Hi my name is Deann and I just got the Realize band Sept 16th 2009. So far only down 17 pounds but havnt had a fill yet. How are you doing with your band? Are you continuing to lose weight? I hope you are doing well because there are a lot of neg comments about Realize band in this discussion forum and I just hope everyone who was brave enough to make this desition loses the weight they want and need too. Thank you for saying something possitive about the realize band. I just had my surg Sept 16th 2009, and the I let the Dr chose which band because i figured he knew best. I got the Realize band and have lost 17 pounds that is counting my pre surg diet. I wish it was more but I havn't had a fill yet and just started solid food 2 weeks ago. I hope the fill helps me lose faster. Reading some of the posts on this site made me afraid I made the wrong decision on having the Realize band put in. I can't change my mind now though so I pray it will help me because I feel this is my last resort. I would really like to hear some possitive comments from people who have had success with the realize band. Deann

I am worried I just got the realize band Sept 16th 2009. I have lost 17 pounds including pre-op in 4 weeks. I notice it seems like everyone mainly has the lapband. The Dr asked me to chose but I left it up to him because he said there was not much difference between the 2 I hope I didn't make a mistake.

Hi my name is Deann and I just got the band Sept 16th of 2009. I was doing really good the first 2 weeks post band but since starting solid foods it is like I am hungry ALL the time. I havn't got a fill yet so I hope that helps. I just am not full with 1/2 or even 1 cup of food. I wonder how much is hunger though and how much is head hunger after being on liquids and mushy food so long. I don't want to stretch out my band and hope I havn't done that yet. Ive lost 17 pounds and gained 4 back after solid food was added. I don't know what is wrong with me. I went through this whole ordeal that was and is my last straw attempt to lose weight and I feel I am sabitoging myself. I ate a whole bowl of popcorn which Im not supposed to ever have but I had eaten popcorn everyday prior to surg and Havn't had it for a month and felt like a drug addict having withdralls from crack or something. I felt I needed that popcorn and was going to have it no matter what. Well I did It tasted good and did not bother me physically but mentally I am now sooo ashamed of myself. I need some encouragment or something to get through this. Please let me know did you have struggles like this? Did you ever cheat post band? Does this mean Im doomed to fail AGAIN at this? Please let me know how did you do this and get rid of the emotional eating problem. Sorry for the venting but I needed to tell someone and couldnt talk to my family about this or anyone else. I need to talk to others that have been or are going through this battle of weight loss. Thanks for listning. Love Deann

I was just banded Sept 16 2009 and feel sick to my stomach the last 2 days. Also I have these large ? gas bubbles that are round and hard by my insisions its like a babys foot or something pushing out of my stomach. Really weird feeling. I tried yest to eat a tiny little bite of scrambled egg and almost threw up but ran and took some antinausia medicine and was able not to. Im wondering if I made the right decision doing this. I hope it is going to get better soon. I hate to feel like Im always on the verge ov throwing up. could use some advice.

I am so so happy for you. You seem like such a nice person. I just had mine done 5 days ago. Not sure how much I can eat without getting sick. I tried to eat a small bite of a scrambled egg and got very nausous, so I took the meds the Dr gave me that prevent you from getting sick. I guess I have to learn by trial and error. It has only been 5 days so I have a lot to learn. I hope I do as good or even half as good as you do. God bless you and your family. Deann

Hi just noticed you were on the mushy stage which means you must have just had surg I have mine in 3 days. How are you feeling since surg are you back to work yet and how are you handling it. Im getting nervous about my surg so just want to see how others are doing that have recently got the band and if they are happy with it. -

Im still on 2 week liquid diet and am having great trouble NOT thinking of food right now I hope this 2 weeks goes fast. Im so so happy all of you earlier Sept bandsters are doing well hare to believe after surg you say you have not much of an appitite because Im starving now. But good to hear so I know the band will help with the appitite controll. Good luck to all of you let me know how you all are doing. My surg is Sept 16th -

BooCakes, My surgery is also on Sept 16th Im starting the 2 week liquid diet tomorrow. I hope I get through it. Im just trying to remind myself I have to. Im so sick of being overweight I hope this helps I feel it has to. Please let me know how your doing and email me anytime if you need encouragment I know I will need it and that is why Im so happy I found this site and people like you to talk to. I beilieve that this surg is an answer to my prayers I have been trying and praying for years for God to help me with my weight problem. I hope this is the answer. I pray for all of you to do well please pray for me.

