    Drinking while eating??

I have been having severe low to mid back pain now and then and one bandster told me if you drink while you eat you'll feel like you have a fist in your back. I am now wondering if this has caused my pain or it's just exercising. Anybody experience back pain after drinking during meals or heard of it? I try not to but need to drink a little bit of water sometimes. There have been times when I forget and take more sips and then think " OH NO, WHAT AM I DOING DRINKING WITH FOOD?" Hard habit to break, used to guzzle water or diet tea during meals before surgery. I also have a nutcracker type esophagus so drinking helps it go down. ps. I was banded 12/26/08 and am down 48lbs, just had 1 fill of 1cc so far and feel good except back problems.

Do you have a December Date?

Hello all you Holiday Hotties, It's been awhile. Congrats on all the weight loss and overcoming the ups, downs, and challenges! :tt1: Lets not forget to celebrate the little victories along the way, like fitting into some of your favorite smaller clothing, seeing the scale numbers go down , feeling lighter, reducing meds, and getting some compliments too! I am so happy to be "really doing it " this time - we're gonna win, right? I am down almost 40 lbs since my Dec. 26 surgery, that weight loss includes the 2 week pre and post op liquid diet. I didn't have my 1st fill untill Feb. 9th, got only 1 cc because the doc said I was doing very well and I said I didn't want to push it and get sick easily. Didn't feel too much restriction, but enough for me for now. They told us not to eat red meat for 6 months and be careful with chicken, and chicken is a little tricky sometimes. I have been slowly increasing my exercise :Banane43:to about 5 days a week, I just walk 3 days a week and have added weights 2 days a week, also swam once, it was great but I need a new bathing suit. I have back and knee problems so I am achy a lot. What do you all take for aches and pains? :tt1: Before surgery I took advil daily, that's supposedly a no-no for us, but Tylenol is not an anti-inflammatory and doesn't do much to help.:frown: I have taken 1 pill crushed up in a little crystal light, a few times, her and there, no problem. Any suggestions? Thanks, Gigi

Any out there from South Florida!

Hi Diane, I had my surgery on Dec. 26 at the Cleveland Clinic in Weston. They have a very safe, strict, and successful program. I am doing well, lost 21 lbs from the date I started - 2 weeks of Protein shakes before and 2 weeks after surgery. It's not easy but you can do it! All went well but it took me a while to regain my strength and feel well enough to work, the whole 2 weeks they suggest to recover is what I needed. However, I have a very busy/active job so needed all my strength. I am feeling lighter, optimistic, and ready to conquer the weight problem for good! iwish the best for you, if you have any questions, just ask......................Good luck, Gigi

    Mederma on Incision Sites?

My doctor told me my cuts were closed and I could put Mederma on, that was after a week and a half. I have been putting neosporin on them since I took the bandages off and left it only covered by my clothing. Nobody said to do that but I had heard it helps cuts heal faster and think that it did.
  6. Lizzy, you look nothing like Roseann, you are already a hottie, so get that thought out of your head!

    Back pain

The mid back pain hurt more than my sugery cuts! The nurse said it could be the way that I was positioned on the operation table and then I had to just lay on my back for about 2 days in the hospital, so could be that too.

Do you have a December Date?

Hey all you Holiday Hotties, are we all banded yet? I had mine done on the 26th and have been home recovering since the 27th. I was very uncomfortable and weak the first 3 days but am better every day, still a little weak though. I am back on the liquid diet I had to do 2 weeks before banding and my post op appt. is Mon. I'll also meet with the nutritionist then too and hopefully she'll give me "the mushies" I lost 14 lbs before surgery and about 5 more since. I had laproscopic surgery but my tummy is still bruised and swollen, how bout you all? Well, the important thing is that we were brave and strong enough to take this major step in our lives and I am so proud we all did! Happy New Year Hotties, may this year bring us health and happines! Gigi from Ft. Lauderdale, Fl.

Do you have a December Date?

That's so funny! My Christmas dinner was clear broth, :tongue2: makes me wish I could have had the protein shakes I was drinking the last 2 weeks. I did lose 13lbs on that so it was some positive reinforcement along the way. I look forward to them again, ironic, the thing I was complaing about, I'd be glad to have right now! So, was the baby food any good?

Do you have a December Date?

Hi Fran, Thanks for your reply I did better than expected the first day of liquids, I had the protein drinks and the broth helped for a change of taste. I felt pretty good until the end of the night and today I feel really weak. I have heard from someone else too that the 3rd day is better, so I look forward to that as I have to go to work tomorrow. I weighed myself today and was down 4lbs, all those trips to the bathroom I suppose, but a nice suprise for a usually slow loser! Well, anyway, I want to congratulate all the newly banded and wish you the best of luck and health, I will be following your progress!

Do you have a December Date?

Hi everyone, I wanted to say Hi and intoduce myself. :cursing: My date is December 26 as long as I pass my stress test on the 16th. I have to do a 2 week pre-op liquid diet and this is my first day of that. I would appreciate any ideas on what do do to make it a little more tolerable. What's funny is before I drank my morning protein shake today I wasn't too hungry, it wasn't very good and now I'm starving! I would like it if anybody has some soup ideas. Anyway, I am a little scared and excited, I want to be healthy and lighter, take the weight off my knees and back, and so important to me is I want to have a child and be an energetic mommy someday. Good luck to everyone in making your dreams come true, I am proud of all of us for taking this step to change our lives for the better! :rolleyes2: PS. I love the name Holiday Hotties!
