  1. I know it's been a while since you posted this entry but i was wondering how you are doing. My doctor also only gives 1cc for your first and second fill and then .5 ccs after..............I asked about this and the Asst. said that there are guidelines that come from somewhere( she told me but I can't remember) but they are supposed to be followed when administering fills............I went to a center of excellence doctor and hospital. So I totally trust their rules/guidelines. I also found out that I actually had 3.5cc's in after surgery and I didn't realize til I asked about it. I was 4.5cc at my last appt, and I was up for a .5cc fill, but they said they had a little manuevering room so they put in 1cc and at 4.5cc i could eat anything and now at 5.5cc I can't eat ANYTHING without it coming back up, i chew and chew and chew and it doesn't matter..........so that .5cc really makes a bigger difference than you might think...............it doesn't take EVERYONE a high amount of cc's in a band for it to work.
  2. Hi, everyone!!! It's been a LONG while since I posted, but I've been reading through some posts and it sounds like everyone is doing pretty good, maybe a few minor set backs but the support and encouragement from everyone is awesome. I am having a REALLY rough time, I gained 4lbs back so now i'm at like 8lbs, and I haven't been able to lose ANYTHING. I only have 1.5ccs in my band and i've just past the 2month post op mark. I'm so dissapointed. I am getting another fill on Wednesday (it was supposed to be December 2, but I called to see if I could get in faster because I feel so hungry and never full) I know they are only gonna give me 1cc maybe 1.5, although i'm going to ask for 2cc...............they are very conservative there. If I can only get 1cc then i'm going to ask if I can have another before I drive to MS for Christmas with the family. My husband is coming home for rest and relaxation from afghanistan in about 3wks and I was really hoping to have made a bigger change by now..............so that bums me out. I ordered new athletic shoes so they should be in today............any busy moms have exercises to share that they do that have a big impact??? Or DVD's???
  3. BTW, yes, I know i haven't lost alot of weight myself, but i've only had 1 fill of 1.5cc...............so I hardly have any restriction at all and I'm having a rough time. Just because somene says that they have had a bite of bday cake doesn't mean that they are gorging on those things and making bad food choices.
  4. Wow, some people can be kind of harsh. It really all depends on how often and how much of these "bad" items you are having. My doctor and the dietician that works in his office have said that it's all about moderation, you can have almost anything in moderation. The dietician has said that if you completely cut yourself off then you'll just want it that much more. I was given the ok to have an occasional glass of red wine after 6wks. I also did have a small piece, about a 2 or 4 bit piece of bday cake at a friends homecoming party.............I didn't have the big ole' chunk that I would have had in the past, just a small piece. Should we completely cut out things that we like and wait 6months down the road to try them again and then possibly gorge on them because it's been so long and tastes so good, or should we just try to moderate now????????? My dietician told me to think of my calories like the money in my checking acct.....................and to choose wisely how I spend those calories, she said you want to get the most bang for your buck, so you want to use those few calories you can eat by making wise choices and pick things that will give your body the most nutrition..........however it's ok to splurge on something a little extra every now and then. So I just stick to that advice. It's totally unrealistic to say I"M NEVER EVER GONNA EAT THAT AGAIN.
  5. Wow, I sure wish I could have had my first fill as quickly as you and that it would have been 4cc.................... I had my surgery on 9/9/09 and I couldn't have my first fill til October21st................and only 1cc, I feel NO restriction at all. I haven't lost anymore weight, all the weight I did lose I lost in the first 2wks post op. Next fill isn't til December 2, i guess we'll see..........I have a 10CC band
  6. Thankyou very much Loveslady :smile2: I hope I caught it and started treating it soon enough.
  7. Thankyou so much, i hope there is good news tomorrow.....one more thing.....CA MRSA (community acquired) is contagious if the wound is open or leaking fluid
  8. Well the cultures came back from my skin infection and it's Mrsa.............so I have to get another antibiotic called bactrim. I have my appt. at the surgeons office tomorrow at 9:30 and they are going to check it, she said sometimes this certain type of infection can definately be a cause for port removal for up to 4 months and it may delay my first fill if it's not cleared up in time. From what I understand this particular infection can get into the port itself and cause problems and not clear up easily. Just a word to you all don't assume just because you have no fever that you have no infection........I still have NOT run a fever and I noticed the infection on Thursday. If your inscison doesn't look "normal" or you feel alot more pain 2wks after surgery than you did right after surgery something is not right. I had a large red area, itchyness, warm/hot to touch, hard packed tissue like thing all around and on my inscisonand no puss til the 2nd day and it was very very sore...............but NO FEVER don't wait for the fever to get checked. This particular infection can be hard to treat. i'll keep ya posted...................Goodluck to the rest of you, don't get scared by this post.....there aren't many people that get this from this surgery i've already had it in the past so i was more susceptible (sp?) Take care
  9. My stomach did this very often in the beginning mainly when I was on full liquids...............it started to get sort of comical the louder it was, hahaha
  10. I had already done the antibiotic topical for 2days and it got worse, I have an appt Tuesday but since there was alot of hardness and burning around and on top of my insicion my sister (who is a nurse) told me that I should at least have it looked at before Tuesday -the only reason it's not til tuesday is because of the time it takes me to get up there and it has to fit into a certain time after I drop off my son and before I can pick him up- ANYWAY........so I called my primary here and guess what the WHOLE office was closed, the whole freakin' office at a class.........so i went to the ER on base just to get antibiotics and once i got there I noticed it was starting to puss and so end of the story is I have cellulitis (which i've had before after my csection with my son) and they gave me meds and told me to watch for fever. I also started having some lightheadedness on the drive to drop my kids off at my friends. I guess i'll know more tuesday
  11. Well...........i'm worried. I have having port site pain, and redness. It's also hard and warm to the touch. I'm not running a fever or feeling sick. My port site just hurts alot. I am going to the doctor on Tuesday, I hope they don't have to remove the port.............if I have an infection and they have to remove the port then i'm just going to have everything removed. I'm not going to chance getting another infection. THIS SUCKS
  12. i know that this was posted a while ago, but I'm so glad I found it when i searched. I lost 13lbs and haven't had my first fill yet. My surgery was on 9/9/09. My first fill is oct. 21st. I have gained 2 of those lbs back and i was so very dissapointed. But i'm glad to see i'm not the only one.
  13. Well my doc and his nurse both told me no on the refried beans so i'm just gonna stick with that for now........
  14. well im not technically on mushies yet but the protein powder gave me severe diarreah so they said i could do eggs and tuna for the added protein. i think i have a 10cc band but i will have to ask.
  15. Well i'm eating Campbells Harvest Select Zesty tomato bisque (not just regular tomato soup) it has 100cals for 1 cup but i'm only doing 1/2 cup. I was told that I shouldn't be at 1 full cup per meal til later on. The tuna is one of those 2.9oz packages or i'll have one or two eggs instead of the tuna. I added up my cals for one day and it came to like 690/720 range, and right now they said to strive for 40grams of protein which is about what i'm getting. I don't think i'm drinking enough water though. I am down 13lbs now as of today.
