  1. I was scared to death. But, the hospital staff was nice. The surgical team was excellent. After they put the oxygen mask on me...I didn't remember a thing. I briefly remember waking up in recovery, having my vitals check every so often, and sucking on ice chips. I had GI in the morning, and my blood sugar checked, as well as my potassium level. My surgery was scheduled for 9:30 am...my potassium was 2.8--it needed to be about 3.0 for the surgery to occur. So they gave me an IV drip of potassium over the course of 4 hours. My doctor was able to book another OR, and my surgery took place later in the afternoon. I have taken no pain medications since I woke up. My throat hurts (is sore) from the tube. But other than that, it really wasn't a big deal...so far. I am on clear liquids today, and tomorrow. On Thanksgiving, I can move onto a full liquid diet...welcome back slimfast. I am going to get some sleep now...so for those of you waiting for your surgery...know that I was scared to death, and I did just fine, and so will you!

  3. I am a single parent of two children, 16 and 10. So I spent most of the day doing laundry, making meals for the next few days for them, and hugging them alot. I know that I am going to be ok, but I still feel a little nervous. I asked my parents not to come....I have a feeling my father will probably show up tomorrow anyway. I am so used to doing things on my own...that I really don't want to burden or worry anyone.

  5. Thanks Band_Groupie. I will let blog on Tuesday following the surgery.
  6. My surgery is scheduled for this Monday! For the last couple of nights I have been very nervous. Suffering through a 14 day liquid diet that I have cheated on too many times. Wondering if I have tried enough before getting to this option? Two days, and now I feel better. I finally told my parents about the surgery, and they were unexpectedly supportive. They both asked, "what can I do for you?" I know this is not a magic cure all...but I know it is going to be the extra push I need to help with the weight loss. I plan to look fabulous, and feel healthy by next spring.
