:confused: I saw your message about the prices you have found in Louisiana. I am going (at the end of May) to Surgical Specialists in Covington their fee is $13,000. I have been impressed so far with what I have experianced with them. A number of people who went there for their surgeries also wrote to say that they were very happy with the out come and treatment. Am beginning to explore going to Mexico for the procedure. A bandster mentioned that her surgery cost $8500. I am paying $13,000 here in Covington. That is $4500.00 difference. Even with travel I could save $3500. Exploring that parmeter. The other issue is band success. I know that the success of the band is dependent on not stretching your stomach and not trying to subvert the process. But as one member of the banding group stated, "if I could control my eating I wouldn't be in this mess". Well I must echo that thought. If I could control volumes, which is required for banding success, would I need a band? Just a thought, no answers.

Hi I am relatively new to this group. My surgery is first week of May. I would suggest that if you have questions you should always ask the surgeon or his/her nurse. Ask if they fill day of surgery and what the basis of their plan is. My husband has been going with me to help ask the questions that I feel too self consious about. Questions about fills, slippage, food, intimacy.... Best of luck... Liz:)

How did you pick a doctor in Mexico? What are the pros / cons? I am going to a local surgeon and my insurance isn't covering any of it. If you go to mexico will a local doctor do your fills? Sorry for all the questions. My date is coming first week of May so I am still exploring all options. Thanks

Thank you for the kind and encouraging words. Its just what I needed to hear. I spent all morning reading the threads on "complications" and it was a bit unnearving. I am glad it is working so well for you. I am really hopeful that this will be the path to weight control for me. I am having mine done by "Surgical Specialists" in Covington. I just made my appointment for Surgical Specialists in Covington. Wish I didn't have to wait until mid April. They said it would be about three weeks after that before the lap band is done. Not impatient just don't want time to chicken out. I really need to get this done. I have about 130 pounds to loose. What are the first couple of days post surgery like? Can I really go back to work shortly after? :confused:
