  1. Ok so my sister was just banded dec 5, 08 and she just found out yesterday that she's 2 months prego meaning that she conceived literally right after surgery. (I know what a dumb dumb) She hasn't told her doctor yet mainly because of fear and I told i don't know how this will affect her baby. So... basically I wanna know just how much trouble she's in. Thank you in advance!

I probably should've started this blog at the very beginning of my journey but better late than never right? I guess I'll start from the beginning. Back in High school I wasn't very overweight. I actually looked pretty good now that I look at pics of myself. I wore between and 11-13 and weighed between 145 and 160. After graduation, I married a guy that I shouldn't have and I gained about 80 lbs. So then I was up to 240. After about 2 1/2 years of depression from an abusive relationship we finally seperated. I lost about 30 lbs and I was back into 12/13 and very happy because I met the real love of my life. We dated for about year and he proposed to me. We got married and he deployed to afghanistan 2 weeks later. During his deployment I gained the weight I lost back plus some bringing me to the grand total of 247 lbs. People when then look at me say I don't look that big b ut everyone knows when you actually carry this weight and see it on yourself its a whole different story. Naturally gaining all that weight made me more depressed which put strain on my marriage. I'm so lucky that even though my husband and I had fights to where I thought it was really over, he never gave up on me. He stuck by my side. I am truly blessed. I tried to work out and eat right but you know how that goes... your motivated you start that monday and by thursday your slacking again. I decided to get the band because a friend of mine had it and lost 60 lbs. Also my older sister decided to be banded with me. She was banded Dec. 5. Since being banded on February 16th as of yesterday I've lost 13.5 lbs. I figured out today if I lose 2 lbs a week minimum, I can lose about 66lbs by my birthday (oct. 5) leaving about 9 lbs to go to my goal. I know thats not counting the plateaus that seem inevitable. I just really want to do well on this. The stories of people who lost huge are such and inspiration to me and then there are the stories of people who only lost a little and I know its mainly because they probably weren't doing what they were supposed to. I just don't want to mess this up. This was a huge decision I made and I want to be successful. I want to be happy again with myself. I owe to myself and my husband. I want him to have the confident woman he married back. He's been so good to me.Ok well I think thats enough for my first post. Keep in touch, I'll try to update at least once a week....or month...we'll see Later Bandsters!

  4. Trust me I felt the same way the night before my surgery. It will all go away. Just try your best to relax. I know its easier said than done but in the end this will all be worth it. Good luck to you and God Bless
  5. Good afternoon my fellow bandsters!! So as I suggested last week here is our first weekly weigh in. I just got back from my post-op appointment and the verdict is....drum roll please..... 4.5 lbs bringing my total loss from the pre-op diet to 13.5lbs. I can't wait to hear everyone else's successes!!!
  6. I'll be honest, they didn't do anything for me. They say walking is supposed to help too....that was a little better but I still had really bad gas pains. The thing that helped the most for me was having my husband kinda tap on my back as if he were trying to burp me helped. Good luck and keep in touch!
  7. Good afternoon ladies! I just wanted to see how everyone is feeling. I was feeling a lot better until today. My delayed time of the month decided to visit me. I don't know what it is about this time but I'm in so much pain. I always have really bad cramps but this time is almost unbearable. I'm supposed to return to work tomorrow but I already told my hubby if it doesn't get better I'm not going. I hope everyone else is doing better.
  8. Sometimes you just need to rant to make yourself feel better. The only advice I have for you is to pray on it. In the end it will be worth the wait. I know it's hard right now but all these hoops your insurance is making you jump through will be worth it for you in the end. Good luck to you. :sneaky:
  9. Ok well I'm not an expert and I've only been banded for 3 days but i do know you're not supposed to drink while you eat. You're supposed to wait at least 30 mins after your meal because all your doing is pushing the food through the band which is probably while you're not feeling full as fast as you should which in turn is keeping you from losing weight. Also how big are your portions and are you excersing? These are all factors that can keep you from losing weight.
  10. Well the voting has finished and we're now the February Foxes! So welcome and congrats on your date!!
  11. Shelly, Congrats to you!!! That's super lucky that you had all those cancellations. I'm so glad your potassium levels were good too. I'm still in shock that I actually did it. I think that we should do a weekly weigh in to see where everyone is at. What's everyone's thoughts to that?
