  1. I am 5.5 months out and at 3 weeks out I have been out to dinner at least once a week/twice sometimes. I traveled at 3 weeks out, 3 months out and at 7 months out (upcoming), and what I can tell you is this: - It never hindered my weight loss, on the contrary, I weigh in every Sunday and I see the weight melting off the morning after being out on date night and having yummy food. - It is truly enjoyable, I get to try a little bit of this and that and not stuff myself. A bite or two is enough. - I TAKE MY TIME. I have been a fast eater my entire life and since surgery I am forced to slow down and actually savor what I am eating. This has turned date night dinner from a 1.5 hour affair to at least 3 - 3.5 hours and I would have lengthy deep conversations with the hubby which also forces him to slow down (the connection and conversation part can apply to whoever your companion is). - SHARE - I order one salad/entree with the person I'm eating with and I portion out what I'm having. - I make good food choices, I scan the menu and choose the best option of protein & Veg. I always start with my protein, a salad/veggies, then if I can I'll have a bite of a fun thing, either a tiny bit of carb or a bite or two of dessert (not always, whenever I'm feeling like it). But generally meals out don't get in the way of how I eat and what I eat. I think it is important to train your body and mind to be okay with eating out without it being a hurdle or a trigger. Living after weight loss surgery should include experiences like travel and food because it's a lifestyle and not alienation from what life used to be. I knew early on that I would not stop myself from eating out (I love love love dining out and trying different cuisines and restaurants) and traveling, it's just how I would do it in a way that doesn't involve losing control and hindering my progress or causing a negative mind shift. Happy belated birthday, I hope you had a blast!
  2. Not a before and after, but baked some high protein cheddar and truffle biscuits, topped with jalapeños. The whole house smelled amazing! Didn’t try yet but excited to take one to work tomorrow.
  3. That is very helpful! I appreciate how much time and thought you put into your responses. I am around one kilo away from my new goal which I think is too low anyway, so I want to shift to maintenance at the moment but I am scared, worried, don't know how and I think I'm developing a low key ED. I was out with my mom and sister for lunch yesterday and we went to this fancy Chinese place and ordered dim sum, Kung Pao Chicken and Tenderloin. Obviously due to restriction I had very little food but then they brought in a dessert platter with mini samples of desserts they were testing and I was really scared to even trying a mini bite of anything. My mom and sister went like you aren't going to gain weight if you have one bite of something you fancy! this is not healthy. I don't know how to shift gears for maintenance and I am so worried of weight gain but also don't want to be sick looking. I have blabbered too much but I really want to learn from people who have successfully kept the weight off for years but are not afraid to eat. I need to achieve that balance and don't know how to do it.
  4. First meal of the day (at 12:30 PM) and also post pilates meal. a slice of low carb protein toast, low fat cottage cheese, avocado, pickled onions, pickled serano peppers, chili flakes and sea salt. Ate half and felt too full.
  5. Hi @GreenTealael I used this recipe: Just used less oil to fry!
  6. Sorry I'm at 59.7 KGs last time I checked.

Weight on DAY OF SURGERY. 198/90 KG 4. Weight at 1 MONTH POST surgery 172/78.2 KG 5. Weight at 3 MONTHs POST surgery 148/67.4 KG I am at 5 months post op 131.78/59.9 KG 8. Type of Surgery (Sleeve, ByPass, etc...) Gastric sleeve
  8. Hi lovelies, Hope you are all well. Need your thoughts please. Had my VSG 5.5 months ago and these were my stats: Weight: 198/90 KGs Height: 168/5'5-5'6? I started at a BMI of 33, which I understand was on the lower side. Since surgery I have lost weight quite rapidly and I suspect its due to always being at a BMI of 22 my entire adulthood, I ate well, worked out and remained fit even after two pregnancies. My weight issues started 5 years back and then followed by a very bad ankle injury that affected my mobility that I reached my highest weight of 198. I understand that that where my body feels most comfortable at and its decided to take the chance to lose the pounds and run with it. My original goal was 154, and I got there very quickly then I changed my goal many times and settled on 127 which I am currently very close to. My surgeon seems to be a little apprehensive and has told me to try to slow it down and as per him it is very rare that he sees such rapid weight loss on a lower BMI patient. His original comment at 2 months was that the weight I had lost in 2 months was supposed to be my target at 6 months. Last time I saw him he asked me to up my calories to 1500 (currently at almost 800 on weekdays give or take, 600 on weekends because I apparently don't have much of an appetite on weekends). He ordered some bloodwork which I still haven't gone in for. I feel like my health is good, other than hair fall and the customary dizziness when getting up I am in fantastic health, I workout hard, I make good food choices and I prioritize my protein. I also look great if you ask me. My fear is I am losing too much too fast, and from what I hear and see, you don't quite stop losing until at least 12 months post op, which - according to my projections and calculations - will leave me at 110/50 KGs at 12 months out. That is way too low I fear and I do not want to look like a skeleton. Also I feel I have a huge restriction and I can't eat more than a few bites at a time, drinking water has become an aversion, I have to drink BCAA and sugar free iced tea to hydrate and tiny sips of water every hour or so. Other than that I eat very well, except I can't eat enough to maintain due to restriction. I am a little worried of my what will happen as the days pass and where I will end up. I don't want to get sick or too frail to work out and lift weights. I want to look good and feel good and I am not sure where my weight loss is heading but I am quite worried at this point. I also get comments on how I have lost half my body weight from people which is quite inaccurate lol but it's a complete shock when I meet someone who I haven't seen in some time, even my colleagues seem to think I'm looking too skinny. Sorry for typing so much, I thought it would be better if you have the full picture so its easier to respond. For anybody who's experience this, any thoughts?
