  1. Hi. I am sober over 3 years now and I was worried about the same thing as you are. I was banded on 4/22/09 and so far I've had no problems. The behavioral thing is what I was worried about the most. What I've done is to increase my AA meetings and keep busy. Much like i did when I was newly sober. I am now starting to find out that if I use the AA principles and focus on my health and spirituality, everything else is just easier. I'm also very pleasantly surprised that i can enjoy the taste of something good and good for me, and not overeat it. I am on real food now and I feel like I can do this. Once you progress to real foods, I think you may find the same thing.
  2. I was banded on 4/22/09 and I have the same exact issues! I am on pureed right now, and following the post-op plan to the letter, but i am so hungry sometimes!
  3. Hi again! I had waaay too many "last suppers" already and I am starting to feel like I am getting better at controlling and thinking about the food I am eating. Wow...we really are in sync with the dates. I am excited for you. I do have a bunch of questions. Mainly, How do I figure this sight out?? LOL..I tried to do a ticker on here with my progress and I can't figure it out. Also, how did you start your blog? I'm lost. You know, I keep telling myself also that by the time my son graduates in June, I'll already be on my way and probably will be feeling a lot better than I do now. I will be crying my eyes out! So, if you don't mind, I could use a little LB talk website "tutoring!" I hope you don't mind! Talk soon.
  4. I've been reading your blog for weeks, but this is my first time posting. I just got my date yesterday (April 22nd) and I am excited. It felt a bit like part of my life was on hold until I heard an actual date, you know? Anyway, mine has been an 11 month process. My seminar was 5/27/08 and my first appointment with the surgeon was on my birthday, July 18. Then I found out that my insurance company requires a 6 month process of dieting and clearance appointments. My 6 mos actually started on August 11, 2008. I was approved by insurance on March 2nd and had my weigh in at the office last Friday. I have 10 pounds to go and rumor has it that my doctor will refuse to do the surgery if the goal isn't met. My next appt to weigh in is 4/17/09, so from 4/9/09 until that day, I will be on a liquid diet. I can relate to your stories, B_G, and I am excited to go through the process with all of this support online. I've only told my immediate family and 2 close friends. Thanks for being honest and sharing all your ups and downs. It helps. It also helps that my date and my son's acceptance to college next year came in the same week! Much less stress now. You take care and keep blogging! Jill
  5. Hi. I am having my surgery 4/15/09. My surgeon is Adam Goldstein, in Voorhees. How is you progress since you banding? what have you found to be the most difficult things to deal with?
  6. hi everyone. i am on the preop diet now. The best drinks I have tasted are made by Worldwide Protein. They are premixed, in a can and really taste pretty good. I buy them at Trader Joes, but I am sure if you google the brand name, you can find other places to get them. I have been alternating the drinks with Dannon lite and fit yogurt once or twice a day and at night I mixed up one with a banana and it's delicious and filling. My surgery date is 4/15/09 but I wasn't as strict on my 6 month diet as I should have been, so I am extremely restricted now. My surgeon will not perform the banding if you haven't lost the weight he told you to in the beginning. Thank goodness the shakes are as tastey as they are! Hope this helps you. Good luck!
