It's Been Awhile
Hello All, I have not been on here in about 8 months and decided to get on here and see how people are doing, and I'm looking for some support. I am very happy to say that I have lost so much wait, but still have another 100 to go. I started my journey at a whopping 597 and am now down to 365. Yes, that is 232 lost. I am very happy but have found myself stuck for the last 4 months. I have not gained thankfully but I am seriously stuck and the weight won't move. I have tried to add different workouts and everything but nothing is working. I'm just looking for some ideas or things I can do to shake things up. I am do for a fill but I don't really think that is the problem. I know what I'm eating and I'm staying on track. I'm thinking that my body has just said enough for a while and hoping that things get going soon. Any ideas or suggestions are welcome. Hope everything is good with all of you.

chicago bandsters reunite 2010
I haven't been on here in a long time. I started a post a while back about a support group but it really never went anywhere. This past Sunday has been 2 yrs since my surgery and I am happy to say I've lost 227 lbs. But I am always looking for people to share stories, experiences, struggles and accomplishments with. It's tough to just talk to your friends about it, because even though they can be very supportive, they just don't know what you're really going through. Anyone willing to exchange thoughts by email or even getting a group of people together and meeting up that would be great.

chicago bandsters reunite 2010
This would be awesome, I was banded on 5-8-2009 and tried doing something like this last year, but didn't go to well. I would love to be part of a support group and share stories with some local people. Please contact me with any chances of getting a support group going. I was also thinking of trying to get a meeting set up where people can meet to have our own support group. Let me know what you think.

Wow.....thats miserable
I'm feeling a lot better thanks for asking, but it has happened a couple of other times. The problem is I'm stubborn and I love my bread. And it definately becomes a problem. So the bread is gone and I'm doing much better. If I really really want some bread I just toast it until its almost burned, lol, and it works.

Anyone losing weight without any fills?
I actually had kind of the same situation happen to me. I had lost about 25 lbs from surgery date to first fill. My first fill was at the end of june of this year. Since then I have continually lost a lot of weight everytime I went back to see him. I wasn't able to eat as much as before surgery but still eating way more than I should have been eating. I was just making the right decisions and would load up on veggies after my protein. Well, I finally got my second fill on 9-30 after being down a total of 102lbs. So yes it's possible that he won't fill you if you're losing, but I had only lost 12 lbs the last month so he noticed a decline and decided to fill me. With your weight loss drastically dropping he will probably give you a fill next visit.

Wow.....thats miserable
Well, it finally happened. I got my second fill on tuesday morning and last night I thought I would be able to eat something solid. So I sat down for dinner with a piece of chicken breast and some steamed broccoli, and about 8 bites into my meal I started to feel horrible. I stopped eating and began to pace my basement. The next thing I new I was leaning over the sink in pain. This was all followed by a sliming episode and then a pbing episode. Don't know if it was just too early to have solids or if it was cause I ate too fast. I guess it's pretty good, 5 months in and it being my first episode, but either way I hope it never happens again.

Yes, I posted something like this a few weeks back in a different forum and haven't received a reply. Teena, I am also from chicago and would love to do something like this. I was banded 5-8-2009. Hopefully we can find some more Chitown bandits and try to set something up.

Support Groups
Just asking around to see if people are interested in having some kind of support group get together. They have these through my clinic and really don't like them too much. Just wondering if anyone knows of any around or is interested in trying to start one. I'm open to traveling a little if need be. I live near the Ohare area.

Surgeons near Downers Grove?
Hey Carrie, I see you posted this about a month back, and no answer to your post. My surgeon is DR. Kane. He has offices in hoffman estates, elk grove village and I think another spot. He is awesome. You can look his office up on line. Kane Center. I had my surgery 5-8-2009 and everything has been awesome so far. His staff is really nice and even though it seems like they are so busy sometimes, they will call you back as soon as they can and are a tremendous help. Well hope you can find someone near by but definately look into the Kane Center.

2nd/Third - Follow Up Fill Experiences
Wondering if this happened to anyone else. Well I went in for what I thought would be my second fill yesterday. My first fill was on June 10th. I weighed in with the nurse and was excited to see that I lost 30 lbs since my first fill. So as I waited for the doctor I was really excited about getting the second fill because I really haven't felt much restriction. So the doctor walks in and asks how is everything going and asked how I was feeling. Then he's like alright we'll see you in a month or so. I was like how about the fill, and he said oh no way, your averaging a lose of 5 lbs a week you don't need one. Don't get me wrong I'm happy about the weight loss but its also because my will power is very strong right now and I have been really cracking down. I guess I should just keep doing what I have been doing and see how it goes in a month.

