  1. I went straight through with the Doctor's website (Dr. Alberto Aceves, Mexicali) He has girls in the office that could answer any question I had. Can't imagine what a coordinator might do, except be a middle man that takes a cut (IMHO).
  2. I would LOVE to take a Tai Chi class, problem is they are all so early in the morning!! LOL One, 1 am NOT a morning person to begin with but 2 I have to work anyway. I did buy a DVD and enjoyed it, but it was very difficult to do the moves fluidly while trying to look at the TV at the same time! It's great excercise for balance and stability, highly underestimated in my opinion. Good Luck! Keep it up!!
  3. Is this a random rant site to post? Ok, here's mine. The ticker things on the bottom of everybodys signature don't say whether it's lose from the surgery or added the pre-op. I'm all for being proud of ALL weight loss but it would be nice to know what the band has actually done for people. OK, I'm done. Thank you:biggrin:
  4. Try not to gauge proper restriction on getting stuck or PBing. If those things happen it's because you're TOO restricted. The fact that you're feeling full quicker and for a longer period of time means you're moving in the right direction. Good luck, don't get discouraged.
  5. :w00t:I WISH!!!! Isn't it sad that one person's heartache is another persons dream?
  6. Does anybody take fiber supplements? I used to take Trader Joe's psillium husk on occasion but figure if I try to do that now I would erupt like a volcano! Was thinking of the fiber chewables, do they not expand like traditional fiber supplements? Just curious. Thanks.
  7. I've been doing great so far. My surgery was on a Saturday and I could have gone back to work on Monday but being that it was New Year's week I just took the week off. Tomorrow will be 4 weeks post-surgery for me and I really feel good. I've been working out this week on my elliptical machine. The worst part I think is trying to keep my protein up, I'm just not hungry. The protein bullets are lifesavers, 42g of protein in 3 oz. Taste like melted jello and really sweet but it's over quick. My gas pain wasn't too bad, I would feel it rise into my chest and not have anywhere to go. The shoulder pain from the gas only hit me during the second week and tylenol helped me more with the pain the gas-x. I've been able to sleep on my side since about day 3. I guess I'm just overall truly happy with the experience so far. On Tuesday I will be able to try whole foods so I'm kind of scared about that, I've been married to my magic bullet for the past few weeks!:scared2: If I were to give advice I would have to say get moving, keep walking, even if it's sloooooow. You really will start to feel better faster. Good luck!! Keep me posted!!
  8. Here's the link if it helps anybody out: IDS Sports - New Whey Liquid Protein 42 Fruit Punch 12 Each - Save 27%
  9. I think they kind of taste like melting jello and pretty sweet but they're so small its tolerable. I bought the 42g ones in a few different flavors online from Lindberg nutrition. Free shipping too!
  10. I was wondering the same thing. I play women's tackle football (yes, it exists and no I'm not a lesbian) but think I'm going to take this season off since I'm newly banded. My Doc said there shouldn't be a problem but the port site may hurt when it gets hit, like having a rock between you and what's hitting you. I'm hoping by next season at a much lighter weight I can go for Tight End instead of the Fat lineman (offensive tackle):tt2: hehe
  11. Have you thought of trying probiotics? They have capsules that you can open up and mix with water or juice or whatever. "Culturelle" is the brand I have, found in the laxitive/imodium section at the drug store. I did that my first week after surgery and haven't had any issues. I figured they couldn't hurt. The gas-x was doing NOTHING for me. Could be coincidence but it might be worth a try.
  12. I've HEARD they may cancel due to colds because it increases your chances of getting pneumonia after the anesthesia. (I am not a doctor, nor do I play one on TV) With the weather change though, sounds like that's your culprit, I hope. I'll pray that it's allergies!!!!
