We're you given blood thinner shots in your belly after surgery? I was given 2 a day to prevent blood clots. I wonder if that could be the cause of the nose bleeds? It might be something to mention to your surgeon just to see if it's normal.

Evening friends!! I was out and about alot today and my lower right belly is SO sore tonight. Ugh. Gonna take tylenol tonight. I went to my massage therapist tonight too to have her just work on my neck and shoulders. I can only imagine the weird position they have us in. Plus this sleeping on my back semi sitting up is killing me! I wonder how Beni is doing?

Oh goodness! Glad they got your drain straightened out. Gotta love that cath. So thankful when that came out. Good to hear you're up and walking about! Get that gas moving out before it causes pain. I had no has pain in the hospital. Mine was once I got home. No one to encourage me to get up and walk like the nurses did. :-) keep up the good work!

You're going to do so great!!!! I cannot wait to hear from you!! What time is surgery??? I'll be praying!! And yes, remember to walk, walk, walk....it'll push that gas out! Oh--and I had better luck with baby mylecon drops than the gas x strips. They made me nauseated, but of course at that point, everything was. :-)

I don't mean to make you more nervous about the drain! :-( sounds like a couple others had it out with a different experience than mine. It's over super quick, but pain meds might help.

Thank you!!! I was surprised! I hadn't gotten on the scale cuz my belly is so swollen I didn't feel like I'd lost anything!

Ooops, didn't mean to send that yet. I will say, it feels amazing to have it gone! ! It literally lasted probably 3 seconds. But not something I ever want to have again in my lifetime! :-)

OCTOBER 2014
So I had my 1 week check up today. Everything looks good they said. I've lost 9 pounds since surgery, 19 since I started my pre op diet. So.....I had my drain removed. I'll first say, they said it's different for everyone. Most say it just feels weird, some say painful. I certainly don't want anyone who has to have a drain removed to take my experience as what their experience will be. BUT. that was the worst pain I've ever felt in my life. I literally screamed, evidently tried grabbing the Dr.s hand (getting g blood all over my hand from the tube) and then bawled like a freaking baby for several minutes. I can't begin to describe the feeling of it "un-raveling" from around my new stomach. I pray I don't have nightmares tonight.

my gosh girl!! What a very scary ordeal!! I'm so glad you forced the issue and took care of yourself!! I think k I had 2 blood thinner shots per day while at the hospital. On the day I was being discharged, it was like 5pm and she came in with that syringe again. I said "what? Another one?" She said , " yep! Think of it as a going away gift!" :-) for me, only a couple were a bit painful. I think it depended on who injected it! :-)

I'm very impressed you're parenting alone and still healing yourself. I couldn't imagine. My youngest is 8 and she's my little mother hen, she's been a gem. And my 21 yr old daughter was also home from college for 4 days. Such a huge blessing to me!! Even my boys (14 and 17) have been making sure I'm not doing too much and hauling laundry for me, etc. My 14 yr old step son just says, " Amy, I don't mean this sound bad, but you just look awful. Go rest!!" LOL!

Beni, I've cried so much the last week, between pain and emotions gone wild---it may happen friend. But seriously, Don't be embarrassed!! The hospital staff expects it, and hopefully your hubby is a good support system for you. I am beyond thankful for my family. They've let me cry and cry whenever I need to. I had another bout of tears today. 99 % of my pain is from this damn drain and I am just so sick of having to change the dressing, which hurts and having it hang out of me.... wish I were stronger to handle it, but I'm just not. Remind me, will you have a drain?

I'm only 6 days post open so not a whole lot of help here. I'm not getting all my protein in either. My stomach feels so full constantly. What kind of foods are you on? pureed?
-
OCTOBER 2014
tacy, I had a few of those protein shots. Took 1 sip if one of them and threw them all away!! WAY TOO SWEET! I couldn't choke those down at all. I also get the tummy rumbling when I'm eating. I usually hit the bathroom right after I eat too.

I would always add fresh lemon to my water, I don't care for plain water. That's be a good question for your Dr. Layknee. Why the body reacts that way.

OCTOBER 2014
So I finally took melatonin at 4:30. Ummmm, note to self, don't take 2 like I used to. Omg, what in the world? I still feel totally drugged 5 1/2 hours later. And I have never felt drugged using it before. I've used it for years. And my belly is very upset. I must have metabolized it differently now?

OCTOBER 2014
Layknee- I just tried drinking some regular water. I had the same thing happen as I think you are. A tightness/cramping in the upper chest? I added some cranberry juice and I'm good now. But how weird is that?? I wonder what's up with that?
