  1. You're a dork. PS. I'm her best friend so I can say that. (I'm also banded.... 11/25/08)
  2. I'm one day out, and glad to hear someone else is uncomfortable, also. I feel like I can't even swallow my liquid meds. My stomach is sooooooooo bloated. And yeah, it hurts to move. I'm glad I found this post! Thanks guys!
  3. Just got banded yesterday! I can't wait to see how fast this weight falls off!!
  4. Wow! I am so glad I found this thread on here. Long story short, I have my consult coming up (already done the seminar and already have ins. approval). When I called today the woman in the office really made me think.... I am seriously considering RNY instead of LB. I have (at least) 125 lbs to lose, and considering the statistics of the LB, I think the RNY might be the way to go. I worry about the 'dumping' and other complications the most. But, in the end, I just want to be healthy for my daughter so that I can live to see her grow up. Thanks so much for all this info on here. I will be checking back all the time to see how you are all doing and get any advice you are willing to give!
  5. I just got the approval from my insurance to do WLS, and already have started all of the paperwork for the clinic I will be going to. I just have so many questions! It seems like the lady that I talked to on the phone today really was pushing for the RNY instead of the band. It made me question things, which kind of upset me. I really just want to know, how did you decide to go with the band? Can I really expect to have the same amount of weight loss with the band(vs Gastric Bypass)? How fast did the weight start to come off after your surgery? Is there an 'average' amount of weight lost over the first year or so? To me, the band seems like a much easier thing to live with. I just want to make sure that I am making the right decision. Thanks for any advice you have!

Hi! I am not in GA but in TX. I am TriSouth. I just went in last week to talk to the doctor about something completely different and ended up getting my referral to the gastro surgeon. I got the phone call today from the nutritionist on post and go in next Friday for that. I haven't heard back from Tricare yet, but should by tomorrow. I will let you know what they say. I am also attending the seminar here on my own, because I have read/been told that it will either be required or just speed up the process. You may want to look into that also. Feel free to message me anytime! We can be militsry wife/Lap Band buddies.
  7. Thanks! There is actually one this Thursday only a few miles from my house, so I think I might go anyways. (There aren't anymore until November, and anything that will speed the process along is good with me!) I can't wait. I hope it doesn't take forever to get this done!
  8. I have Tricare also. Right now I am waiting on my reply from them. I got the phone call this afternoon from the Nutritionist and am going in next week for that. If I go ahead and attend a seminar now do you think that would speed the process along? I am hoping so. My BMI is 47.1, and my doctor said that I was a candidate for the LapBand. My fingers are crossed!
  9. Well, I'm new here. Obviously. I am going through the process of getting ready to get banded, and am completely nervous! The only thing that scares me is the actual surgery, not the change of lifestyle. I am a 26 y/o mother of one, married to a soldier in the Army. Thank God that Tricare covers the LapBand now! I have been waiting for them to cover it, and am so ready to take this first step to the 'new/old' me! :crying:
