    Night eating problems...anyone???

I agree that you need to talk to your doctor about it...if you are doing it in your sleep and not even remembering, except by finding evidence in the morning, then you cant get mad at yourself. its not like you are making the conscious decision to eat those foods. there is an underlying problem that needs to be addressed--its NOT your fault, and the more you beat yourself up about it the worse your moral will be causing you to loose sight of your goals. good luck, let us know what the doctor says!
  2. I have been struggling too. i went 2 months without losing anything. then i stuck to the diet for 2 weeks and lost 5 lbs. in two weeks. fortunately and unfortunately i started a new job--great that i started working--bad for the diet. I get to eat for free in the cafeteria where i work, only problem is there are FEW healthy choices. and i find myself eating things i shouldnt eat. its not so much the quantity that i am having trouble with--its the quality. i work from 6a-6p, so its really hard for me to get motivated to get up early to pack a healthy Breakfast and lunch especially since the food is free. i think its a good idea to start the shakes if you havent lost weight in a week--i havent tried it yet. i think i will try it this week. thanks for the idea. good luck with getting a fill!!!

well it seems you are all happy with the exercise you are getting from this game. I am actually looking into getting the wii system and some games so i have an indoor type of exercise that i enjoy (I just moved from florida to Michigan--so i know in the winter i need indoor activities) any other suggestions of other games to buy or if you think the wii is worth it??

    Realize Band?

I have the realize band. I had my surgery in December 08. No complaints thus far. good luck!
  7. I haven't been the model bandster lately and i have decided to clean my slate and start over fresh. I was wondering if there was anyone else out there who hasnt been doing as well as they would like with the diet over the last few months and would like to come here to encourage each other to get back on track. I haven't lost or gained any weight since mid-april....but i know i havent been on the strictest diet, and my exercise has been lacking. let me know if anyone else needs encouragement to get back on track and is ready to start losing again!

Birth Control Pill and Weight Loss

i have been taking the pills since right after my surgery. i have the same issue with heavy periods. i havent noticed any difference in the weight loss. maybe you should try a different brand of BCP. I know different combinations of hormones affect people differently. my favorite for me is Yasmin!!!

Lap Band AP, 10cc or 14cc?

I have the Realize band also...my doc asked me if i had a preference and i said i trusted them to choose what they thought would be best for me. He tends to like the realize band and have good results with that band so he choose to use that for me. I figured he is the expert so he should use what he sees me succeeding with. I have had 3 fills for a total of 5 cc in a 9cc band. i just had a fill last week so right now i feel pretty good about my restriction.

    Eating and Drinking - Together

I too have trouble not drinking. I used to LOVE diet coke before surgery and now i switched to Water, but i drink just as much. my doc told me i was allowed to drink up until the first bite....like if i was at a resturaunt i could drink until the food comes out...and then not to drink for 90 min. after eating. I find it helpful to not even have any drink at the table with me...if its there i will no doubt take a drink without even thinking about it. i have to admit if i have something hot or spicy i do have a couple sips with my food. i find it helpful to get up and do something after ive eaten too...i need the distraction so i dont fixate on the fact that i cant drink anything. LoL

    Fresh Start

I have started a food diary again...i find when i dont do it...i tend to eat more than i realize. it has really helped...trying to stay around 1000 calories or less per day. I also went on a 45 min. walk last night. took the dogs and it felt great. i just need to keep it up and then after a few days add some other types of exercise....bike riding, or im thinking about getting some roller blades. ive also been thinking about getting a Wii Fit to help during the winter (I just moved to Michigan from Florida--so im used to walking and doing other outdoor activities for exercise) any one have advice on the wii fit?? does it really give you a work out?? or should i go for the boring old treadmill??
  12. Im in the same boat as you. Lately i was traveling a lot and it seemed just "easier" to cheat on the diet. I was eating out and eating a lot of "snack" foods since i didnt have a house of my own. I agree that it helps me sometimes to have a small amount of something i really want--if i dont then i just obsess on it and want to binge later. i am moved into a new place now and have decided i only buy things to bring in the house that fit in the diet. if i do want a little treat i get a single serving of what i want and when it is gone its gone. no big portions for grazing. congrats on your 60 lbs. weight loss. keep up the good work!
  13. so sorry to hear about your company. i posted my last response before reading that. keep looking on the bright side...you will be skinny and beautiful soon and im sure you will get any job you want
  14. I had surgery on a wed. and was would have been able to go back on Monday. I think 3 days post op i was still a little tired and loopy from the pain meds. everyone is a little different so it just depends on how your body handles it. my advice would be to keep your pain under control. take the pain meds every 4-6 hours the first 48 hours whether you feel like you need it or not. it is easier to prevent the pain from coming on than to get rid of it once it is there. good luck!
  15. sounds like you are doing just fine....i didnt ever experience the uncomfotable feeling of things getting "stuck" etc. until after my first fill. i think that since you havent had any fills yet things still pass pretty easily if you follow the post op diet they gave you for sure!

