  1. I gained something like 10 pounds from the surgeries IV's.........it will pass soon enough.
  2. Hello everyone: For the past few days I have been very bloated in the afternoons. I am still on liquids so nothing has changed there. It is just that I get major "gas" pain right below the band....But it is not gas per se. I have walked every afternoon for about 45 minutes and it does not go away... Pepcid and Gas-X does nothing for it either.... Any suggestions????

  4. What you are feeling is gas pains...get some Gas X strips. They help considerably. ALso, walk around a bit in the house. That will help as well. Good luck....we are in this for the long run!!!!!!!!!!
  5. I really like Braitric Advantage. They make great protien shakes. I mix mine with soy milk, as I am lactose intolerant. The soy makes the shakes extra thick wich is realy nice.
  6. I am tow days post banding. I have NO energy at all today. Yesterday was fine until I got home from the hospital. Slept from 5 PM to 7 AM. Got up and tried to take a walk but could not do it. All I wanted to do is sleep. Came home and slept another 5 hours. Now, an hour later I can barely keep my eyes open. What the heck is going one? Anyone else had this problem!!!!!!!

  9. No gas for me YET.... sure alittle but the left side aching gas......I am keeping my fingers crossed that it will not happen to me.....
  10. Well, I am home from the hospital. Not much pain, more soreness than anything else. Feels like I had a weeks worth of heavy stomache workouts. The nurse told me not to get on a scail for a few days becuase of all the fluids they give you via IV. I did anyway....14 lbs up!!!! I am not worried at all about it becuase I know pre-suregery they gave me two liters, and at least 5 liters post-op. Only 1 liter of output of urine....so the next few days I will be standing next to the toilet!!! Well, just thought I would let you know how it is going with me.....
  11. Bariatric Advatage has great ones... I mix mine with soy milk which makes them extra thick. I love the banana flavored.....

  13. It is 2 AM and I can not sleep. I will be banded in 6 hours. I am not nervous, per se. I just want to get this over to get on with the rest of my life. I have been on liquid for 2 weeks. In the last 5 days my weight has stabilized and have only lost 0.4 lbs in the last 5 days. This really drives the point that I have to exercise. Since I am taking in less than 1000 cals a day, I will have to do something to kick start the weight loss again. I will post agian when I get home from the hospital on Thursday. I am keeping my fingers crossed that all goes well.
  14. I officially started my pre-op liquid diet today. I actually started on Saturday, but had to eat a real lunch and dinner yesterday. I am meeting with the surgeon tomorrow for the last time before the surgery which is on the 18th of Feb. Not sure what lapband he will use but will find out tomorrow. I am looking forward to the new me and the energy I will have for my grandchildren..... Good luck to all those who have been and will be banded this month.
  15. You better believe I am getting nervous.... I keep on thinking I can lose weight without the surgery... Losing weight has never been a problem for me...keeping it off has.....
  16. Well, it is almost that tu=ime for me to start my pre-surgery 2 week liquid diet. I am suppose to start it on Tuesday, but wil be starting it tomorrow (Friday)....Just thought I would get an early start.....
  17. My surgery is in a little over two weeks and am a little apprehensive....I too am from FV and only my wife knows as well...... I am having my suregry at St. Joe's in Orange. My doctor's office sell the protien shakes. Since I am lactose intolerant, I am buying mine from this site: Bariatric Advantage - Nutritional supplements, Vitamins, Proteins, and Help for Gastric Bypass, Distal, Lap Band, Realize, Stomaphyx and Duodenal Switch Surgery Patients (just click on the link) This company is in Irvine. Their Protein shakes are lactose free. They also have other products to buy...... Good luck with your surgery......
  18. Relax,,,It was a joke......My wife calls me her "Grey Fox"!!!! I was just trying to bring a little humor into something that, for at least, I am a little apprehensive.......
  19. Surgeon changed my date of my lap band procedure. It is now on 18 February,,,,
  20. I find "foxes" a little sexest..LOL How about February Funsters............
  21. Hi you all: I will be banded on 23 Feb in St. Joseph's Hospital in Orange, CA. I start my liquid diet on 9 Feb. I am viewing this as a blessing but am a little frightened that I will do something to screw it up. I hate being overweight and not having the energy to play with my grandkids......
  22. I am in the process now. I have a surgery date of 11 Feb. Who is your surgeon? I am one of Dr. Johnsrud's patients. Have you gone to any of the support meetings yet? I have no complaints yet with the entire process. By the way, I was told by Taylor that they want us to lose 10% of our weight before surgery but won't deny surgery if you aren't there by the time you have surgery.....I have been told by others that during the 2 weeks of liquid diet before surgery, you are sure to lose weight....
  23. Many preop diets consist of 2 - 3 weeks of a liquid Protein diet. These powdered protiens are mixed with milk, or in my case soy milk. The powders can be purchased at Walmarts, Healthfood stores or even Costcos. Good luck with your process.
  24. Yofey..... (bad transliteration). It can be a long process. I am on the fourth month of of the process. I have a surgery fdate set for 11 Feb..... By the way, I love Israel. I conducted research in Eilat for many years....It surely has changed since I started going in the mid 80's. Toda raba.....
  25. I chose (suregry date is in Feb) becuase of the absorption problems that people can have with gb. To change your physiology that much just does not seem natural. So for me, lb seemed to be the best thing.
