  1. Well, for once I finally feel that I have a doctor that is willing to help me. My thyroid is under control FINALLY!! he also told me that lapband was a possiblillity but he wanted me to try some other things first. He wants me to go back on weight watchers and get into an exercise class. i have another appointment in july he wants to do blood work for other things and switch my birthcontrol and he wants to see from there what happens. Im excited!!!!

  3. Wow all this is encurraging! that is one of my big worries- that something will go wrong and I will be there for DAYS!!!
  4. I know it's been awhile, and I am ashamed that I haven't gotten farther than I have. I switched Doctor's to one that will be more aggressive about getting my thyroid under control, but other than that I haven't done much! I started my spring semester this week :nervous the semester is 6 weeks, and there is just so much to do, I dont think college will ever be normal, its always going to overwhelm me!!! But its no excuse I need to get going with my surgery.

  6. For me, at a size 6 or 8 I think I would be all bones... I have a big frame, In all honesty no one beleives me when I say I weigh 260 lbs. They just dont believe I weigh that much. So I think I would look best at a 10 or 12. I dont wanna be thin anyway I wanna have a little bit of fat left!! I guess Ill see when I get there though!!!:grouphug:
  7. Thanks everyone! I needed a little reasuring.
  8. I am just curious if there are any people out there that have been banded and lost the weight, but then gained it back even though they were still banded? Is it common for someones stomach to strech that much?
  9. Yea, It just upset me, Today was a better day! Im back to being overly excited!!
  10. Today when I went to work I was in a good mood. I told one of my managers about me wanting to have lap band... and she got upset and told me I was too young and I would just regret it. It really upset me because I am determined on this and she just set me back. She said that she knew people that have had it done and she said my stomach will just strech around the band and the people that have had it done that she knows just gained the weight back and more. I have to go tomorrow to get my referal to a specialist and I have to call my insurance company to see if they cover the surgery. I just havent had anyone tell me it was a bad idea yet and it really hurt! I was so excited and she just wrecked it all today:help:. Hopefully tomorrow will be better!! good night

  12. I am still under my moms insurance because I live at home. We have Blue Cross Blue Shield HMO, I havent talked to them yet, Im still trying to switch to a doctor that is going to be a little more aggressive about getting my thyroid under control, I have had an increase in my dose every 3 months for almost 3 years, and my doctor just doesnt seem to be caring as much as I'd like her to. so I am still not sure where i stand with all that
  13. Well, I usually do not go online very often, I work a 35 hour week, go to school full time and then the rest of it i enjoy being with other people doing things that are physically active. And Im still overweight!! I can honestly say that I usually dont spend more than 2 hours a week on the computer...so its not that. And being on this forum seems to help a lot of people, with out the support I know that I wouldnt be so determined to have my surgery!
  14. Linda- that website helped a lot! thanks!!
  15. ladysplenda- I am also 18, if you dont mind me asking, what insurance company did you and your daughter use and what was your daughter Amanda's BMI and weight? I am at a BMI of 41 and weigh 264. I also have ankle, knee and hip joint pains.
