Total Newbie! Surgery date set & SCARED to death!
Hey! You are having the surgery the day before mine! I start my pre-op diet tomorrow, on New Year's Eve!!! I am nervous about it as well.

Updates
Good Luck, Katrina. I hope you get one soon.

I passed my pre-op appt.
I am done. No more appointments until January 13th, when I check into the hospital. I was so excited to get all the tests over with today. Dr. tells me everything looked good. My liver was a little fatty, but with the pre-diet should help. I shouldn't be surprised as I am a little fatty. The language barrier is kind of annoying but I trust the Korean doctors.

Flying to my surgery! 2 more days! (12/19/2009)
Wow, I am jealous! I am so glad it went well. Do you plan on watching the DVD now? I don't know if I would want to see mine....

Lowest Weight EVER!!! (and some other reflections)
Awesome! Congrats!!!

What do you want to do that you couldn't do before the sleeve?
Ok, what do I want to do? 1. I want to buy clothes in a store--not online. I live in Korea and Koreans are tiny. Size 8-10 is considered XL. I have to buy my plus clothes online. :-( 2. I want to go scuba diving again and not have to put on 20 pounds of weight to get under (remember hearing that fat floats??) 3. I want to hang out on the beach this summer without wearing a tankini and board shorts.

Got a date yesterday!
Hey, my date is the same! Exciting huh?

I have a date :d
My date changed to the 14th. So it looks like we will be getting it done around the same time! How exciting. I will be on the other side of the world in Korea. Good luck!

Did you tell?
I have told anyone who has asked about it. I have to get a substitute teacher and I don't want to be dishonest. I found someone who had had the surgery done because of some investigative googling. I told her she looked great and asked her how she did it. She told me diet and exercising. I guess she wasn't lying, but seriously....

Nervous about vacation
Unfortunately, since I live in a country where the average weight for a woman my size 5'2" is less than 100 pounds, weight loss surgery is not very common. I don't have the time or the resources to go back to the US to get this done and Korea has some of the best medical care in the world. I am hoping to have children in the next couple of years. On another note, I know someone who I work with who had this surgery done here at the same hospital. She wasn't very honest about why she missed work and the only reason I know it was her is because I did some navering (Korean google). I would love her advice and her opinions, but since she told everyone she had her gall bladder removed, should I ask her? Tell her I know? Do you think she would get defensive?

Nervous about vacation
I will be his 13th VSG patient. From the research I have done, it looks like when people have stomach cancer the surgeon removes part of the stomach that has the cancer. I can see how that can easily translate over to the gastric sleeve. He is not an inexperienced surgeon, he has done thousands of stomach cancer surgeries.

Nervous about vacation
I appreciate the info. The boyfriend is just nervous that I will go all crazy with food in Vietnam. I don't think he understands that it's not like I am going to Italy with Pastas and cheeses. This is Vietnam....

Nervous about vacation
I have my surgery scheduled for 18th of January in Seoul, Korea. I am super nervous about it since I am only his 13th patient. He had been doing surgery for over 15 years dealing with stomach cancer patients. Anyway, so I am going on vacation for Christmas and a little nervous about my diet the month before surgery. I am sure I will be fine, but it is just nerve racking to know I can't eat/drink whatever I want on vacation. :tongue_smilie:

Spin classes
My 55 year old mother is a spinning instructor. Talk about hard-core. It's fun if you can get the right instructor.

Newbie story
After months of "lurking" on this board I decided to go to a consultation for the VSG. Unfortunately I will have to pay out of pocket --my BMI is not high enough for my insurance to pay. I don't really feel like jumping through the hoops to go around that. I am 5'2 and 210 pounds. They won't approve anything below a 40 bmi. So I put some money together and my grad school savings and scheduled an appt for January 18th (MLK Day).
