Mourning the loss of food
dear lay, i was just reading your post and have a question, i am having my sleeve surg on november 1st, and i have had the lapband for 21/2 yrs and a revision of the sleeve back in march, so, i did the liver reduction diet for two weeks prior to the band, but when the doc scheduled me for the sleeve, he never mentioned the diet again. i was wondering what your diet consists of and for how long, because besides wanting to shrink my liver, i need to detox from the sugar..thanks for listening and ill wait for your reply.....i am sooooooooooo scared, how do u feel about your upcoming surg.? PS what is nutrimed?

450 pounds, 23 y old, TERRIFIED!
thanks rose and emma for all your hlep and encouragment, i really appreciate it, i asked about drinking because i am not suppose to drink with the band because it flushes the food thru and then you are hungry again. im not sure if the same is true for the sleeve or if it because they want you to get your solids in first....i was also curious about the hunger and craving issues because i have read the remove the part of the stomach that releases the hormone ghrelin that causes hunger, but not sure if u still crave food. I am sooo scared, im afraid of leaks and infection etc...also, does everyone get those drains and how many for how long....thanks again, i appreciate any input so very much.... vicki

Hi, i am writing to you because of your age, i am 54 and have been terrified of my up and coming surgery on 11/1/10. everyone on the site seems to be young and i am terrified, i have had 2 bands, and now going for the sleeve. also, does the sleeve take away the hunger and cravings or do u have to work hard with your diet like the band, and can u drink when u eat...sooooo many questions,,,sorry...............vicki

What made you decide to switch from the band to the sleeve?
Im with you, my doc also offered bypass and i was to affraid to be that radical so his second option was the sleeve, i too have had two band surgeries and have now gained 40 lbs in 7 months. i hope the sleeve is every thing the band was not. i just want to eat smaller portions and not be hungry all the time, i hate the fills and un fills and the port pain and pb'ing etc. my surgery is scheduled on 11/1, i am so scared but just need to get to healthy weight and get on with my life...

Dr. Aaron Hoffman - Lap Band done in Buffalo, NY (Dr. Hoffman)
hey guys, for some reason im not getting notified of any posts, so thought no one was posting. going to see the hoff on tues. i think i had sympathy pregnancy for Rain cause thats how much i gained since u got pregnant, 35 lbs..lol....i am up to 4.8, but my restriction isnt enough to make me lose weight cause nothing is coming off!!! grrrrrrrrrrrr......i bought some clothes back in march and i cannot get them over my thights and my arms are like stuffed sausages in the sleeves, and im not exagerating either...started aquatherapy a few weeks ago, but its more like pt than exercize, so its not helping with the weight issue....so now here comes holloween, thanksgiving, christmas, and a cruise in march, so that will complete the year since my revision and i will probably be up another 35 lbs if im not careful.....:smile2: PS. this ticker is not current, wish it were.....
