to be on liquids for weeks after surgery. Dr. K only has you on liquids for a few days. 3. Other people get tiny fills when they go in, meaning they don't hit that "sweet spot" for a looong time. Dr. K isn't shy about giving you the fill necessary for you to feel some restriction right away. I've only had my band for a month and a half, but I've been very pleased with the process and with the doctor. Good luck in whatever you decide.
  20. rodriguez, I totally agree with you on the euthanasia topic...of course, I'm pro-choice under any circumstances.
  21. My doctor doesn't give a shot before a fill. I'm a pain-wimp, and to me, it didn't hurt at all...tiny pin prick.
  22. Good luck with whatever you decide.
  23. You don't want to drink while or right after eating because it will flush the food through. You want the full feeling as long as possible, so don't flush the food.