Closer all the time....but still a ways to go
Dab, that is awesome, and you are truly an inspiration. I have read your posts before and we have talked, but you only have had one fill and you feel good restriction? I had a fill on 6-10, 4 cc's and I feel no restriction so I have to get back in to the doctor. I have been working really hard to make sure I watch what I eat and not slip off the wagon. Either way thanks for keeping us posted on your journey, it truly motivates us to stay on track. Congrats and good luck with your next goal.

Frustrated with the small amounts of food? I am!
wow I'm a little surprised and taken aback from the first couple of comments. I understand there's a mental thing to get over, but I would assume you would have been able to get over that before starting you're journey. And by the way I'm not putting anyone down, with all do respect I just don't understand your views on this. I would think that you would be happy and excited to be able to just eat your Protein and a couple bites of veggies and be full. I mean that's the whole point of having the surgery right? I was banded on 5-8-09 and had my first fill on 6-10-09 and I have absolutely no restriction. I am killing myself trying to stay on track and not eat everything in site. I think I'm doing a pretty damn good job so far but I would give up anything right now to be able to have the type of restriction you guys are having. Just stay focused and ask yourself would you rather be in your shoes, where you actually feel full or in mine where you're killing yourself making sure you're not over eating. Sarahbellzz I know what you mean, I actually had pizza the other night and after having two sqaures I left the room and went outside cause I know I would have eaten a few more. It didn't seem to bother me at all. After everyone was done I went back in and had some veggies to fill me up.

does anyone know of drs around rockford illinois
Not sure of any in Rockford, but I had mine done with Dr Kane, at the Kane Center. He's affiliated with Alexian Brothers hospital. My experience so far has been outstanding, the staff, both with his office and the hospital and he his awesome. His father was one of the first doctors in the midwest to do weight lost surgery about 40 years ago and he's followed in his fathers foot steps. He is awesome!!!!!

Vitamin Help!
I use the Viactiv, Multivitamin is milk chocolate and I also use the calcium which is caramel. I love them. Since I love my chocolate its a great substitution. The only con is that if you don't drink something after about ten minutes you kind of get a weird metallic taste but a sip of anything will get rid of that.

Help... Puree/Mushie Stage
Im actually feeling pretty good, thanks. My doctor wants me on liquids all day today so all I had was a Protein shake for Breakfast and some Soup for lunch and all that wonderful crystal light. LOL. It hasn't been too bad, stomach kind of growling but not feeling really hungry. WOW your doctor is on an express plan. I was on Clear Liquids for a week, then full liquids, then mushies for the third week. It was tough but I stayed really focused. I didn't want to do anything wrong and mess something up.

Help... Puree/Mushie Stage
Hey Jenn, First fill went great thanks for asking. I was a little nervous about it, but the only thing I felt was the numbing shot which was a pinch and a little burn. That was about it, I didn't even feel the other needle or anything else, that was pretty cool. As far as the Protein powder in the Water goes. Yeah it changes the texture obviously but as far as taste went it wasn't too bad. I used a tastless protein powder which I bought from my doctor's e-store and it was good cause I added it to anything I ate. I attached something below so you can see what it is. By the way when was your surgery? [ MORE INFO ]100% Any whey Protein Optimum Nutrition 100% ANY WHEY Protein is the perfect compliment to any meal or snack. This virtually tasteless powder is fat FREE with 17 grams of protein and only 1 gram of carbohydrates. 100% ANY WHEY Protein is the ideal protein supplement. 30 servings per container. $ 21.95

Help... Puree/Mushie Stage
It does get easier, obviously be careful but don't over think things, thats when you begin to drive yourself crazy. I seriously attached a water bottle to my hand, LOL, so I would remember to keep drinking even if I wasn't thirsty. I was lucky enough to not really be too hungry even at the mushy stage so I wasn't eating much either. I just made sure I would get all the protein in using protein powder. Some days I would add it to my water just to make my protein goal for the day. In between meals just continue to drink so that you get all your water in for the day. I add crystal light to it and its a lot better. I am 5 weeks post op now and actually am going in for my first fill in a few hours. Well Good Luck and I'm sure you'll do great.
