3:30....still awake. UGH..seriously annoying.

Was there someone else in here having problems sleeping? This is the 2nd night now. Thought it was just a fluke last night. I went to bed at 10pm tonight cuz I was exhausted. actually fell asleep fairly quickly. Woke up, felt like I'd slept a really long time. It had been 10 mins. And I've been awake ever since reading. I finally just gave up and resorted to the living room recliner. Shockingly I nestled right into it. Usually it's uncomfortable for me. It's my honeys chair, lol. But goodness, I couldn't find a position that wasn't hurting me in bed. Ughh. Looks like I'll start taking my melatonin again I guess. But for tonight its a good book and HGTV!

That part was really hard for me too! But each day, each meal you get through is only going to give you strength! I'm 6 days post op today and this was the first time other forod bothered me since surgery. My family ordered Chinese. For a brief second I took it as a slap in the face...and then I shook it off. It's not their fault I chose to do this. They shouldn't change the way eat or not eat certain things just because I can't right now. So I took the time while they were eating and went to my bedroom and called a good friend and had a great chat!!

I tried to think of situations like that as a challenge and I was determined to not cheat once (I didn't). Once I'd accomplish that challenge it felt great and made me feel all the stronger for this new phase in my life. You've got this!!

Layknee--but what if something is actually wrong inside there? :-( You poor thing!

Whew! I'm like a new person today. ( mostly) :-) In fact, I am HUNGRY! Like, the kid's lunch was killing me. I didn't quite expect that. And then my dad texted me and said he was slaving over the hot stove making scalloped potatoes and corn pudding for dinner. Oh my land. I want some chewable food so bad! I went right out to the kitchen and make some de-caf coffee and put my unjur.y vanilla Protein mix in it, hoping the protein (which I haven't been getting any of) would help fill me up. It didn't taste that great unfortunately, but my belly is full after a few sips. But dang, scalloped potatoes?! *sigh* speaking of my dad...remember I only told him about the surgery 3 days before and told him I didn't want one word of judgement from him, expecting no communication from him for quite a while. Well, he texted me the day before, and even came to see me in the hospital! I was shocked!! And he's checked on me each day too. My mom said all he said was, "It was her decision, I don't have to like it." Alright then! That works. :-) My lovely 21yr old daughter knows how crazy insane I go when the house is a mess. And by a mess, I mean cluttered, because during my nesting time last week, I got it nice and clean! But as we all know....that doesn't last long, especially with 5 kids around! So anyway, she took it upon herself to clean the house for me today! Oh my goodness, what a blessing. I even piddled around and picked stuff up and folded some laundry. Then I decided to get adventurous and my 8yr old and I did a walk around the block. Whew, pooped me out good! What beautiful, un-commonly warm weather we're having here in iowa. Love it!!

Awww, don't be shy. :-) Nah, it's ok if you are. It's just nice to put a face to a name. But whenever you're comfortable doing so is good. :-)

Whoohooo!!! Love your pic Beni! You look like I pictured you, LOL!! I love your haircut too. :-) I usually have mine short like that, but have just kind of let it grow the last several months. I'm afraid I'll lose some, but once I know I'm good, I'll probably cut it shorter again. I can't do anything to it right now so it's just shoved back with a headband. Very attractive!! I'd take a picture, but....yeah--pretty nasty! :-)

I hate it so bad!! And the stuff that comes out?? Seriously, it's TISSUE!? Ugh, so freaking nasty. I just want it out I was up and about more today and we've had to change the bandages 3 times. That suture wrapped around the tube...yeah, just hanging there by a thread. I can't wait until Monday!!

I had a patch behind my ear that helped a lot in the hospital. But when I got home Thursday it was HORRID. I bawled and bawled and had more moments of remorse than anything! I called the hospital Thursday evening, they said just sip 30 mils of Water each hour through the night and then call the Dr. in the morning. He said to be sure I was taking my omneprozol, it reduces the acid in the new stomach. Plus, he added another med to get rid of the acid. I hope you're doing better!!

Oh No Bronxmerci! I'm having very loose bms. Like the whole, don't trust a fart deal. Keep up on what you're drinking but if you don't get more fluids in you're gonna be dehydrated. :-(

Oh my gosh. That sounds amazing!! And Sherri got real live good in the hospital? !! Sausage! ? Seriously my surgeon is amazing, but come on dude, I want some chewable food, lol!

We have that kind of bed Beni. The head and feet go up and it vibrates, but.....brett sleeps on his side and you can't move each side independently, so I couldn't put my side up or he gets a kink in his back. :-)

My recliner wasn't a good option. I get lost in it, LOL Way too hard to get out of. I've been planted mostly in the living room on my couch with a pillow behind me and on either side and on my belly on top of the heating pad. Bedtime I have pillows propped all around me too. I did move to my side a little bit last night, hopefully tonight it'll be less painful. Just couldn't find a spot I wasn't hurting. I agree--we need some pics of Beni!

Oh yeah! I just tried like maybe an 1/8 of a cup of chicken broth and it was yummy.And I'm stuffed. But I'll definitely try the ramen broth tomorrow. :-)

You 2 look so much better than I feel!!! I've had more pain and discomfort since I've been home. I can't even handle broth at this point. Only watered down juice, room temp. Here's a pic of my belly on day 2 post op. The drain is by far the worst thing ever. It's all covered up with the bandage but I have to pretty much carry the bulb thing around or it pulls at the site. Cannot freaking wait until Monday to get it out!

Thanks for all of your thoughts. I called the Dr's office this morning. I was pleasantly surprised to hear I'm normal. Most of my pain is gas now. I hadn't taken my omneorozol either cuz I was so nauseated, but by not taking it, it was making me worse. They called another med in too for the stomach acid. I'm not taking pain meds cuz it makes me so sock and it's not going to help the gas pain anyway. I've had so many tearful moments my poor 8 yr old daughter is getting so worried. She just cries aling with me. But knowing some of you are doing so good a couple weeks out gives me hope! My honey just stopped home to change my drain bandages. Omg, not a good experience and it hurts so Flippin bad to cry. Can't wait to have that part done!! Auri- so excited for your size 18! !!! That's awesome! ! I feel like my belly is twice as big as normal so no weighing for me! And all I'm wearing is yoga pants and a loose tshirt. Can't handle any restriction on my belly area.
