  1.    Renee5612 reacted to a post in a topic: New here. Looking to start a new journey.
  2. I have heard that this is very common, although I haven't experienced it myself. It must be very challenging as alcohol and other addictive behaviors are both very difficult to manage. I'm glad you're in recovery! How have you been managing your recovery, and have you found any helpful resources or strategies that work for you?
  3. I was a heavy drinker before the surgery and still struggle with alcohol today. I do not drink every day, but when I do drink, it's often more than I'd like. I'm currently working on trying to limit my intake and find healthier non-alcoholic alternatives. I don't eat well after the surgery, which makes it easy for me to go into an eating binge after drinking as well. I know what you mean by transfer addiction though. Finding other fulfilling activities might help me reduce or stop drinking altogether, rather than just limiting my intake. Best of luck on your journey! I admire your commitment to counseling and managing your health - you've got this! -Mari
  4. In just 5 months, I was no longer obese. Still overweight, yes but my relationship with food is now more balanced. My fasting bg was usually between 160-180 but now Iโ€™m within the ideal range most of the time. The side effects are all true and I was worried they were gonna get worse but after a month, my experience got milder. I sometimes still get diarrhea after 3-5 days of injecting but itโ€™s so tame compared to the horror stories I read from people online.
  5. I felt that too, trying on smaller clothes was exciting, but also kind of surreal. Itโ€™s like, โ€œWait, is this actually my size now?โ€ Definitely took some getting used to.
  6. Hey, @SammyGold,welcome! Iโ€™m new here too and really glad I found this space. I have been managing type 2 for a few years and just recently, I started on a GLP-1 after metformin alone wasnโ€™t cutting it. Itโ€™s helped curb my appetite, which made it a bit easier to shift away from junk food (though that wasnโ€™t overnight). Iโ€™m still figuring things out, but happy to swap notes anytime.
  7. Did you and your wife take GLP-1 therapy or something? Let us know how you guys did it. thanks!