My surgery is also scheduled Sept 16th my brothers birthday. I wasnt going to tell him but since its on his birthday I did. I didnt want him to think I forgot him when I was just undergoing surg. I am really really getting nervous and it doesnt help when my husband and daughter keep repeating are you really sure this is what you want to do? I deal with emotions with food and it has also been the main form of entertainment for me and my husband. ( going out to eat on the weekends ordering pizza ect) I know I really need to lose this weight for my health and my self esteem but cant figure out why now that the day is within reach after 6 months of classes ect am I so nervous. I know this is the rest of my life I dont think Ill regret it but once its done its done. and Im worried the people I have told at work will be watching me and judging me as to how Im doing. If I fail at this after going through surg I will be so disapointed in myself. I dont mean to be negative but needed to get out my feelings before sure. I also am exited and hopefull that I will finally be able to get to a healthy weight. Lots of mixed emotions. anyone else feeling these kind of feelings Help. I need encouragement.:biggrin: -

I just got approved and am having mine Sept 16th. Exitited :biggrin:and really really nervous at the same time. Let me know how you do. Im also worried about the 2 week liquid diet but I know I have to do it maybe we can encourage each other when we are having trouble it would be nice to talk to someone who understands how im feeling. :confused:

I go to my last meeting tomorrow Aug 4th then they will send everything in for ins approval. I am exited and nervous at the same time. I know this is a lifelong thing and once its done its done. I am so addicted to food for calming me down. when im bored ect and am going to have to find new things that dont involve food so Im happy because I need this but have that little bit of nerves too. I hope this is normal. -

I have my last required class for insurance August 4th then it will be sent in for insurance approval. Ive been going to classes for 6 months. Insurance sure does make you go through a lot before approving you. I guess it gives you time to know all the facts about what your getting into. Im exiced but getting a little scared people keep telling me Are you sure this is for the rest of your life and youll never be able to eat all you favorite foods again. It is scary thinking this is the rest of your life decision. I really really want to lose this weight. I need to for health reasons but food has been my entertainment and comfort and it is hard to not be scared. I have tried everything else for 20 years I need the help though. I just cant seem to do it by myself. I hope people will let me know how they are doing after the surgery and pre surg and Ill write you back and let you know how it goes for me. I have bcbs-IL insurance and am just now looking into lap band my BMI is 42 I have and appt with Diatician and phycyotrist in a couple weeks a referal letter from my Dr and all my paper work filled out and am starting the 6 month supervised Dr visits. Even with all this they can deny you? Im thinking of having the surg done in Galesburg Il and they seem to think Im a candidate. The health reason is I have severe peripheral neuropathy in my legs and losing weight would help take pressure off the nerves. I dont understand I thought bcbs was good insurance. Has anyone had surg in Peoria or Galesburg? please let me know your experiece.

:thumbup:I have been checking into lapband surg I need to lose 130 pounds and am so ashamed that I have lost weight over the last 20 years only to gain it back each and everytime. I have gotten my referal letter from my Dr and went to and information meeting and am going to a class March 3rd and 16th. I already have the appt with the psycologist and diatition but I really need to get advice from some people who have already had this done. Is it worth it does it really help that much. Wont I be hungry all the time eating a 1/4 cup of food only. How do you deal when your bored I have usually eaten when bored. I hear about stuff getting stuck in bands, bands slipping and eroding and about the liquid diets and just want confirmation that it is all worth it. how fast do you lose weight. A nurse told me you lose weight quicker with gastric bypass and that It takes up to 3 years to lose all your weight with the band. How can that be that it is so slow when you are eating soooo much less then you used to? My sister died shortly after gastric bypass so I dont want that surg done. I know this is a rest of my life thing and want to be sure. People at work Ive mentioned it to dont understand why I cant just eat less and exersise more and think Im silly to get banded but I feel I have an addiction to food and I take meds that make me hungry and tired all the time so its hard to exersise as much as I should. I did join a gym and am trying to walk 30 min a day to get my body in better shape for surg. Please anyone who has the time I would appreciate any and all advice. Hi Cher my name is Deann and Im thinking of having to lap band I am 130 pounds overweight and never though that I would ever let myself get this bad. I have lost and gaind weight for over 20 years and am sick to it and almost ready to give up. Do you think the band has helped you enough to be worth everything you have to dead with ( throwing up, stuff getting stuck in band, not being able to eat your favorite foods or eat and drink together) I know if I have this done there is no turning back. I dont want gastric done because my sister died shortly after hers so it really scares me. Please let me know how you did. and how fast can you lose weight if you exersise and do everything your supposed to do? thanks for your time Deann
