Lapbandtalk Cruise 2007!!! Official Sign Up And News
Once the first deadline for bookings has passed, is it possible to have a list of names of who is going (names used here I mean), so we can see who we are going to have the pleasure of travelling with?

6mths already!?!?!
I have had my lapband 6mths this week and I'm down 92lbs. So, what have I done/learned in 6mths with Elpeatha (that's my lapband's' name and it means 'hope')? I generally eat better. I take my time with my food. Partly because it's good for me and partly because Elpeatha won't let me do it any other way. I make better food choices and always think protein before I plan what I'm going to eat. Don't get me wrong, I screw up too - exhibit a) one extremely calorific (but utterly scrummy) banana milkshake last weekend. This trip is harder than I thought it would be. There is no (for me anyway) eating what I like but smaller amounts that I thought there would be. If I want this weight to come off then I have to give up many of the things I love and work hard. Leads me to exercise. I'm so much better than I was 6mths ago. I can walk around and go places without having knots in my stomach that I can't cope. I still have a long way to go before I will consider myself anywhere near fit but seeing the results is a great motivator to doing more. Buying a treadmill was the best thing I have ever done for myself . Now what I need is to push myself more. This is something I have never done before in my life (easy option girl, that's me). The weight was falling off but now it's stalled somewhat and I need to up the exercise . Not an easy one but I'll try. I've had loads of NSV's (posted elsewhere) and love them more than the scale. My only disappointment in this respect is lack of clothes falling off- I'm still wearing all my original clothes????????? But that will come too- eventually. I have loved and needed the support I have found online and the friends I have made who's love and concern for my well being is something I now treasure. And that's about it. The next 6mths beckons. I have to work even harder now to get to where I want to be but with all of you giving your support and encouragement I know I'll keep on trying. In 6mths I will have had my lapband a year and I'll be celebrating my 40th birthday . Maybe the old addage 'Life begins at 40' is true afterall? <!-- / message --><!-- sig -->

Diagnosed as diabetic---NOW WHAT?
Doctors are used to operating on diabetics all the time. Some have it under control and others don't. The band should halp get things under great control from the word go and so I shouldn't worry too much. As for having diabetes...it can feel scary at first but just take it one day at a time. Check your levels, eat as well as you can and keep your health checks-eyes etc up to date and you'll do fine. Best wishes.

Members Being Banded In March 06
Hi everyone, I'm down 81lbs since March 20th, so 6mths creeping up fast. I've had 2 fills, a few pb's and get that stuck feeling when I take too big a bite or don't chew enough. I can still eat pretty much what I choose to but tend to make pretty good choices most of the time! I walk on my treadmill and swim when I can and that's about it. So far, so good and I'm happy with my band :biggrin1:

It's meeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee.
Hey, I'm back! I have been lurking here and there for a while and thought I'd write in my journal and give an update. I'm still hanging around 294...I gain and lose 2lbs in the last few days. Still the same old pattern, I lose huge (usually between 7-11lbs) seemingly overnight and then no matter what I do I can't lose another thing for two to three weeks. We all do our own things and this is the way its going for me. 11 days left to me 6mth anniversary. If I am lucky I can be down 90lbs(ish) by then and so I'm trying really hard to be the best I can be for the next 10 days or so. If I make 90lbs down then I have promised myself hubby will take me out to eat prawns (he doesnt know yet:kiss ). There is a place near the port that makes the most amazing shellfish dishes... After the 6mth thing, it's a couple of weeks until the 2 weddings we have to go to. The dress I want to wear fits now (even round the hips) and I am so looking forward to dressing up in something I have never been able to wear before. I will take pictures and post them when the time comes. That's all..I'll be back when I'm back.

I Don't Understand!
Hi there, Try not to worry too much I remember thinking the same thing "I've done every diet in the world and even tried starving and nothing...so why will the band be different?" It just is. Add to this that despite what logic, professionals and everyone else might say, our bodies are amazing things and can do some amazing and mind boggling things. Everything tells you that you should be losing and so you should and yet the body clings on. I'm no expert but I think part of the band difference for me at least is that I don't feel hungry, don't feel I'm battling something and believe for the first time my brain and my body might be working together. Don't get me wrong, it still annoys the hell out of me the way it clings on sometimes but now I've learned to just keep on going and eventually the body gives in and then my weight drops down. Keep going, you've come this far and more than this, believe the band will help you do this and it will:)

Road to "TWOterville"
Thanks for your wishes A stone is an English unit of weight measurement. It is 14lbs for each stone and even though I talk pounds with most of you and kilos with others, I still think and relate to stones LOL. Can I be added to the Christmas goal list please? I'm 294lbs right now and by Christmas morning I would love to be...160...no!?!?!?lol Oh OK My Christmas wish is to be 240lbs and I'm gonna work damned hard to get there (however I have no idea what my body or my band have to say about that :phanvan ).

Road to "TWOterville"
Hi all, Took a while of stopping and starting and so I was really strong and stayed off the scales for a while...paid off! I am now a resident of twoterville and as of last week was 294lbs. Now I'm here I am determined to have a good visit and look around but ya know at somepoint I will just have to creep out and see what other places are out there. Not yet though, for now it's just nice to be here

Gone For Good Club - September 2006
Hey all, I too am staying away quite a bit but will post on here from time to time... It's nice to finally read that '2' at the beginning of my weight. I now just need other numbers to go down, down, down. Well done for keeping this club going. Things are changing round here <sigh>. Still, we have our roads to travel and lbt has helped me more than not to keep going and so I'll be here looking in!

parting news...
Hey, I'm out of here for a while...When I come back and catch up my journal I'll hopefully be pounds down. My main parting news is I finally got out of those 300's :clap2: :clap2: :clap2: I am of this evening (stuff September lol) 294lbs. Loads dropped off in last 10 days so it will probably stick for a while now. I will be back- just don't know when. Thanks for reading  And goodnight :notagree

Air-cons and stuff
Oh the font thingy is working again :clap2: I am suffering a little from being in the air-conditioning so long. I am usually fine during the day but sometimes on an evening I get a headache and my temp goes up to 37.3ish. My BP is also playing up because of TOM...all the month it reads 110/70ish and and then TOM it's up each evening to 136/80...oh well c'est la vie. Still doing well with food and water and walked 2x today too. I am gonna try and get through the day without air-con and just have it a few hours when Jordan gets home... Apart from that-life is good

Drinking while eating poll
I'm with the majority...don't drink with my meals but I do drink right up until eating time because I've found this has no effect whatsoever on my hunger levels later on. Took a while but like the chewing thing, I just trained myself to do it and now it's easy.

not much going on today....
I can't get the font thingy to work today and so it's simple black and white for me. I had a pretty lazy day today and by choice I didn't walk. I made a lovely roast beef dinner for hubby and number one step son...I ate a couple of pieces of meat and some brussel sprouts. They got roast potatoes and Yorkshire puddings. I slept 3hrs this afternoon which was nice but probably wont sleep well tonight now. Am now watching Oceans 11 on tv cos haven't seen it before. And that's it.