  9. Dinner: Soy glazed chicken, spicy Asian cucumber salad, and garlic green beans. Ate all the chicken, had 2 cucumbers and didn’t touch the green beans. It was really good though.
  10. I feel I am losing way too much weight very fast. I am quite worried now.

  12. Made a fun summer salad Italian salad mix, cucumbers , olives, sliced beets, clementine wedges, cherry tomatoes, feta cheese and a whole nice ball of creamy burrata. I feel it needed a sprinkle of roasted almonds. Also I made a yummy dressing of aged balsamic, good EVOO, and lemon but had it without the dressing, I love salad without dressing, anyone like me? I ate some with a side of baked sea-bass.
  13. The naan chips look really good, do you make them or buy them ready made?
  14. Snack: I don’t usually snack but I barely had lunch and was ravenous. A mini slice of multigrain sourdough, smashed avocado, spicy pickled onions, crumbled feta cheese and red pepper flakes. Ate most of it, it’s quite fascinating how much more I can eat when there’s minimal protein in what I’m having. Around 180 calories. Oh and it’s my first time having regular carb loaded bread post op.
  15. I was never a breakfast eater and I've always done Intermittent Fasting and never ate my first meal before 12 PM (mind you I wake up at 5:30 AM). But since my VSG I get really hungry in the mornings, I have an oat milk coffee and wait to eat at 10/10.30 AM. My last meal of the day is at 6 PM so it explains the hunger especially with the tiny portions.
  16. Dinner (and post pilates meal): Crispy maple glazed salmon, garlic green beans, egg fried rice and a steamed seafood gyoza, with ponzu sauce on the side. Ate it all. Around 250 calories.
  17. Just to let you guys know that my stall broke and I lost 1.2 Kgs (2.7 lbs) the past two weeks (not doing anything differently). I am stocked and thank you all for your valuable advise.
  18. Just read this and I want to say good luck on your surgery today! I am sending you love and prayers, hopefully it all goes smoothly and I am positive you will turn everything around and live a great life!
  19. Hello Congrats on your upcoming surgery, hope it goes smoothly. I traveled 3 weeks, 3 months and will be travelling 7 months post surgery. It was all smooth, my first trip was with my hubby and kids, so I would just eat tiny bits of their food, second trip was with hubby only and we would always order a salad/veggie dish and a healthy/ish entree where I would eat a bit of protein and a bit of veggies and my hubby's mission was to clear the rest lol. As to what to pack, I only packed my vitamins and probiotics, if you can pack some high protein snacks like beef jerky, bars ...etc. then do that as I would get hungrier often due to all the walking and would need a snack, but where I traveled the supplement shops were always available so ... Don't stress it, enjoy your time and food. P.S. : If there were leftovers I would always give them out to anyone in need ❤️
  20. Dinner: Cheesesteak filling with caramelized onions, mushrooms and light cheese on Boston lettuce. Ate this entire one and 2 broccoli florets (around 150 calories)
  21. Dinner: Baking spicy shrimp pizza for the fam. The base is thin tortilla like topped with pizza sauce, shrimps, bell peppers, green chillies, cherry tomatoes, topped with a mix of cheddar and mozzarella. I will probably crumble some feta on top (I loooove feta). I might have a couple of bites once they’re done baking!
  22. I was very reluctant to post my before and after. I just don’t feel like I’m done yet? I’m 4.5 months post op and reached my initial goal at 3.5 months post op and went down further more so set myself a new goal weight, which I’m very close to, but thought hey, why not celebrate it anyway? I look good, I feel good and I should get to celebrate that. Every single one of you looks absolutely fantastic, way to go lot ♥️
  23. This salad looks insanely good!! I’m obsessed with salads and I’m pretty jealous RN. I will try to recreate a version of it tomorrow! Thanks for the inspo!!
  24. I actually am surprised myself, a month ago I wouldn’t have been able to eat 1/4 of that, but my capacity has gone up and I’m low key worried ?
