Hey Candy. Fills do help I found that out too. I want down two pounds but stuck again..........I am ready for another fill. But yep I have to really chew alot and not eat bread or brocolli.........and oh year tortillas. I am ready for a fill. I don't think this is my sweet spot but better than before fill. Hang in there Heather I get the stress at work. I so feel it. Today was hard day at our office. Really hard day. Today is also my birthday and I went to 31 flavors for my free ice cream. I know, I know.............so good and it didn't make me sick!! I sorta wish it would. I am losing inches again pounds 2.5 down in a little less than three weeks. Ok I guess not great.........but the next fill is gonna get me there I hope!!

Hey Candra I did some research online and yea there is a consenses about Crystal light not being t the greatest choice. Water is preferable and the funny thing is I always go back to water and lots of it two days before an appointment cause it helps with the water weight stuff............I guess some online thing it makes you bloat a bit with the aspartime and that it makes you hold on to water weight. I will try just water the next few days and see how it goes. Ok so three people in my office were laid off today. Not good. We had 15 social workers laid off, three supervirsors demoted and three office staff laid off........so our office took a hit. We are already very short staffed so this really hurts. Now I am waiting for the bumping to begin from other departments before I am sure my job is safe!! Yep stressful times.

Candra talk to me about this crystal light thing...........girl I drive about 120+ ounces a day. Carbs!! What!! OMG are you serious. Maybe I need to try just water............feeling sad.........and see is I lose better. Maybe that is keeping me on a plateau??

Sometimes being married makes you tough too!! LOL. I was married and with my ex for almost 10 years. And that make me tough too and also very happily divorced!! He used to be so jealous I think it is a guy thing. But with me he watched my wait and gave me hell if I gained waight never mind keeping me fat. I was pretty thin when I was with him but he always was on me about being to fat............ ANyway on the other hand he was also accusing me of wanting to leave and cheat all the time. Sign of insecurity and maybe "the man doeth protest to much" since he had a weight problem and a cheating problem too!! LOL. So anyway I have been on both sides. Right now I am very happily single........... Ok what is this Beck Diet Solution I need to read it. I ordered a new Lap band book and waiting for it to arrive........... Heather you surviving? I found out CPS is laying off social workers, supervisors, office workers and upper managment today. No actual names but we got an email warning us it will happen this week or next at the lastest and to get ready.

Hey Riley my daughter just turned 14. So another 4 years. But my guess is that I will have more than that since I want to help her through college.........so in the end I won't have to support her forever!! LOL. She is going into her freshmen year in high school. She is a good kid but just as stubborn and independent as her mama!! LOL. I think they sent out warnings to everyone last friday. I think Heather said she got one. Now we wait for the actual numbers of jobs gone and than let the bumping begin...........we also don't know about upper managment so there might be bumping from peers on a horizonal level but also from upper management on a vertical level............in the end I think about 600+ jobs will be lost from various departments..............but the decision was suppose to be made two weeks ago, every one monday they put it off one more week.........but layoffs are suppose to be in effect on July 4 so they better hurry up..........June 20th is 2 weeks notice.

CAndra this whole thing with your husband is frustrating. Don't let it pull you down. Just honestly it could be a long term problem if he doesn't stop!! I would have a hard time relating to someone if I thought they say me as weak.............I hope he steps up to the plate eventually cause it is hard enough to go through all this but to live with someone noe being supportive..........that is hard!! Just check in with us :-)

I sure do think there is something to the caretaker theory! Actually Dr. BAggs and I talked about that at my first appointment how particularly social workers don't do well with self care and how he sees alot of social workers come through Bariatrics..............I agreed with him. But also being a single parent is sorta a selflish job. I also don't get child support or any help. My ex lives in Europe and went back home when he realized child support was part of the divorce and custody case. He also didn't like he only had supervised visits................so I truly am doing this on my own. Riley I so hear ya about single parents. My health insrurance for my daughter is way up there too. Huge monthly expense. I think in alot of way s being single parent has made me tough though too.........I think my stubborn independance and toughness is what got me through surgery and recovery on my own!! Everyone was like you need someone at the house after surgery........ah nope I figure out how to things on my own and it always turns out ok!! So far anyway. So anyway.............I am waiting to find out about layoffs still. Now they are saying Friday sometime!!

10 CC band- How many CCs to get restriction?
Ok I am down 3 pounds since June 1, 2009. But that restriction I had right after my first fill is fading out........I am ready for another fill. My doctor says it is 3cc's at surgery, 2ccs for the first fill, than 1 cc for the second fill, than .5 after that for each fill until you hit your sweet spot ...............he said that is what the Australians recommend and seems to work the best. He told me he tries to sneak up on the sweet spot.................. I still have some restriction if I don't chew my food well. If I do chew well my restriction is fading........ I can't eat bread or broccoli or tortillas anymore or I PB. But somethings are no problem at all...........

