  1. So I am six months past surgery. My initial operation was August 21, 2023. I was 328 on the day of, and 376 at my highest before surgery. I lost 20 pounds by 2 weeks after the surgery, and have not lost weight since. I had weighed 305 since then. I noticed my weight creeping up on the scale now, and I'm at 309 again. I will say, however, I have gone from wearing a 4x to wearing a 1x in shirt sizes, though have only gone down two sizes in pants 28 to 24. I am struggling with drinking water. I feel starving. I've noticed myself wanting to eat every few hours. Then when I eat I vomit, or feel nauseous and spend a good amount of time nearly throwing up. Whenever I drink water I get that pre-vomit spit thing that happens and my mouth just makes spit for like 30 minutes and I feel awful. I think lack of physical activity has kept me held back in terms of the stagnant weight, I spend most of my days in bed or sitting in a chair at a desk. Is there anything that has helped anyone, any slight tricks to fix me? I don't want to hide and say I'm doing all the things right I'm doing great anymore, I know I'm not doing the best and I am looking to find support in getting there.
  2. Thank you so much ! I was kind of waiting for some weight to fall off that exercising felt comfortable but maybe that’s what’s keeping me in trouble. After meeting with my nutritionist she told me to be around 1100 calories and under 130g of carbs. I don’t get anywhere near that number in carbs but I’m paying attention at least. My body genuinely hurts and aches so exercise has always been something I wanted to throw on the back burner.
  3. It’s so frustrating i wonder if for me something else is holding me back like pcos, I’ve had it my whole life. Im also curious if having the drastic weight loss pre surgery affected post surgery and has made it less significant. I’m just as lost and confused here but we’re lost and confused together! Have you tried asking about phentermine or another medication? Pre surgery mounjaro and phentermine really worked well for me.
  4. I get low blood sugar too when I drink enough water it’s frustrating it’s not something) I’ve had to deal with too much and it feels like I’ve just flopped from one end of the problems to the other without getting to reap the weight loss reward. Hopefully your stall breaks and that’s all it is, a stall. I recommend getting a tape measure and doing measurements of yourself at least bc I’ve been losing inches even if the scale is refusing to budge.
  5. I also feel like I can eat more than I should be able to. I have heard of others resetting their surgery by following the same post op liquid diet for a week and then soft foods for a few days and then normal again. I haven’t tried it but i am interested in trying it.
  6. Kind of yes and no. I met with my surgeon team and was told try to stay around 1000-1200 calories, 130g or less of carbs, and to be at least 80g of protein. They said they don’t know why for some people the metabolism reacts differently and changes greatly with surgery while with others the metabolic response is very minimal. They said obesity is a chronic disease that the body settles into. They said that the journey though is my own and that I shouldn’t be comparing myself to the substantial weight loss others have. I think it’s really hard to not compare sometimes though because many here get the surgery and become very healthy very fast. They are planning to meet with me again in about a month and will discuss various weight loss medicine additions such as ozempic, wegovy, metformin, topiramate, phentermine, mounjaro. It could take one or a pair of these medications together to get the metabolic rate to be where it needs to be for weight loss for me.

    Are these okay?

These two muffin recipes are practically the same, save for instead on the blueberry ones they have 100g of granulated erythritol instead of 60 brown 60 granulated, are they okay?

    Are these okay?

Thank you all! I've been doing one for breakfast typically as I was under in calorie goal and it had been stalling me. I've actually finally started dropping weight again. I'm typically hitting 1100-1300 now and am doing one protein shake and one to two meals consisting of a protein (steak, chicken, or eggs) and vegetables and sometimes more carbs (1/2 bagel).

    Bari Must haves??

hii kort, my surgeons had me doing the premier protein or equate high protein OR the fairlife protein drinks only, same as the pre-surg liver shrinking diet. they wanted me to *try* to get 2 shakes down a day (which got easier after the first several days). I also wanted to try protein2o which i got from amazon, it had the protein and was a water based drink. HOWEVER, i thought it was super nasty and couldn't get down more than half a bottle. Still have half the pack in my fridge. i was also allowed the sugar free popsicles but they dont have protein in them and the protein helps healing all the stuff they had to cut through and rearrange

    Overnight Oats?

