  1. Sunday is getting closer and I cannot wait for orientation. I have to see if my husband will be able to go the orientation with me or not. We have a daughter that is almost 3 and are having a hard time trying to find someone to care for her. Oh well, he supports me in this either way.
  2. I didn't think that Kaiser did the sleeve. Only bypass and lap band. Which Kaiser does the sleeve?
  3. Hi C- That is correct; there is still a committee that has to review your package. This includes all the labs, dietician, psyc eval and any other tests your PCP feels you need. You also have to lose about 10% of your weight before you are scheduled for surgery. Are you going to the 12/14 orientation?
  4. Yes, on sunday. I will be there. I am so excited!!
  5. I just checked my Kaiser Appointment page and they have scheduled me for the orientation on 12/14. My PCP put the request in on Monday, I did not think it would be that fast!! Hooray!! I am so excited!!
  6. Kaiser Fremont bariatric Dr has a great web page that explains all of the process. You have to be a kaiser patent and have an on-line account. Here is the link. http://www.permanente.net/homepage/kaiser/pdf/43870.pdf It has great information on the time line and what to expect.
  7. I was told I would be referred to Kaiser Fremont. I know you usually have to see dietician and have psyc eval as a next step. Have you done this yet?
  8. Hi there! I am so excited my PCP just emailed me that he sent forward a referral to the Kaiser Bariatric group. Now I have to wait to see if they approve me for the program. One hoop down a few more to go unfortunately with Kaiser. Wish me luck!
  9. I received a message from my doctor that I have to do my PAP before he can make any referrals. I found a web page on one of the bariatric surgeon’s page. I gives you the process, it looks very long. My overview went well. Just waiting now.
  10. Hi sadtobefat-How did your orientation go? I have an overview in Pleasanton next week. Not too sure of the process at Kaiser. When do they schedule the other appointments--like psych, dietitian and so on??? My primary doctor is in Pleasanton, but I live in Fremont.
  11. How did you like Mexico? I have a surgeon I will use if not approved by Kaiser. I am not waiting 2 years!
  12. Momof3 thanks. I have appointment on the 13th for the overview. I am eager to get this started.
  13. thank you both! My brochure says BMI of 55 or more. However, if there are other things like diabetes they will look at it on a case by case basis. I will keep my fingers crossed. I have been fighting the battle of the bulge for 20 years ever since I graduated from high school! I now have a 2 1/2 year old and want to be around for her later on. I do not want to go on insulin, currently on pills for my diabetes, but sugars are on the high side now!
  14. I have an appointment for my first of I am sure many appointments for WLS. I have Kaiser and was wondering if any of you have dealt with Kaiser? I have heard they do not like to approve the surgery unless you have a BMI of at least 55. My doctor is sending me to the WLS oveview class so this sounds promising. I am considering Mexico if not approved by Kaiser.
