  1. I have never heard of that before. My doctor didn't say anything about not drinking caffeine. I drink coffee every day. The only thing I was told not to drink was carbonated liquids, like diet or regular sodas, because the carbonation could stretch the stomach. I am curious to hear what others have heard about this.
  2. I am so glad things are running along smoothly for you! I just had my first band fill on Tuesday, and it was super easy. I didn't feel any pain, just a tiny pinch when the needle went in. It hurts worse than that when they draw your blood. So far, this has been a total godsend. Hopefully it all goes as well for you! Just keep us posted!
  3. Hi There! I just ran across your post, and I was just banded on 12/19/08 by Dr. Wagner at the Outpatient Center. I was also self pay, and I guess I spent about $15,000 total, but that included everything, even a years worth of fills. So far, I have lost almost 30 lbs, and I am feeling great. I go for my first fill on 1/29, so I will let you know how it goes. Dr. Wagner was really great, and so far I HIGHLY recommend the surgery. Good Luck and keep us all in the loop!
  4. Thanks Lucky! I have actually lost 4 more lbs since I wrote my first post, so I am at a total of 27 lbs lost! I wasn't really expecting to lose anymore until I got my first fill, but I started walking at the gym, so I guess that helped. Things are going great. I am really lucky, I have had no issues or problems with my band. So far, everything is on track! It sounds like you are having a good time of things too. Please keep us all updated on your progress. It is SO nice to have others to talk to who know EXACTLY what I am going through!
  5. Hi There! I was banded on 12/19/08, and so far, so good. I am starting mushies today, so that is exciting, since it has been all liquids up till now. I am down 23 lbs total, and I am thrilled so far. I have started my walking too, so hopefully that will help too. I am experiencing no pain at this point, by my stomach around my port site is still a bit swollen. It looks a bit weird sticking out like it does, but no one can see it but me. I am looking forward to so many things in the new year! I am really looking forward to summertime. I know I won't have all my weight lost, but I am hoping to be down an additional 50 lbs if possible. I can't wait to get out on lake and enjoy myself and my new health! My total goal is to lose 128 lbs. 23 are gone already, so I am on my way. I hope all of you have much success, and I would love to hear about your progress and we can help root each other on!
  6. I just got banded on 12/19, and I have lost around 23 lbs total to this point, both before and after surgery. It has definitely slowed down now. I am still on creamy Soups and liquids, but I am able to start mushies tomorrow. I'm not losing much of anything right now, and I am starting to feel more hungry. After reading these posts, it looks like this is pretty normal. My first fill isn't until 1/28, so I have a lot of time to wait. I don't mind not losing anything else until I get my first fill, I just don't want to gain anything when I start eating mushies. Thanks for all the great posts, they are really helpful!