i've really liked the actual oats overnight brand i can buy the individual bottles from walmart for 2.98 each, and then i add protein milk on top so the bottles have 29g of protein. the cinnamon roll is amaze.
  11. Sure, I was really distressed about the amount of food I ate two days ago I think it will be a decent example. 1 icelandic skyr coldbrew yogurt 1 cup coffee + sugar free cream 1 capri sun 4 oz of steak cooked in 1tbsp olive oil & minced garlic 1 chocolate premier protein shake 1 strawberry atkins protein shake (it's half the protein of the premier ones) 1 scoop vanilla isopure protein blended with 1/4 banana, 1 strawberry, 4 blueberries, 8 oz darigold fit protein milk 3 oz chicken, 1/4 cup macaroni this kind of is similar to a daily menu. the steak happens maybe once every 3 days, chicken is an every day staple. coffee is a one or two time a week option. yogurt is typically every day, but sometimes is subsituted with oats overnight bottles that are mixed with the protein milk. -edit- I'm stuck in this cycle of feeling hungry, then feeling guilty after I eat because I realize i ate food and I haven't been losing enough weight, then i don't want to eat again for a long time because I want to lose the weight, then i feel starving, then i eat, then i feel guilty, etc etc. It's a really shitty loop I'm stuck in.
  12. I know I've been tryin not to have too many but at least it helps with getting a little water intake when i do try to get down at least 2 a day though because otherwise water intake is next to none aside from the sip in the morning to swallow pills. Here's the label i think its about the same as if i were to use the sugar free flavor packets anyhow
  13. Do you think just going back to that pre-surgery diet for a week would work well as a jump start? The 1 - 2 cups of broth, 4 oz of protein, 1 cup veg, 2.5 protein shakes? The surgar free water packet flavorings and even the gatorade / powerade zero still give me the prevomit saliva problem T_T
  14. I find that even with adding the sugar free drink mixes it still is difficult. Using a straw helps a little. I do a fair amount of the roaring water capri suns these days. Milk and protein shakes do work out just fine. They still cause burning in my stomach but it's no different than the feeling of taking a shot so I'm not too worried about that part. I keep most things down easily that I've discovered sit well with me.
  15. Basically for dietary advice the nutritionist just recommended I get 100g protein/day and chew bites the size of a dime until they are mush or the texture of applesauce and to incorporate new foods and keep trying them if my body rejects them. For the most part, things that it's not content eating and make me sick are anything pork and most type of noodles. They're just too heavy and dense.
  16. Thank you for the response summer, The water has always been a problem since the very beginning. It ALWAYS causes the spit thing to happen and its awful. Even if it's just sips. I wish I could just live connected to an IV. At my last meeting with my nutritionist 3 months ago they seemed disappointed that I had only lost 20 pounds since the surgery and hadn't lost any more since then. It was disheartening and has led me to live in fear of my next appointment with them, I feel like they're just going to be disappointed and shame me again and make me feel not good enough. It sucks.

♥ I'm a gamer! AND I LOVE SAILOR MOON! I'm so thankful that I didn't have to use the respirometer after the sleeve. Apparently if you get the sleeve you don't have to, and if you do the bypass you DO just because of how much longer you have tubes and what not in your lungs during surgery. ♥ i hope your snacky cravings subside soon !!

you got this! I think during recovery the initial hospital stay and then the first 4 days post-op are the hardest! if you're in any pain any time don't hesitate to ask for meds! Also having to be in the beds at my hospital hurt mega bad so they were able to give me lidocaine patches and ALSO the medicine made me big time nauseous every time i took it so just take it slow ♥ you're going to do great

Also-- I felt super bad and guilty for eating a whole bowl of oatmeal with a banana and was thinking, "oh maybe the surgery didn't work for me i'm ruining it" etc, BUT then I had to take into account and remember that I used to eat 4-6 packets of oatmeal and still feel starving. It's a mind over matter game at this point for me and it's not the easiest to recognize that it's OKAY for me to have things. ♥ Anyone else going through this?

Hey everyone who's recently or will be getting in september, if anyone is a fan of pumpkin spice latte flavor I found the most amazing delightful protein drink. I used to love love getting the white chocolate caramel pumpkin pie mocha frappes and this tastes like EXACTLY like it!! I was so skeptical that it wouldn't be good so I only bought a 4 pack but I have to buy more asap. I found it at walmart. While I was on the liver shrinking diet I LOVED the cafe latte flavor from premier protein but after surgery and coming home I find it tastes very eggy and cannot stand it anymore. So glad to find something I enjoy again taste-wise.

yep for me getting fluids to comfortably go and stay down has been not the greatest thing. the thin pureed foods are what's working well at least though. Just can't feed my pets at the same time or I'll end up not wanting to eat anymore because my brain thinks it looks the same😂 i also got weird side effects. most people have constipation or trouble with pooping afterward. i straight up day one and on have just been having diarrhea so i let the surgery team know and they said it's alright to not take any senna or milk of magnesia (praise the lord).

I want buddies too T^T I'm currently 4 days post-op. I originally wanted the rxy bypass but my surgeon said my spleen was tooooo big and it would have been too risky, they opted to switch to a sleeve mid operation. I'm still very happy with this choice and hope it leads to health and happiness for me. So far, I think it's been surprisingly difficult to get liquids down. Texturally the nicest thing has been sugar free pudding mixed with some protein powder. Very helpful for when these liquids just seem to want to walk right back up :C At the hospital they gave me 100% apple juice and then when i went home they called to see how I was doing with fluid intake and got upset that I was having apple juice. Just make sure it's 100% okay when you go home after surgery I guess x_X