    Frustrated

I am at a different place that you are in the process of the band, but i am frustrated to. I was banded in December 2008, and i have been stuck at my current weight for 4 weeks. i think that the major change i need to make is to add more exercise into my daily routine--but it is hard to make changes. just keep reminding yourself how happy you will be when you finally reach your goal!!!! there will be ups and downs during the whole process but you got to stay focused.--and i know its alot easier said than done! good luck...once you start healing more you will feel like exercising more and i think that will help. just stick with the diet and things will fall into place.

    Vacation-Disneyworld

I went to disney last month and i did have a few treats while i was there, but i also brought a backpack with me that had low calorie Snacks so i only ate one meal that i bought there per day. the other times of the day i ate the low calorie snacks that i had packed for myself. and you will be doing a lot of walking while you are there....so enjoy a treat. otherwise you will end up being miserable thinking about food the whole time.
  18. I was banded December 10th 2008. i have had two fills. the first one of 3 cc in Feb. the second one of 1 cc last week. i have lost 38.8 lbs and have been stuck at this current weight about 4 weeks!!!!!!!!!!!! im so frustrated!!! i do know i need to exercise more....hopefully once i make that fix it will help me get back on the losing side of things!!!
  19. I have been stuck at the same weight for the past 3-4 weeks. I will lose a pound gain it back. gain a pound lose it again.... i had my second fill on tuesday. I have the 9 cc realize band. I had 3 cc on the first fill and 1 cc on the second fill. i have been really concentrating on the diet, so i dont know why im not losing. i guess i do need to add more exercise--i moved from Florida up north to Indiana. I used to exercise outside a lot, but since the weather is unpredictable here i have cut back on my exercising i just need some encouragement and any advice to get me through this plateau!!!!! any one else in the same boat?

    able to eat anything

i was banded in december of 2008. i just got my second fill a few days ago. i still feel like i want to eat more than i should. its a struggle of will power for me because i dont think i have the right amout of restriction. i can eat anything....steak, bread, raw veggies. etc. i have never had anything get "stuck" yet. however my doctor put it best when she said "just because you can doesnt mean you should" that is how you get an obstruction. it just takes one time for you to have to go back to surgery!!!
  22. also one of my friends who is egyptian got the laser hair removal for the facial hair and she swears by it! maybe when i have the money i will try that since it is a permanent fix and even if it does improve with weight loss i doubt it will ever go away enough to make me happy.
  23. I also have PCOS. and i have issues with hair on the face and chest and abdomen. i havent noticed a big change with the first 38 lbs...but hopefully as i continue to lose it will get better. since i do have PCOS my doctor did start me on Spironolactone which is supposed to help with the hair. i guess it did slow the growth down some, but it didnt reduce the amount. good luck with everything, and hang in there!!!

    why such secrecy?

i have only told selected people. mostly really close people or those who i am around a lot so they know why i have to stick to my change in eating habits etc. i have found that some people who know--like my dad--tend to think they are the lap band police. when i try to eat anything he says things like "why are you eating" "you dont need to eat that" "you have lost some weight, but you still need to lose a lot more" "you just shouldnt eat at all" he thinks he is helping...but actually it makes me want to binge when he is not around so i dont have to eat in front of him and endure his annoying comments. i wish he didnt know...but he helped me finace the surgery so i had no choice in telling him.

    Help!!! 2nd fill today,

i also get a shot of lidocaine to numb the area before the actual fill needle is inserted. i wouldnt say it feels good...but it isnt too painful for me. the only thing is its a little sore the rest of the day like a bruise. i also got 3cc my first fill. and 1 cc my second fill. the doc said that for the Realize band that is the recommended schedule. some doctors like to be more aggressive--but if you are more aggressive you have a bigger risk of complications.
