  7. Well at least only 6 pounds in a yr they should be proud of u! Congrats on maintaining. I like u am on my own after they told me they thought I had lost more than they anticipated with lapband; I like u have more to lose and we can do it!!! We have the best tool available and look how far u have come!! Great job! I have faith we can keep losing and prove them to them we are more than a statistic! Here is my next plan of action: Getting excited got first of a six-month program appointment on Thursday; having to use new followup surgeon as my lapband surgeon quit doing them and providing followups for lapband. New doc requires u attend 6-month program will be good for me as will be new accountability every month to them and hoping will kickstart my weight loss and break my plateau! Hope everyone is doing well today here.

  9. Do you still see your surgeon after lapband on a regular basis? They released me to come only once a year unless I felt I needed an adjustment. I miss having to go every 3 months for accountability and really wished I could start going back every three months. I know you would think this far out from my surgery that I would not still need that kind of accountability but I do!! LOL They did not take my brain out, where all the mind games go on with you thinking you want to eat, chocolate cravings, etc. LOL Good luck at your doc visit
  10. Hi Vicki. Well, I can say, I have shared your experience. I did have band slippage after my first year of lapband. Luckily insurance paid for revision surgery and placement of new band. I was crushed emotionally when it happened, but my doctor assured me he was sure I had followed all rules precisely. I am not sure what caused the slippage, but he had told me the last couple of times he had looked at it under fluoroscopy with barium swallow that it looked like I had what he called "a generous pouch" which is a sign of possible future slippage. So when was your revision for replacement? we can encourage one another here. Good luck and thanks for your post.
  11. Hi Heidib, Glad to meet ya. Congrats on your success! WOOHOO. Hope to stay on the boards more often than I have n a while to keep me accountable. Lost 140 so far but Still got 80 more pounds to lose, so, recommitting! Have a blessed day!
  12. K been lurking off and on for a while, today is my 8-year bandiversary! I have been blessed to have lost a total of 140 pounds to start with, and over time, slowly let old habits take over....mainly drinking with meals!! I struggle so hard with this. I have had a 25 pound gain in the last 3 years due to me slipping off the bandwagon and drinking with meals and stopping exercise.... I see you all are recommitting so I am chosing today my bandiversary to revamp and recommit as well. May we all be successful in our recommittments to our bands and support one another here.
  13. Hello, Seen your post and just had to reply. I have been banded 8 years exactly today. I have lost 140 total only to gain 25 back during this time, but I guess considering I am that far out from the surgery, that is not bad, but I still have 80 more pounds to lose. So....I feel your pain, the part where you said "acting like you don't even have a band" hit home.....I have let my old habits slip back in and take over...which are now extremely hard to break! My BIGGEST pitfall is drinking with meals. It is such a mental thing with me...thinking food will get stuck if i don't sip with meals.... I am dead wrong. I know I will be fine as long as I chew chew chew and take small bites.... it is just something I self-sabatoge myself with that I struggle with greatly. So, now trying harder now that today is my 8 year bandiversary! Setting new goals to get back to bandster rules and get rid of the other 80 pounds I need to lose!! Yes, I can do this and so can you, I am proud of you all for where you are now and what you have accomplished so far. Good luck to all of us!
  14. Hi, I have been banded since 2004 and lost 140 my first year with the band, I am 42 and love my band! I still need to lose 75 pounds I would be happy to correspond with you via email. ibtyping@gmail.com is my email. ibbanded
  15. Hi all, been banded since 2004 and God has blessed me to have lost 140 pounds, I am now struggling to lose the remainder 80-90 pounds needed to be considered healthy. I just went to my first meeting last week for the First Place diet bible study program, anyone else on this? I have been a Christian since I was about 9 and know that our bodies are the temple of God and feel so guilty for being gluttenous all those years and allowing my body to get that big, I currently need support and prayer for night time snacking/eating. I do so good all day long and know the rules of the band, no snacking between meals, etc, but have not lost in over 6 months and been the same wt and guess just got depressed and thought "all of it is over, this is all I am gonna lose" mentatity. That is just the devil I know trying to get me to give up. Please pray for me. anyone else struggle with nighttime snacking? If I could just get in a habit I guess it would be better of doing something else when I am watching tv at night. Thanks for your prayers. Here is an article I just read online about the sin of gluttony and it makes me feel just awful: "The real reason for being overweight is over eating. This is one of the truths that is hard to accept and acknowledge because it only brings guilt and shame. Overeating is sin. It is called gluttony. It is basically the excessive selfish indulgence with worldly pleasure which includes food, sex, money, alcohol and more. It is an addiction which basically means that food becomes the master, and takes the place of God. This is why it is sin and God hates it. What happens in the Church is that because many of us are guilty of this sin, we silently excuse each other and allow each other to continue with this sin. In fact some of our ministers are overweight themselves. This is not good for ourselves and we become examples of evil instead of good. But there is no reason to stay in this situation. It is time to acknowledge this sin, ask forgiveness from God and turn away from it. "

