  1. I can so relate - I always say my family put the "fun" in dysfunctional!!! Hang in there....it will work out!
  2. Hi Shassy! I have been to Bradford many, many times (on my way to Salamanca). It's about 2 hours north of where I live. Did you have to go through the 6 months of pre-op stuff? How has your experience been so far? Why did you choose band over bypass? Sorry if I'm too nosy! Good Luck to you!! Please keep me posted on your progress. I will keep you in my prayers!
  3. Hi Pat! Thank you so much for responding - I was beginning to think there wasn't anyone close to home to talk to about this! I choose to go to Geisinger Danville and I haven't been assigned a surgeon yet. I have only had 1 appointment so far. My next one is on the 18th of December. I have a support group to go to on the 17th of this month. I am hoping to get some of my questions answered there. Do you mind sharing why you choose the band over bypass?
  4. Hi all - I am a 37 year old from State College PA. This forum is the closest I could find to someone in my area. I am in the beginning stages of the journey towards lap band surgery. I am looking for some friends to help me along the way and to provide guidance and support. I have 120 lbs to lose (5'2, 248 lbs ). Every story I read is exactly the same as mine and it's good to know that I am not alone. I am having my classes through Geisinger and will have (hopefully) surgery in Danville. My insurance is Capital Blue Cross. I thankfully, do not have any other health conditions other than my weight. I am also on Chantix to quit smoking. I am proud to say that I have been smoke free for 4 days. I hope you don't mind hearing my life story, but I have so many questions about the process and I am just seeking some friends to help me out. Any advice you can pass along would be great. Thanks so much!!
  5. Hi - I was born and raised in Altoona, however I am not in the support group there. I am just beginning my journey (today was my first appointment). If you are looking for someone to talk with - I'd be glad to oblige!!
  6. Newbie here - Looking for a buddy/mentor to help guide me along this new journey. Anyone interested? Thanks !