  12. :rose: Babe let me congratulate you first!!! We're in band land ** Happy Dance** :Dancing_wub:My surgery was supposed to be at 10:30 so they had me be there at 8:30. Well since they had some people before me they went over big time. I didn't get in until almost 1:30 and I was starving!!! lol. Well my surgery was a success obviously and my surgeon even said that I did great on my pre-op he said that my liver was so small he didnt even have to move it and it saved him 20 mins. Oh and i lost 10 lbs in 2 weeks from it!! Well to me more technical its nine but still you know?? I can't believe how worried about I was last night. I mean yes I'm in pain and I do have some gas pain in my shoulder too but this is all so worth it. I can't wait to hear everybody elses stories. Be safe down there in Mexico Babe and too all you others if you're not home yet. We're official Bandsters!!!!!
  13. Hey everyone! I just wanted to wish you all luck tomorrow! I pray that surgeries are successful and that you will heal fast. I'll be honest, I'm actually feeling a lot more nervous now. I know I'm just psyching myself out but its like I just want to make sure that I'm doing this for the right reason. I know I'm doing this for my health, my knee (tore my acl and meniscus in my right knee) and I do want to look and feel better about myself but I don't want to do this for vanity you know? I guess its really late in the game to be thinking about this but I'm just want to be sure with myself that I'm making the right decision. :cursing: You know what? I know I'm making the right decision. I don't want to live like this anymore. I don't want my weight to rule me and I want to be comfortable in my own skin. Ok I know I'm sounding crazy right now lol.:scared2:I hope I'm not the only one feeling this way lol. Really everyone be safe and I'll update you after my surgery and I look forward to everyone else's updates! I'm going to try to go to sleep now. Night everyone! :crying:
  14. :party:Congrats Jen!! I know you're so excited!! I'll be banded on monday and I'm just ecstatic! Let me be the first to welcome you to the February Foxes and please keep in touch!!
  15. I know exactly how you feel Babe!! I think I may be on my "days" during surgery too!! I wasn't hoping that I would've started this past week but no luck! I think with you, it might be the stress and excitement that may be making you late. So when do you leave for mexico?
  16. Welcome to the site!! and congrats on your date! Guess you will be joining the rest of the February Foxes!
  17. I'll be honest, I'm not keeping my band a secret simply because I'm proud. No one can say anything to me about making a positive change in my life. I totally understand your point though of not wanting to be watched with your eating and how fast your losing weight but everyone is different. You could be doing everything right and still not lose as fast as some else. And also those people who decide to judge you on how fast you're suppose to be losing..who made them doctors??? u know? thats just my two cents on this. Congrats to you though for getting the band and good luck with your pre-op diet. They have me on the low carb/fat high protein diet for mine. Keep in touch!
  18. Congrats and welcome to the 2/16 Banders!!!
  19. Everyone does go through these emotions and its totally natural. I guess with me I just want to keep in my head the positive instead of the negative you know? I guess my jitters are gone now because i got to the point that this is it my last chance to do something for myself. Again good luck
  20. I'm a little confused, is this a poll for the 09 feb. bandsters? or are ya'll just changing your name?
  21. Ok first off just remember the most important thing, why you are doing this. I know surgery is scary but it will be over before you know it. I've only had one other surgery in my life and it was on my knee so I kinda know what to expect. And don't think about the friday the 13th thing. That is just a superstition and they only way superstitions have their power is if you believe in them (I know it sounds corny lol but just trying to help ) Think of it as the first day of you becoming the person you've always dreamed of. I'm a couple days after you and I'm more excited than nervous now. You will do just fine and I promise you, you will look back at this realize it wasn't that bad . Good luck to you and stay in touch.
  22. 6 more days! i know what you mean about wanting to cheat. I swear this past weekend there was so much temptation but I stayed strong! I hope it is easier on the post-op. Hope everyone is doing good!
  23. Well my fellow February Bandsters you have spoken. It looks like the February 09 bandsters new name will be the February Foxes!! To all of you who have already been banded this month congrats and I hope you are doing well, and to everyone like who will be banded soon good luck and best wishes!
  24. Good Morning fellow Bandsters!! Can ya'll believe we have 10 more day until bandland!! I'm soo excited, scared, nervous and happy. My best friend gave me some really good advice that I would like to share with everyone who is feeling what I'm feeling, "Think about why you are doing this and that the benefit is greater than the pain, the pain will only last a few days, but if your serious about losing this weight you will benefit a lifetime from this." Everytime I feel anxiety about this I think about what she said to me. I hope that helps anyone. I will be banded by Dr. Adam Smith of the Fort Worth Lapband. Good luck everyone and keep in touch!
