I think it depends on you. I was banded on Dec 23, 08. I have lost 18lbs and have 80 to go...I have a friend who also has the choice. I let her feel where my port is (and you can feel this thing inside of you) and she freaked. There is also more care needed with the band. You have to get fills and very carefully watch how you eat, NO drinking 30 minutes before or after your meals. It just depends what you are willing to go through to loose the weight and begin your new life. Gastric bypass has way more side effects too...I wish I would have gone bypass...:blushing:

My fil was awful. I was not numbed and he missed the port several times. I cant believe the pain I was in. I asked for him to numb me, but allowed myself to be talked out of it..He said he doesn't like to use it. WOW It was so painful. He put in 4cc's in and I dread going back on the 26th of this month...He said it will be eaiser next time. Lets hope so cause the pain is unbelievable

Hi Teri. Congradulations on you new beginning. One thing I would ask of your surgeon is if they will numb you before your fills. Mine does not and I go through so much pain when I have to get it done. Please make sure they do it will make your journey so much more pleasent

People say they notice I am loosing weight. When I tell them I had lap band surgery, you would think I just told them I walk on water. Their so in AW of this surgery. Is there anyone in my area who has had this surgery?

I just had my surgery and I am always so hungry...I have not had a fill yet and the doctor says I get the first one in 4 to 6 weeks. I have lost 6 pounds and im very frustrated with the pain where the insicion is. Has anyone else felt this pain? Thanks:blushing:
