  1. I am currently on my fourth week and have lost 26 so far! I did not have a pre-op diet!
  2. I am 18 days post op and I have lost 23 lbs. I have been for the last two weeks experiencing body shakes, feeling faint and feeling very jittery early in morning and during the day and just a lack of wanting to eat. I thought it was low blood sugar but tested with a machine during this feeling and blood sugar was almost perfect! Has anyone else experienced this? i probably will call my doctor or dietician monday if it doesn't go away! Just wondering if anyone was experiencing any of these symtoms. Hope someone can help!

  9. Hey guys glad to hear all of you are doing well! I am two weeks post op today and have lost 18 lbs. only 67 more to go and my first fill is Nov 11. Keep up the good work everybody!:seeya:
  10. well glad to hear about your surgery. i guess by now your feeling pretty ok. i had an awful first week with the hunger and stuff, and at times thought i had made a terrible choice, but i guess your mental state at that time is not to secure so i guess that's what i was going through. now i feel i am finally getting control of this new lifestyle. per my doctor, i should be consuming liquids (thinned soup-no chunks-i thin it with chicken broth since it gives it a little more flavor and i usually eat about 4 ounces; pudding; yogurt no fruit pieces, popsicles, protein water-kellogs is great just a little pricey; pudding and of course all these are sugar free. you even half to watch the sugar calories in these even though they say no sugar, they still may contain some; i also have had hot chocolate sugar free of course and use skim milk. the first week i didn't want to eat much (or drink i should say) so i lost 12 the first week. this week i guess i have lost my hunger appetite and still have to force myself to eat and drink. At times, i get hungry, but not very often. per my doc. you should be consuming water and protein water at least 48-64 ounces a day to ensure you don't get dehydrated and food wise 3-4 ounces at a time in good liquid. my doctor has me on a 500 calories 30g of protein for the first 3 weeks and then i go to pureed food like cottage cheese, applesauce, mashed tators and a little thicker consistency at 800 calories per day 80 grams for the next 3-6 weeks. this is my diet, i know everyone varies from doctor to doctor, so i guess you should follow your doc orders. what do they tell you to do? Are you loosing weight fast or slow? I go for my first fill Nov 11 and i hear this is pretty painless but well see. hope your doing well, don't know about you, but this has been a major milestone in my life. i only had about 60 pounds to lose (i am 5'7 235 at surgery and now 217) so not to far to go. I'll pray for you that you continue to do good and keep in touch. i would love to know how your progress goes.
  11. I was just banded on September 29, 2008 and had a BMI of 34.8. I am 34 years old, 5'7" and weighed 235 at my surgery date. My co-morbidities only included slight sleep apnea, high cholesterol and reflux and none of them were major except my cholesterol. I was approved through BCBS and they paid all but $700 of my surgery, so there is hope. I to was unsure whether they would approve me, more less pay for someone who only has about60-70 lbs to loose. Keep up trying, it can work for you and it has been worth everything sooooo far.......for me. I am currently 12 days post op and have lost 18.8 pounds so far. Keep trying and will send my prayers that maybe this will work for you. I feel your pain and experienced the same feelings as you. Prayers!!!!
  12. It's been a while since I posted last and alot has happened since then. I am currently down 17 pounds from my surgery date of September 29, 2008 and finally feeling normal. Surgery day went well, no major complications, Got sick from the anesthesia, but that only lasted an hour or two and took no pain med once i left the hospital. The first week was really hell, with the hunger and gas pain, but now i am 12 days post op and feel like a million bucks. i had a couple of days of severe hunger about day 3 or 4 and finally figured out what my body needed. my sugar gets low at times with shaking and nervousness but I think that has finally subsided. feeling great and ready to start working out. good luck to all the lapband newcomers. it's really not that bad if you can get over the first week. see ya:tt2:

  18. Well went for my pre-op appt this morning and my surgery is officially set for Monday morning at 6:30 in the morning:eek:. I am so excited to be finally this close to my new adventure in life. I am a little nervous, not about the journey, but about the surgery in general. But I figure, two natural births, this should be a piece of cake. Gotta go see you in a few days.

  20. Well, officially one week until my lapband procedure 9-29-08. I have my pre-op tomorrow, and not sure what I am in for. ANYBODY KNOw what goes on?????:crying: Probably not much to worry about, but so excited to begin this journey. Getting a tad bit nervous about actual procedure, because I have never had surgery before. But I am willing to endure the pain to get to a new life. Thanks everybody for all the support. I'll hopefully post more tomorrow after I visit the doctor for Pre-Op!!!!

  23. THERE IS HOPE! Finally after 4 months of test and waiting, I finally received my approval letter today. It started back in June when I originally had my Lap band seminar and doctor's visit. After several test, and waiting 2 long months, I am finally scheduled for surgery on September 29, 2008. My pre-op is scheduled for September 23, 2008 and I couldn't be happier. It is a miracle I am having this surgery, due to the fact that I have a BMI of 35 and only two co-morbidities of reflux, high cholesterol, and few minor other things. Thank you God for this second chance at life. See ya soon with updates!