I used to do this hip hop dance class that was so, so fun!! Not even like exercise just 45 minutes of great music and fun...........but they don't have that anymore. Go figure the guy who taught it was a big guy but had great moves...............if I could find something like that again!! So right now I have bikes, walking around the neighborhood and treadmill..............I also have the WII active but to easy to stop with that................I do better walking up to the gym and making myself state on the bike until I hit my goal...........gotta try for 4 miles today. Happy weekend all.

Well I did find out once I refused to discuss backing out of surgery that people just started to avoid the issue and it got easier. Yea I think my family thought that once I stared to lose I would back out of surgery. But that just made me more determined to get it done!! I am glad I did it...........just wish there was a quick fix still. This is a tool like they say not a solution I think in the long run I will be a healthier person in alot of way for going through the process. Oh I ended up with 4000 steps yesterday. I walked some more at the mall last night. I am so sore from that bike ride yesterday but I need to do it again today!! Getting myself ready to go............I wish I had a treadmill or stationary bike I could hook up to my TV!!

I told Dr. Baggs about my mom thinking the band was inserted throught he mouth.........I told him I think ya better educate her when you go out after surgery!! He was laughing.........he told me when I left he explained to her and that he thought she got it!! LOL.

I hear ya Candra. My family didn't really want me to do this either. I just told them it was not open for debate I was gonna do it. After hearing over and over how I should be tough and just exercise and stop eating. My family thinks fat is the same as lazy................I only told a few people.........I do have my sister and my aunt who are totally behind me....my mom and uncle who are in the medical field told me straight out it won't work......my mom is always wanting to know if it is "working" or not...........arrghh.........I have to prove her wrong which makes my bandster hell more frustrating!! My family is all skinny it is only me ........... except for one grandmother that had huge weight issues all her life and died of heart failure young....I look like her and have the same weight struggles........and my family is on my back like they were on hers all the time...... But even driving over for surgery my family was still giving a hard time about having surgery. My mom thought you got surgery lost the weight and had it taken out. I was sorta disappontted in her that she had not even researched it and I am her daughter.......I did bring my lap band companion book and I think she read it while I was in surgery........she thought they inserted the band through the mouth......OMG.......I was telling her I am having major surgery here I thought you knew that......... Well I know it is hard when it is someone so close to you. I am so not talking about this at work for this very reason. I did tell one of my good friends and she was really negetive about me doing it. Again why can't you lose on your own...... BUT there is a difference. I am not gaining it back and I do have some restrition obvious since I can't eat bread or broccoli and I can't eat as much...........so something is different even if I don't have good restriction yet. Candra don't give up!!

I think trying to compare RNY and lap band is what makes me discouraged...........long term I don't want to deal with RNY...........but short term they are losing so much faster................ Anyone heard about the RNY smell? Someone was telling me it gives you a body oder very unique to RNY..............trying to figure out what that means?
-
Kaiser Richmond Pre-op
I think you are right on Christine. I know I didn't want the RNY just part of bandster hell........................ Candy your right at least we are not gaining!! That is a victory for me!!
-
Kaiser Richmond Pre-op
I hear ya Candy. I still have my RNY days. My debating days. I really went through surgery for results not more of the same. I still don't think at 40.5 that RNY was right for me...........but I guess I still have alot of my quick fix mentality. I just sometimes wonder what the band is doing since I am having to work my butt off and still diet!! I have some restriction but........is this it? I don't know. I guess all bandsters go through this............frustration.
-
Kaiser Richmond Pre-op
Hey Candy I know what you mean. I keep telling myself the same thing. I went through surgery and I have to get down to goal weight.............I know I have lost 40 pounds but I didn't go through all the trauma for that...........but certainly is a much slower process than I though.............I thought the weight loss would speed up after surgery not slow down....................

