  1. I'm flying from the states to India (2 flights 5+9 hours) on this Sat. (for a 5 week assignment). I was banded 3 weeks ago and have talked with my doctor about this, but I was more worried about support if I would have any complications once there. I have an appointment on Thurs and will ask about the flight in general. I do not have a fill yet, so I'm not as worried about some of the restriction issues that I have been reading about, but since I'm newly banded I should be worried about blood clots:ohmy:. Will let you know what my Dr. advises.
  2. Congrats! :tt1: Well done.......slow and steady is the best way to make life style changes. Here's to the new you.
  3. Hi All, I was banded on the 5th, been on liquids since. I'm hoping to move to mushies this week at my 3 week appt. I'm leaving Sat. for a 5 week assignment in India:ohmy:, so will be looking for some encouragement from abroad. I will be on mushies, soft foods, and transitional foods while away. I should be good with eggs and yogurt for breakfast, and plan to bring instant oatmeal and protein drinks for lunch, but will be struggling for dinner.:huh2: Any ideas are welcome.
  4. Hi, I was banded on March 4th and will be traveling to India for a 5 week assignment. I will still be on mushies and soft food for most of the trip, but will transition to whole foods by the time I return. I plan on taking instant oatmeal, protein power, instant hot chocolate and crystal light. Hoping to do eggs in the morning and supplements for lunch, but I'm struggling for how to handle dinner. Eating out every meal for 5 weeks will require some good planning. I'm hoping for some suggestions on food and meal strategies.
  5. Hi Foremark, I was banded on the 4th and also had diarrea (or loose bowls). I asked the PA about this and she indicated that this can be expected because of all the liquids and as long as it was not explosive I was normal. Good Luck

  7. Hi, I gave the Wii Fit to my husband last Fall. We have played many games, the Wii ski jump is my favorite. I'm don't have a id myself, but am going to create one tonight. I'm only 6 days off my surgery, so will have to take it easy, but I'm looking forward to doing something fun.
  8. Hello, I was also banded on the 4th. I'm still a little sore, but have been up and about, worked from home on Friday and d id sneak and drove to the store today......this not driving for 2 weeks is not going to work. I've been drinking crystle light, carnation instead Breakfast, skim milk, soy milk (with SF hot chocolate), SF Jello, cream of chicken soup, and write now a cup of tomato soup. Didn't think we could have pudding (can you drink pudding through a straw)? I do have watered down apple sauce to put my crushed meds in.......which is hard to get down due to the bitterness. I seems to be able to get the right amount of liquids per day, but I think I will struggle with getting all the Protein. Good Luck......let me know if anyone has more food suggustions.
  9. Hi, I too am going into surgery tomorrow. I’m a bit nervous, and have bitten off all my nails. Whenever you have surgery there will be risks, but don’t you think that obesity is a greater risk. I’m worried that you are so distraught; remember all Moms are going to worry. Good Luck.
  10. Hello all........I'm to be banded in Wilmington, DE on the 4th. I starting my Clear liquids today (2 days prior to surgery). I've done the Optifast diet in the past, so am aware of the trials and tribulations of the liquid diet........but this is not to say I'm totally prepared ........ I found that sugar free gum helps with the chewing (but beware that too much sorbital (sp?) can give on the runs :hurray:). Lets all please stay in touch with tips and tricks to get us through this journey.
  11. Hello fellow Delawareans........ I've just started on my journey. Had my consultation with Dr. Wynn on Oct. 17th and have scheduled my appointments to get my clearances. I'm doing the 3 month pre-op drill to attempt to get Aetna to pay for some of the bills. So, if all goes well I'm hoping to have my surgery sometime early March. I find this whole process frustrating. When you finally decide to really do something that will chance your life for the better you want it to start now..........not 5 months later. Any way, I will check in regularly to see how everyone else is progressing and let you know how my clearances are fairing.