  13. HAHAHA, that is sooo funny! I had a consult with him too. He was yawning and seemed disinterested, kept sweeping his comb over, LOL Even with that I made a date For December 23. It's hard to believe not even a month ago I was going to be charged $17,000!!!! Plus $300 for the pro-op tests. After reading some stories on this board I began to worry "what if something happens and it ends up more $$ because of complications?" Anyway, I ended up cancelling and went down to Dr. Aceves in Mexicali, very happy by the way. As for payment, did you try and get approved for CareCredit? It's a credit card they offer for things like this. I ended up using my 401k (figured with the economy the way it is, I'm better off paying myself interest then letting it sit there to dwindle away!) Good luck!!!
  14. Has anybody tried one of these from Starbucks? vanilla Rooibos Tea Latte Full leaf African rooibos tea(naturally caffiene free), also known as red tea, paired with Tahitian vanilla and cinnamon. Sweetened with classic syrup and topped with steamed milk and velvety foam. OHHHH so good!!!! I'm a "no sweetener" person so I got mine without the syrup but it was still really good to me!
  15. I was banded by Dr. Aceves on December 27th. I have to agree with everyone else that has already posted. I have some pictures in my album from the hospital. I live in Los Angeles and he's only 3 1/2 huors away from me so we drove. I did pre-ops on Friday, had the same great hotel experience Friday night, surgery Saturday, and because my husband and I drove down there I was able to go home on Sunday. Like the others said, they send you home with all your x-rays and tests, they also send you with a prophylactic antibiotic and some pain meds. Once I left the hospital though I never needed the pain meds, just some liquid tylenol one time. I was rather paranoid as I had never been under anesthesia before in my life! The staff made it great though, felt so at ease, even before the happy pill:tt2:. If there's anything else I can possibly help you with please let me know!
  16. Ask your surgeon what HIS statistics are regarding slippage and erosion. Some complications are due to improper placement or how they stitch to hold it in place.
  17. Brown Dad had gastric bypass in the past. As for pink daughter's "assault" I think the media is more fascinated because she was on this show and then assaulted him with a food product. It is pretty funny:lol:
  18. I originally found out about him from others on this website and then went to his website (he has an add at the right). I tried to search about him as much as I could on the internet. I was lucky enough to actually go down to Mexicali about a month before my surgery to meet with him and check out the hospital. I live in the Los Angeles area and it's about a 3 1/2 hour drive for me. I can only imagine the anxiety of people who travel down there sight unseen but seriously, I could not have been happier with my experience. The day of surgery I was the only band but he also had 2 gastric sleeves done that day. I have some pictures I'll try and post later of the hospital and my room. The hospital is literally one block from the border! To go out of the country for surgery is a huge decision but as a self-pay it was my only choice, turns out, in my opinion, it was a great decision. My husband said it was like being on a cruise that has a surgical team, haha
  19. I second the great experience with Dr. Aceves in Mexicali!
  20. Did you see this? "A contestant on NBC's "The Biggest Loser" is just that after a run-in with the law this week. Shanon Thomas, 30, was arrested on Tuesday - the day the show debuted - on charges of domestic violence after she allegedly used a bag of flour to assault a tenant who lived in her house. If convicted, she could face more than three months in jail, according to reports. According to the police complaint, the altercation unfolded on Dec. 16 in her suburban Detroit home after Thomas yelled at a man who lived in her basement to lower the TV volume. Thomas is alleged to have "kicked open the door" to his basement apartment and attacked him with the flour, damaging some of his personal property in the process. He has since moved out. Police are withholding the victim's name and would not specify why they waited nearly a month before arresting Thomas. Thomas was arraigned and released on $2,000 bond shortly after police took her into custody. On "Loser," Thomas, a massage therapist, makes up one half of the Pink Team. Her teammate, Helen Phillips, is her mother. "
  21. You forgot the blue team! They are my favorite now, especially after last night. I think the green team girl that's on the ranch is determined, it's her drama queen partner that's gonna be the next Joelle. Remember the first week?
  22. I totally agree!!! I was so mad I was yelling at the TV, LOL I think she was crying because she WANTED to go home!!
