port incision question
Thanks for the update. Never heard of that, but glad not infection. I went to the surgeon yesterday and my port incision is infected. BooHoo It popped open and started draining yellow drainage. I am on antibiotics. He said if it is a superficial infection it will heal but if not the port will have to be moved. So I am keeping my fingers crossed. Good luck to you.

Lapband's dirty little secret
I am beginning to see what you mean. I waited and went through alot of crazy stuff with my surgeons staff and my insurance because I wanted this one. He has a great reputation and low complication rate. He is very skillful and careful, taking alot of tests to make sure things are right. Long story short, he is leaving for a much better position at a large medical center. Thank God the surgeon who assisted him has agreed to take his patients. This new surgeon is in my hometown and he is great. I did not know that he did lapbands. I may have considered him and he definitely would have been my 2nd choice. I know how frustrating it is dealing with lapband issues. I wonder is all WLS are so complicated. I guess there are so many diffrent ways of doing things and rules that surgeons don't want to deal with another surgeons way of doing thing. That and aftercare is not where the money is, but it seems that is where the time and effort come in.Good luck hope you can get to the bottom of your problems soon. Keep us updated.

Yummy Recipes!
SpideyMom, No one has anything yummy at this point. It is hard to get excited about cream soup ,yogurt and protein shakes. LOL, but it is not funny. Maybe in a few days some people will be back on regular food and have some good recipes for us. The chicken sounds delc. and I am going to try it as soon as I am on regular food. I will have to go get a sf Dr. Pepper as I drank all of them before surgery. My how I miss my diet drinks.

port incision question
less-of-me. What did you find out about your port? Did you go to the doc? Let us know.

Port infection?
sarahbellzz14-4,signs of infection are redness, drainage, pain, swelling. My incision popped open and is draining yellowish drainage. It is also red and slightly painful. I would'nt think that the incision being lumpy would mean anything. Maybe just watch it. I hope it is nothing. Mine still looks uck this morning. I can only keep it clean , take the antibiotic and hope for the best. Good luck.

Tired of it!!
I know, I know. It is maddening ,but what can you do. My mother and mother-in-law are the worst. They do really love and care about me, but they are hawks. My mother is the worlds worse ,with "I hope you just don't stretch the thing out like so many people do and gain all that weight back". Elcee I think that you had a great idea to not tell..

Port infection?
I went to the surgeon this morning and my port incision is infected. He said it could be superficial and will heal with antibiotics in about 2 wks. Or the port is infected in which case it will have to be removed and replaced in another area. Oh no. I have to go back every week until it heals or whatever it is going to do. No fills for sure. Wish me luck.

Mine is perfectly located (so far) between bra line and the navel slightly to the right. Not in the way or under belt or bra line.

Need Suggestions/Advice
I got my lapband on May 15th and have the same problem that you have. Uck. I had read some other posts that said to just take the pills, if they are not hugh. My surgeon's nurse said to crush everything. I am taking most of mine whole and splitting the really big ones. So far no problem. They go down with a drink of water for each pill. Hopefully I will be off some of them by the time I get a fill. My pcp was not much help. He went down the list and said yeah try crushing them and advised me to check with the pharmacist. I know extended and long release should not be crushed. I am on a ton of pills and will be so glad to get rid of most of them. Good luck to you.

What about Caffine?

Anyone hungry?
Is it just me or does all food smell absolutely wonderful . My husband heated up a can of chicken noodle soup for himself and it smelled so good. He cooked a bacon and egg breakfast for himself and I thoght I would pass out. I haven't wanted to really eat any of it, so far, I am satisfied to just smell it. I eat a few sf pops jello, decaf coffee with sf creamer, if I want something. This really seems to help me I have three small ,1/4-1/2 cup meals and up to 3 snacks daily and so far( thank you Jesus) I have been satisfied. I have lost about 10lbs since surgery and it is so nice to see the scales move in the right direction for a change.I just hope the magic lasts. Good luck to you.

When will I feel normal again??????
I feel for you. I felt like I was trying to sit up or lay down with a large filled balloon for a upper belly. I had my band on May 15 and started feeling fairly normal about 10 days later. I was really sick with diarrhea this past Sat. I think I was still having problems with the protein shake. What helped me more than anything was the gasX strips. I am off of the pain meds for several days now. Good luck to you and you may want to try the gasX if you have not already.:bored:I got to start mushies officially Monday Ya hoo.

Not for the squeamish or shy...
I had a lot of diarrhea and called the nutritiionist because I think that it is the protein shakes. I am diabetic and use the low sugar. He told me to change to the regular, not low sugar ,because the sugar alcohol causes some people to have diarrhea. I did this and no more problem. Thank god. The sugar content is not that much greater and my blood sugars, so far are stable.

First taste of "real" food!

1 week post op follow up visit-SO HAPPY!
My post op appt was Thursday. I saw the surgeon for maybe a minute. All was well and yeah ,I get to start mushies next week. Only downer we are vacationing in beautiful ,sunny ,Galveston Tx. next week, and I am not allowed to get in the water. I was so looking forward to the heated swimming pool, hot tub and Schliterbaum, but the surgeon said no because risk of infection. I will make up for it next year.I go back for f/u visit in 2 wks. good luck to all.

Ok so, sleeping....
Still sleeping off and on in the recliner. I went through one day, about day 4, that I was so uncomfortable. Seems like my abdomen was just a big hugh hard ballon that I could not sit or lay comfortably with. I took gas x strips and pain med but took a long time to be comfortable enough to sleep. Standing up sleepimg was not an option. Seems like a long time ago, now that I am on day 8 and having much less pain. Good luck.

It took a year but I'm a onester
