  1. I have a question... how long did everyone wait before they had their first alcoholic drink after the band and what do you ya'll prefer to drink? I think more than food I am missing a nice ice cold beer... ahh I know I won't be having that again, so I am wondering what everyone else now drinks.
  2. I wasn't on a morphine pump but they were giving me shots of morphine via IV when I was in recovery. Then, because I was feeling okay in my tummy (not nauseated or anything) they said they were going to try and give me whole pills and see if they stayed down... they gave me vicadin and it didn't work too well so they gave me perkaset (oxycodone)... that really helped for the pain... but after 2 days I didn't need any pain meds at all. The oxycodone just made me sleepy... good luck
  3. You only had surgery 2 days ago... give yourself time. Today is my 6th day since surgery and I am good but still weak. I get very tired easily. I can be up moving for an hour or so but then I need chill out for awhile. Let your body heal, it will get better in time. Good luck!
  4. I was just banded last week so I have not had this issue but I wanted to share with you... Papaya Enzymes supposibly work wonders if something gets stuck.. and it makes sense cause they are a "vitamin" that breaks down food... so maybe try that next time u get stuck... I already bought a bottle so I have them with me if ever it happens.
  5. WOW! 7 days for clear liquids? Mine was 1 day then 10 days of full liquids... my oh my I can't even imagine!
  6. I also have no restriction, my doctor doesn't do a fill for 4-6 weeks post op, this is the worst part. I truly am starving but got to keep up with it. I too also had the most trouble with my throat, it's from the breathing tube they put down there, it took about 2 days for that to get better. How are you doing so far? I hope all is well....
  7. What guidelines did your docs give you for the full liquid stage? Some say 7 and some say 10... mine said 10 but wondering what everyone else has done.. I wish I was closer to the mushie stage, I AM STARVING! This site is the only thing that keeps me from straying away. I haven't had any stomach issues or nausuea so I am like common soft foods haha
  8. I was also banded on Aug. 7 and it hasn't been easy with the hunger. I am starving! This liquid diet is no fun at all, BUT we need to stick with it so we can properly heal. Everytime I feel like I am going to cave in I come on this site and it inspires me again. Just remember, NOTHING tastes as good as being skinny feels! Good luck and hang in there, it will get easier... it can't get any worse lol. I was someone who would eat out 3 times a day, so this is a major change for me, however we all were ready for that change when we made the choice to get banded. Keep up the good work!!!
  9. I feel your pain, this just recently happened to me on vacation... I was totally horrified. I actually started to cry because I was so embarrassed, and of course my friends didn't understand why I was so upset, they don't know what it's like. Just think, next year we both will be riding EVERY SINGLE COASTER!!! Good luck!
  10. Thanks, it's so nice to have people who support you. My family and friends don't understand, they are like well it's not that hard to not eat.... WELL YES IT IS! I am dying lol, you get sick of Jello and juice and soup. Thanks for everyone's support.
  11. ah mashed potatoes sounds so good right now haha! I can have juices, water, broth, Jello, pudding, yogurt, soup (like bleneded) but it's just not keeping me full! I would give anything for some real food! This really is the hardest part!!!
  12. Thank you for the support. I am trying to remain positive, even though it's hell lol. This is the hardest thing I have ever done but no one said it would be easy. I can't wait to get to the mushie stage, never have I been so glad to think of eating mashed potatoes haha!
  13. Hi everyone... well I was banded on Friday and I am totally starving today! It's getting so bad... all I can think about is food. I am trying to keep my mind busy and not think about it but I am so hungry and liquoids just are not cutting it:frown: PLease help me stay focused!!!!
  14. Today is my 3rd day after surgery and I was having "poop pains"... I knew I had to go but I couldn't. As part of my clear liquoid diet I am allowed 100% apple juice, so I drank about 8 oz of it and a little while later I was having a bowel movement. I felt so much better after they have moved!
  15. This is my 3rd day after surgery and I am having the same problem. It hurts! I just can't pass any type of gas... I hope we both feel better soon!
  16. I don't have much gas pain thankfully... but It's been 3 days now without a bowel movement. Did anyone take a laxative after surgery or anything to help with constipation?
  17. There is actually a group on this site with clothing exchanges. I will look and see where it is. I went on vacation last week and was going through all my clothes... I have so many nice things that I don't just want to give to someone who will not appreciate them. I would rather donate or exchange to someone that is on this journey with me. I will see if I can find that group:redface:
  18. Ahh that is an inspiration to me! I am a size 24 as well and even though 18 is still big it's a hell of a lot better then an 18. Right now I am starving but I know it will be worth it in the end. Just got to keep my head strong and where it needs to be.
  19. Well, I just got home from the hospital. My surgery was yesterday and I must admitt it wasn't as bad as I had expected! I was very sore yesterday and last night but today it's a lot better, granted I am still sore but nothing like yesterday. The pain wasn't anything like I had imagined it to be, I thought I was going to be in so much pain I'd be crying or something lol. Good luck to everyone and I hope you have as good as an experience as I do. Now comes the hard part for me, NOT EATING regular food. Man, I am so hungry, it's been about 48 hours since I have ate. I just ate some jello but that didn't do anything lol. I just have to keep thinking, NEVER AGAIN... I can do this, we all can do this!! Good luck everyone.. XOXO
  20. Good morning all! In a few hours I will officially be banded. I am starting to get a little nervous now. Not because of the surgery but because of how life is going to to be afterwards. I am ready for the change and know I can do this, just need to keep my spirits up. I am not looking forward to what most of you call "Bandster Hell" but I know if I can get pass that point the ride will be a lot smoother. My surgery is in a few hours, I have only slept about an hour... I am more anxious than anything. I have waited for this for almost a year now, and I can't beleive it's finally time! 08/07/09 is the day that will change my life as I know it, and I am ready for that change! Good luck to all you others out there!!!
  21. Never again.... ....will I be the "fat chick" ....will I be embarrassed because I can't fit on an amusement park ride ....will I be the fattest of all my friends ....will I not be able to shop at the GAP, AE, Holister, ec ....will I constantly be looking around when I enter a room to see who is making comments about my weight ....will I feel not good enough for a man because of my weight ....will I brake a chair because I am too fat ....will I wear big baggy clothes to cover up myself ....will I be ashamed to wear a bathing suit in public ....will I let my weight hold me back from doing the things I want to do ....will I get too tired chasing my little cousins around ....will I cry myself to sleep because I feel unworthy ....will I be a fat unhealthy person! My surgery is this Friday, Aug. 7... I am starting to get nervous but wanted to write out what I WILL NEVER AGAIN be! This is my motivation to make this change in my life! I challenge you to write down what you never again will do/think... or what you have already excluded because of your weight loss!! Good luck to all!!!!!
  22. Yeah I agree about the questions... the doctors are so busy that they are very short BUT if you have questions don't be afraid to ask and their office staff is wonderful and very knowledgable!
  23. I am very nervous! Excited, but very nervous. I am hoping that this is what I need to help me get the weight off, but I too have been wondering if this is going to help me the way I need it. I have been thinking to myself that I should get gastric instead.... but I know I don't want that. I am sure the lap band will work for both of us as long as we use it as a tool, like it's intended to. We both need to excersise and eat the proper things after surgery. Good luck!!!
  24. Dr. Prashar is my surgeon... who is urs?
  25. Hi... I am in Carlisle, near Harrisburg. My surgery is on Aug. 7th and I go to the Weight Loss Center in Harrisburg. All the doctors there are very good and come highly rated! I would go there if I were you... Good luck!