Ok I Know I am on a roll but here is something interesting and I hope not to technical. HEad hunger defined. Psychological dependency is a dependency of the mind, and leads to psychological withdrawal symptoms (such as cravings, irritability) Addiction can in theory be derived from any rewarding behaviour, and is believed to be strongly associated with the dopaminergic system Some claim that it is a means to avoid undesired activity, but typically it is only so to a clinical level in individuals who have emotional, social, or psychological dysfunctions , replacing normal positive stimuli not otherwise attained (A person who is physically dependent, but not psychologically dependent can have their dose slowly dropped until they are no longer dependent. However, if that person is psychologically dependent, they are still at serious risk for relapse into abuse and subsequent physical dependence.[citation needed] Psychological dependence does not have to be limited only to substances; even activities and behavioural patterns can be considered addictions, if they become uncontrollable, e.g. [/url]", sexual addiction / pornography addiction, eating, self-injury, compulsive buying, or work addiction. This pertains alot to substance abuse and drug addict/my career but I do think that at the core alot of this psychological addiction stuff relates to food/head hunger and emotional eating as well.

Caucasions and carbs? Where did Dr. Fisher get this theory?? Interesting but is it scientific or observation? In his line of work I am guessing he know exactly what he is talking about but I have never heard this before. I know it to be true for me.................now I am gonna have to do some research!! Ok I went to the library today and got some books on weight loss and head hunger/psychological addiction as it is call in the field......also a couple of biographies but someone who lose 100 pounds and one who had gastric bypass..........some casual reading..........NOT!!

Ok well 2000 steps so far today .........but I rode my bike three miles in 27 minutes. I don't know if that is a world record or not!! LOL. But I forgot about the pedometer and was so disappointed when I got off the bike and realized that I didn't get any steps added for all that work...........should have chosen the treadmill instead. On the other hand I was sorta wondering how many miles I could ride in a week, 2 weeks...........well before the 25th anyway. I wonder if I could hit 50? I don't think Robin should be talking crap where other patients can hear. That is totally unprofessional. I would so get fired for that were I work and with HIPPA laws........not liking that attitude. If she would do it once.............well you know!! She is very young though and still learning the ropes.........I sometimes wish they had someone doing the nutrition stuff that has a bit more time under her belt..........learning to work well with people and motivate them is skill that takes time to develop................a team approach and encouragement works better than the domineering approach.............but ya know she is learning some of it from Liz...........I guess maybe some patients do need that............when someone gets in my face I tend to match them with my attitude...............but Liz was coole with me...........Robin has been ok in person.........I just sorta made it clear inthe beginning that I don't like to be talked to like that..............in a nice way!! LOL. I think more as an equal and don't want to be talked down to....................boundaries and rules .............yep that I can deal with.........I like that clear cut but for goodness sake treat me like an adult............... Ok ladies I am going to see a movie with my daughter.........nonfat hot chocolate here I come!!

I know about the band saying stop and RIGHT NOW!! I totally know that feeling..........and I like you want to eat the rest. And I have to admit that sometimes after I get too full I just wait about 10 minutes and than suddenly it will go down..........still not eating bad things or too much. But really I think I need to stop when it is time and not feel bad about the 3/4's left on my plate!! Waiting to find out about my job too?? I should hear something this week. Forlough? Lose health benefits? Layoff? Paycut? I just don't know yet..................I am a single parent so everything is on my back financially!! But what can you do..........when I get this stressed I lose my apetite so all is good in that regard.

My teen is going through this diet stuff with me. As independant as she is she is copying everything I do. Makes me realize she has been following my eating habit for quite awhile..............she is eating up all this nutrition, vitamins, protiens, fiber, water and low carb stuff. She is thrilled that I am into all this now with her...........she also pushes me to exercise but is a bit of a nag too.........you only did 20 minutes not 30 mom........sorta annoying. She is also coming to Pinole with me on the 25th. She wants to be part of the nutrition class!! Never mind I keep telling her that it is for WLS............I only worry what she will blurt out to Dr. Baggs..........cause she did that at the last support meeting........."mom you have not been exercising enough" in front of everyone!! LOL..........I told her not to disclose my business this time but with her who knows!! Funny kid!! anyway she is off school for the summer and probably coming for the next few appointments...........than out to the Jelly Belly Factory and outlets..........maybe Marine World.

Heather 30 pounds really is alot!! I am impressed. Oh Candra Dr. Schurr told me I was borning, normal but boring!! I also didn't know how to take that but she passed me...........she asked me who the president was and I laughed and asked why she didn't know that!! She told me she was the asking the questions not me!! I do those psych evals at the time at work so I gave her a hard time. But in the end she made me cooperate to pass. I liked her. We talked about about raising teenager and eating issues with teens..........very smart woman!!

Hey Candra wow your doing great!! I also have the 1/2 cup bowls. Love them. I make lentils at the beginning of the week and and than fill them up to 1/3 cup and they are just easy to grab out of the fridge at night when I get home. Makes it easier not to snack that way........... I am reading some books today and than headed out to the gym later.........might go see a movie tonight.
