  1. Hi KTK. My husband and I have had the lap band for 2 years now. We have a friend that had the Gastric Bypass a year and a half ago. She lost her first 100 lbs faster than us, however she has had many complications. We have had absolutely no complications and over time, we have lost more weight. Both surgeries are very effective however there are people that have not been successful with either one. The Lap Band and the Gastic bypass are only tools. You get out them what you put in to it. I chose the Lap band because I felt re arranging my insides was a bit much. The Lap Band is adjustable and reversable and it has worked great for both of us. Feel free to contact me if you think of any questions. I love giving the advise that helped my husband and I. We are both half the size we use to be =-). Good Luck. Once you start see the results, it become an easy life style to adapt to.
  2. Good Luck with everything. It is the best thing that I have ever done. Let me know if you have any particular questions.
  3. Hi Rita! The Lanpband is a great step in the right direction for your weight loss goals. Best of luck to you! Best advise that I can give, is try to exercise as much as possible and do not get fustrated if the scale stays the same for a week. Make sure to make this a life style change and dont expect to loss all the weight in a few months. I had the surgery a year and a half ago and I still am not at my goal weight but have lost about 120lbs. I feel like a new person though, much healthier and feel so much more comfortable with myself. GOOD LUCK!!!! Kristen in Houston, TX

  5. Hello, my name is Kristen and I wanted to start networking with poeple that have had the Lap Band and those who are thinking about it. It is the best thing that my husband and I have done. While my husband and I have been married, our highest documented weight was 313 for me and 414 for him. We tried many different weight lost diets, Weight Watchers, Nutrisystem, Adkins and much more. We would have a little success, get off the routine and the pounds came back and plus. In July of 2007 we got the Lap Band and now I am 180 and my hubby is 245. We are two new people. The Lap Band has been a tool for us. We still have to exercise and watch what we eat. A lot of people think that you get banded and the weight falls off. At first maybe, because the amount of food we ate decreased dramitically, but exercise is a necessity to make this a life style change and be successful! Please contact me if you have any questions or stories. I would love to hear them.