I have failed my band - SUPPORT GROUP

Hey girls, went on the low carb diet last week, down 4 pounds then over the weekend ate some carbs, within moderation and gained them back. I went last week also to a meeting at a local church who were supposedly doing the First Place program (bible study for weight loss) we weighed in, sat around talking and left, no Bible study. Which is what I went for....I asked the "leader" and she said they had been doing the bible study with the book and they just decided thatmeeting to let everyone do that part " on their own" and just meet and weigh and talk once a week. while everyone ws friendly and all, I need SUPPORT! The next meeting is supposed to be tonight, but I am not going but instead am gonna REJOIN weight watchers. at least there you have the accountability and support, not just a roomful of women talking for an hour and focus being on goals, food and weight loss. I hate to pay to go get weighed once a week but have done WW before and the program works if you work the program and I truly just need a weekly accountability. Hope you all are doing well on your goals. I am disgusted with myself been on this plateau forever now and I am way over it...

    First Place wtloss bible study?

Thanks for your post JoannMarie. I know you are right, that once I have asked God to forgive me of the past life to gluttony that he has and I need to ACCEPT that loving forgivness... Please do pray for me, my name is Elane. I guess sometimes I am my own worst enemy, thinking I have so much more to lose., etc, etc... I will start the plan over again, as I have strayed somewhat more so with a lot of snacking between meals. Thanks for your prayers and advice about the other forum

I have failed my band - SUPPORT GROUP

WooHoo! I am hopefully back on track. I went to Curves Gym for women yesterday after being MIA from there for 3 weeks. I was working out huffing and puffing thinking it is just NOT worth the hard work starting over to be away from exercise that long again! I so enjoy the Curves Gym the workers there are so encouarging and helpful. I hope to go back again today and be there at least 3 x per week from now on. I am also going tonight to join a group at a church for First Place weight loss bible study. I am so looking forward to that. It will be another means of weekly accountability for me. GOALS FOR TODAY/WEEK: Drink at least 80 oz Water daily Exercise at Curves Gym 30 minutes x3 per week Walk on treadmill 20 minutes daily Keep a food diary daily on Fitday.com Keep my eyes on the goal of 80 more pounds of weight loss Post a photo of my before/after pics so far on the fridge showing my 140 pound weight loss so far :w00t: for encouargement. LOOK at it often when tempted to eat between meals.

Music, thanks for your response and encouragement. Good luck on YOUR new journey about to start.... I have never regretted the lapband and feel that it probably saved my life....while I had no health problems whatsover at my highest weight of close to 370....It was just amatter of time... my family history is covered with diabetes, cancer, heart problems, etc, etc. I wanted to prevent me from going there hopefully with the 140 pound wt loss. I still have a ways to go (80 pounds more is my goal) and you are right, staying here on the boards will help a bunch, you don't feel like you are "going at it alone". Thanks again and do keep us posted on your surgery day. God bless! ibbanded

It is never to late to get back your good habits *this is true you have established. You seem like you talked yourself into believing you were bad for not going to the gym, so you added more sabotage by eating incorrectly also.(How'd you get inside my head? This is true) You need to learn to stop beating yourself up every time you have a slip. It only makes the problem worse. Stop eating the junk. Throw it away (DONE) and if you don't have any now, don't buy it. Eating correctly again will make you feel better about what you are doing. Then slowly go back to the gym if you are ready. If not, the eating correctly in itself will start your weightloss again. Thanks for the support, refocus, I needed that....I am horrible at beating myself up....got the bad mentatility with "what the heck, I am stuck and will be forever...so why try??" But now if I can stay on this board I can get remotivated....Already planning on going to Curves gym starting tomorrow, got my low cal, low carb Soup stewing right now, smells yummy and boiled me up some eggs, I do best on low carb diets....so thus the eggs. I don't get nearly as hungry either on low carb. So now, I am refocusing and gonna take ONE DAY AT A TIME. They will reweigh me tomorrow at curves and I go for my yearly follow up with my lapband surgreon March 24th so there is me a date goal to work towards.... Thanks again Good luck on your journey as well, I can't eat cereals either, I starve to death! Hang in there. See ya:thumbup:

My biggest struggle is not being faithful to the gym 3 x per week, I got sick 3 or 4 weeks ago and never went back after I got better and have been slipping in chocolate and junk foods again, icecream and candy bars.... I feel like such an idiot because I need and want to lose about 80 more pounds and KNOW what to do... just been so long on a plateau and gained 8 pounds in this time away from the gym....I feel like I am swimming too far from shore and cannot get back on track!
