  1. It will be four months post for me on 11/29 and I have lost 52 pounds. I know that I need to exercise more than I'm doing right now. I try to get in at least 80oz of protein a day and I drink around 64oz of water, which I need to drink more. I would love to lose 100 lbs by my bandiversary July 29,2010.
  2. Don't worry that happened to me the first few days after surgery. I bought some crytalized ginger at the HEB and the ginger helps you to burp, but only eat a small piece. After about the 2nd week I was burping on a regular basis. Trying walking around more. Gook Luck
  3. Hi Everyone, I'm officially apart of the Band Family. The surgery went smooth and I did not have a Hiatal Hernia....Thank God!!! Dr. Hollis was excited to hear that I lost 20lbs on the pre op diet. He took a picture of what my stomach looked like before and after the band, so every once and awhile I just look at the photo...Can't believe that I have been banded. I'm not having any problems with my incisions, just the soreness of the gas. I've been walking, taking the GasX and using the heating pad. I feel way better today than I have felt for the past 4 days. I'm scheduled to go into work tomorrow, but I think I will take off to give myself another day to recup  Another issue I have is that I have not been able to have a BM since the day of surgery. I took some Milk of Magnesia on Saturday and still have not gone. Any suggestions????? Lovely
  4. Monday will be day 5 and I have not had a BM yet. I took some Milk of Magnesia on Saturday but have not seen any results.
  5. RestlessMonkey, Thank you for the advice, I have already taken the ginger, but will call my doctor in the am to see if the ginger will have a negative side effect to my band. I did not think about consulting my doc first before I took the ginger, I guess I was in a hurry to get some relief from these gas pains. Thanks again
  6. I was just recently banded on July 29th and I'm having problems with the gas and not being able to burp. I feel like I need to burp, but it just wont come up. I've been walking and taking plenty of Gas X, but the Gas X is not doing it for me. I'm on my second box. So today my sister told me about chewing on some crystalized ginger from HEB. I just bought a bag of it and will see if it helps me. She told me to just eat a penny to a nickel size portion. I have a 14cc band and my doctor filled me with 8cc the day of surgery. I'm able to keep everything down that I eat so I do not think I'm too tight. If I could just get rid of the gas and start burping I will feel much normal.
  7. I'm on day 7 of my pre op and have not cheated. I have not had an urge to cheat because my doc has me on 2 protein shakes a day which I can add frozen or fresh fruit and one meal consisting of 6-8oz of lean meat, all the green veggies I want and a cup of fruit. I went to see the doc after being on the diet for 3 days and I had already lose 5lbs. One thing that has helped me through these 7 days is when I drink my shake I also drink 16oz of water, so it takes me a while to finish the shake and water. Before you know it it's time for lunch.
  8. The most hurtful thing to me is to hear my young son ask me why am I so big and as soon as an informercial comes on he tells me "mom you need to call that number". I can careless what other people say, but to hear those words from my child really bothers me. I know he loves me but just does'nt want mom to be big and wants me to be healthy.
  9. July 29th is my hot date with the band.
  10. Thank you Becky and Hotajack!!! I'm so excited!!!! I will make sure I tell Dr. Hollis you said Hi Becky. I have not had the pleasure of meeting Beatrice yet. The only ones I've come in contact with so far is Cindy, Connie and Kristen. Thanks for the Gas X advice. I bought the strips after my 5th WLV...LOL  Thank you so much for the cheers....I will keep you guess posted and of course have some questions for you Becky concerning the post op portion of the surgery. Take Care
  11. I've been approved!!!!! I called Cigna and they told me that I was approved as of today. I will start my pre-op diet tomorrow and will meet with Dr. Hollis on 7/17 and the surgery is set for 7/29.
  12. Thanks Becky and Hotajack....Take Care!!!!!
  13. I'm hoping to have my surgery in July. I completed my last WLV on 6/30 and was told by my PA that she would submit my paperwork that evening. So I'm hoping to hear something from my PA or insurance company by 7/10. I'm anxious to get the call saying "you have been approved". BFN
  14. Thank you hotajack for the reply...I've just completed my last WLV today and can't wait to hear that I've been approved. Hopefully I should hear something by the end of next week.
  15. I'm hoping to have my procedure in August. I have six WLV as well. I'm working on number three right now. I live in the Houston area on the North side of town. Are you going through True Results?
  16. Thank you for the reply Becky...I feel much better now that I have decided to go with Dr. Hollis. Thanks a bunch!!!!!
  17. Has anyone on this site been banned by Dr. Ken Hollis? Any comments about him? I've decided to have the surgery and chose him through TR.
