  1. To all you lovely ladies on this thread - How do I begin to say thank you?? I have read all of your words of advice and wisdom and am writing them all down, literally. It is so easy to forget once you get into every day life after post band that you can slip right back into unhealthy eating habits! I am thinking of doing the pre op diet like you guys have suggested and I am also like you said DE JUNKING my house!! I guess my downfall came when I saw a friend of mine at work that had had the band Oct 07 and saw she basically was eating what she wanted and still lost weight so I figured I could as well.....what a misconception that was on my part!!! I cannot eat what I want and lose weight even with the band bc I am not made that way....maybe she is but I am not. I suppose I needed to hear it from you guys to reassure myself that this is definitely a change I am gonna have to make FOREVER...not just for a few days or months....but for the rest of my life. Who ever said that surgery is the easy way out really has no idea, do they???? This is still the hardest thing I have ever had to do in my life...I have been through divorce, lost a parent, etc etc...and still this is at the top of the list of difficulty!! This is with me every single day...I cannot wish it away, cry it away or hope it away....its here and I have to accept that this is what I have to do to stay healthy PERIOD. I know it is better to come off slower than faster....so I have to take it one day at a time right??? Again, thank you each and every one for your words of encouragement and wisdom and I am definitely coming back every day I can to this thread to check in and get that encouragement I so desperately need! Thank you all....Have a blessed holiday! Michelle
  2. Hello Everyone! It is has been a few months since I signed on to lapbandtalk but I'm back!!! I was banded on 12/01/08 and to date have lost 38 pounds. Of course my highest before pre op diet and nutrition visits was 265.7 soooo I have come a long way but I feel like I am at a stand still and I need help! I have had one fill in my 10 cc band post op and my doc said yesterday that he thinks I am at a good place b/c I have about 6 ccs in my band right now and for what I was describing to him I am where I should be in my weight loss. HOWEVER, I think I need a good kick in the pants or someone to say YES YOU CAN DO THIS b/c right now I do not feel it!! I feel like I am loosing control of this journey and I need help! I feel like I eat too many times through out the day and I eat all the wrong foods. When I had my first fill in Feb. I think I got a little too much b/c for about 3 months I could only get down soft stuff and stuff that I thought "settled" better and didn't get stuck. Mostly ice cream, and high cal foods. My doc had a 'name' for this but I cannot think of it now. He said it is where a person consumes the high calorie foods instead of low cal or good foods. They consume sweets, carbs etc. Well now that I am doing better at getting down regular foods, more healthy foods, without them getting stuck I am so used to eating the not so good foods. Has anyone out there been through this? How did you conqeour(sp?) it? I feel so out of control. I expressed my concerned about my slow weight loss to my doc but he said I was actually doing well and that I shouldn't be concerned about it not coming off quicker b/c this journey is going to take 2-3 years to reach my weight goal which he says is 187 pounds or a BMI of 30. OK - I know I have rambled but I really needed to get this out and ask for HELP from you guys.....PLEASE can someone tell me something that will help me, boost my spirits or encourage me? Anyone been where I am now??? I want soooo bad for this to work. I worked so hard to get here did everything I was suppoosed to do preop...now why am I stuck in this rut???? Michelle in NC
  3. Hi All - May I ask a question? I am new to LB - I was banded on 12/01 and do not have my first fill until 1/16. My question is: Is it strange to not have much restriction after surgery? I know there is some but not a significant amount b/c I know there wasn't much fill in the band when it was placed. And also, is it ok not to necessarily measure my food but instead to let my body tell me when I am full? I know when I have hit my full trigger, I can fill it. Do you think I am just fooling myself? I still get hungry about 30 mins after eating or so I think I do or could it just be mental hunger? I don't know....I have so many questions about this. Any one with suggestions or anyone that could tell me their thoughts on this I would greatly appreciate it! Michelle
  4. Hi! to VAKitten - I was noticing your band date and fill date. My band date was 12/01 and my first fill is 1/16. I too have had concerns about stretching the pouch and slippage but I am feel the restriction. I am not eating nearly what I did b/4 surg but at least I am feeling the full trigger. I will be glad however when I do get my first fill b/c I have heard (a great friend of mine had the band Oct. 2007) that once you start receiving the fills the restriction is much greater and you will start dropping the pounds. I don't know if this helps but maybe we can keep in touch with one another through this journey??? And exchange tips, hints and questions? Take Care, Michelle
