  1. I went through the exact same thing in the hospital. I was in alot of pain and my stomach and left side hurt so bad, I tried to urinate and my legs would start to tremble and left side would have a muscle spasm and I could barely go. I had my daughter turn the faucet on and she was not watching and trying to help me and we flooded the room. Nurse was pissed:rolleyes2: but it got better after a couple of days....
  2. Hello Everyone, I am scheduled for the lap band surgery this Monday, and up until this point I was not nervous. This morning I had to checkin with admitting and have all my pre-op tests. Now I am really starting to question my decision and getting scared about the pain, and wondering if I can stick to the new way of eating and all of that. Did anyone feel this way right before your procedure? I am sure it is just pre-surgery jitters, but all I could think about is "am I going to fail?" and then I would think to myself "if I do succeed, will losing this weight make me lose my identity? I know that sounds dumb, but hell, I have been more fat in my life then thin. Love some thoughts from anyone out there......Connie

    suicidal thoughts

I am not sure what your doctor would say or do, but I would hope that any doctor confronted with this issue with one of their patients would not put them through any surgery unless they were emotionally ready. I think it is normal from time to time to have thoughts like this in times of distress, but if you are truely feeling like you might do harm to yourself, you should be honest with your doctor so he can get you the proper care. Me, personally, could not have gone through this lap band surgery about two years ago when I was having problems with my teen daughter, who was addicted to drugs. I was so stressed out and depressed. I chose now to do this surgery because things are now better and I can concentrate on what I need to do to make this surgery work for me. I am sure that this process of losing weight and all the lifestyle changes that come with it are going to cause stress, so it is better to be mentally ready for the surgery IMO. Take Care, and I hope things look up for you....Connie

    2 Weeks Post OP

Hello, I just wanted to say hello and let you know that Dr Bhoyrul is doing my surgery on Monday! I am getting nervous and anxious at the same time. I like Dr Bhoyrul, he is kinda in and out quickly as for as appointments go, but he is the best from what I hear, so I am okay with that.I live in Temecula so exercising with you may not be an option, but I would love to chat and share thoughts...Take care, Connie p.s. how was the hospital staff and post op pain for you?
  5. Hi Everyone, Well I have been placed on this 10 day pre-op liquid diet and I am having such a hard time. Sadly, I cheated the very first day! I did well all day and then late at night I was so hungry, I had a salad with low fat dressing. My liquid diet consists of 2 protien drinks, and no more than 3 1/2 cup servings of low fat cottage cheese or Dannon low fat yogurt, and sugar free popsicles, sugar free drinks and jello in any amount I want. Oh yeah, and all the clear broth I can handle. It seems so extreme and today was better, but I wondering if this is going to get easier or what. My surgeon says I have to do this along with physical activity 3-4 times a week for him to proceed with the lap-band. Anyone out there have any words of encouragement or anything to help me with this trying time. Would love to hear from you.
  6. I hope this isn't an embarassing or dumb question, but I haven't had surgery yet and I have been reading posts regarding PB and sliming after meals. What is this????? I thought I was well informed about banding but boy, after reading posts on this site, there is alot I don't know! Thanks for any responses.
  7. Hi Everyone, I was wondering, I am a chronic pain patient and I take oral pain meds throughout the day, everyday. When I get banded, will I be able to swallow and keep down the pain meds I need to take that first few days? Anyone else out there know how this works? One of my meds I cannot crush because it is a time released drug so I have been wondering how this will work for me. Also, how much pain is there post operatively? Because I take pain meds already for my spine, I worry that I am going to be in more pain then expected because of my high tolerance to pain meds. Any other chronic pain patients out there who have been banded? Love to hear about your experiences with these issues.

    New to site

Hi Diana, I am new to the site too, and I also live in California. I am still in the pre-op stage and I am trying to get as much info as I can too. Welcome and look forward to talking with you...Connie
  9. Hello everyone, I am new to this forum and will be having the LapBand in the next month. I saw my doctor at Alvarado Hospital in San Diego yesterday, and I really like him. He is prepared to do the surgery anytime, but I need to do a few things first. My next step is the psych evaluation and also the seminar that I need to attend. I have made appointments for both already. I have alot of questions and would love to get any information from anyone who is either pre-op or post-op and their experiences with the LapBand. One question I have been thinking about is because my insurance is medicare and I I know they will cover the banding, when I lose a large amount of weight in the future, if I have a problem with loose skin, will medicare cover any type of plastic surgery for this problem? Love to hear from any other people on medicare and what they know about this. Thanks for your time and hope to meet with everyone on the site.....Connie
