  1. I'm in the city, was just banded yesterday by Dr. George Fielding. There are a lot of us in the NYC area though. Once we all get onto solid foods, I'm thinking we should do a NY August Bandits get together. I'm happy to host!! Would be great to put faces to names and chat about where we all are in the process. Jen
  2. Hi Ladies. Thanks for the love. I'm going to try to post a blog entry today about my experience so check it out. All in all, the surgery part was fantastic. Would do it again, all my fears going in were quickly allayed by the anesthesiologist. I was supposed to have the single incision surgery, but it ended up that I had a hietal hernia so they ended up doing five incisions. I'm actually okay with that....with all my stretch marks I never planned on wearing a bikini anyway! But I am in a lot of pain. Gas pain in my stomach and my left shoulder and chest. Deep breathing is very hard. I have no regrets, I know that the pain will go away quickly, would do it all over again. Jacqui - the staff there is amazing. They make you feel so comfortable. I'll post my whole surgery story on the blog so that you can know what to expect. Thanks again for all of the support ladies. Your turn!! p.s. I was 263 yesterday morning and 268 last night....5 pounds of gas, no wonder I hurt!!
  3. Hi Crystal - my surgery is tomorrow!! Can't believe it!!! Whoo hoo!
  4. Can't believe there are five of us getting banded tomorrow!! To the other ladies Lotusflwr (Patty), Mom2boys3 (Cora), PMNURSE64 (Patti) and SMS1964 (Sue) - Let's go get 'em!!! xoxo, Jen :sneaky:
  5. KAREN!!!!!!!!! So excited for you. I'm sending you good thoughts all day today. Can't wait to hear how it goes!!! xoxo, Jen
  6. Thanks so much Joan!! I cannot wait I'm so excited!
  7. Okay...how the heck do I post pictures? HELP KAREN!!
  8. Hi Crystal - I'm on day 16 of my pre-op diet. Was only supposed to be 2 weeks, but I ended up getting really sick (bronchitis, double ear infection). Not sure if it had anything to do with the diet, but I've got to think that my immunity system was weakened by the lack of real food. Your diet sounds similar to mine. No popsicles for me, but I was allowed 2 cups of veggies and unlimited sugar free Jello. All I can say is that drinking Water has helped me. I drink enormous amounts of it when I'm hungry and chew sugarless gum! I'm on liquids for another 10 days after surgery, but get to have tomato Soup and I'm really excited about that! Good luck!! Jen
  9. Abby, I'm actually setting my goal for 165 and we'll see when I get there!! I'm 5'8 and I can't imagine being lower than that....probably haven't been there since the 8th grade, but we'll see!! RACE IS ON!
  10. So glad you did so well!! I'm having the single incision too. Cannot wait for Friday to get here!
  11. Sorry Jacqui - Can't get it to work, can you redo yours with the instructions? I'm down 16.2 since starting the pre-op 2 weeks ago.
  12. Thanks everyone!! Stacey, thanks for the reassurance. Jacqui - you rock!! Quick question for you. I've noticed a lot of people talking about Clear Liquids before and after surgery, but I don't see that we're required to do that. Agree or were you told something different by the nutritionist that I missed?
  13. Hey All - Surgery is on Friday and last night when I was going to bed I started to freak out a bit. Not scared about failing or the pain or anything like that, scared about being put under. Reading the surgery stories and the moment that you move to the table and the mask goes on. I'm scared.....anyone else? Words of encouragement?? Still all about this journey and I know it's the right thing to do, but SCARY!!
  14. Ditto what Karen said. When my surgeons office called they told me what my payment would be and that it would be due at the hospital the day of my surgery.
  15. Good Luck Liz!!! I'll be sending you good thoughts. Can't wait to hear how it goes.
  16. Good Luck CarrieLynn!! I'm on Friday. Anxious to hear how everything goes for you.

  18. Hey All - Well, some of you know that I've been sick since I started the pre-op diet (think that's probably coincidental). Anyway, ended up with bronchitis and a double ear infection this week. Called my surgeon today and they said I need to finish my antibiotics before they can do surgery, so surgery moved from Monday August 3rd to Friday August 7th. Funny thing is that my surgeon is doing a workshop for other doctors that day, so my surgery will be recorded and shown via satellite to other bariatric surgeons. I was fine with that for two reasons 1) they don't show my face and 2) I figure he's gotta be on his "a" game right?? So, bummed that I have to live on liquids for yet another week, but feel better that at least I'll be healthy for surgery. Jen
  19. Hey All. I'm scheduled to have surgery on Monday but have been sick pretty much since I started the liquid diet and ended up with a raging ear infection last night. Had pre-surgical testing today and they said if I'm not feeling better (no pain in ear) by Saturday then I would need to postpone. I'm sure you all feel my pain (no pun intended), but after making this decision and rocking the liquid diet for two weeks, to move the surgery would BITE!! So please please send me good vibes. I hope to be writing you all from a hospital bed on Monday. Jen:frown:
  20. YAH JACQUI!!!! Congratulations! Feels amazing huh?? I've got my pre-op testing tomorrow, hope all goes well!
  21. Ooh I'm August 3rd too! We'll be twin bandits!
  22. p.s. The powder form, I can no longer take the cans....YUCK!
  23. Allison, I've been doing the Slim Fast Optima Chocolate Royale. I mix with 1 cup skim milk and 1/2 cup ice in a blender, it's amazing! I think this will be my breakfast or snack for life...tastes like Nesquik Chocolate milk.
  24. Hi Nancy - Congrats to you!! The pre-op diet is going really well!! I've lost 10.6 as of this morning. Once I got past day three, I started to feel much better about things. Now, I find that when I'm hungry, it's time to eat or "drink" something. If I could just get past this darn cold, things would be great! Continued good luck to you!!
