Happy Easter, how did you do with food and candy???
I think I did well. I had a party yesterday and the only bad thing I ate was some chips. My friends and I are all trying to lose weight so we tried to keep it as healthy as we could. Easter (today) I had only 1 hurshey's kiss, 1, small bunny that comes in the bunny money mix, and a mini cadbery egg. I didn't know that they came that small, I was excited, LOL. I had ham, mashed potatoes, that I only ate 2 bites of, corn and 2 home made perogies, for dinner. For Breakfast, I had 3 small pieces of keilbase (I spelled that so wrong), 2 small pieces of ham, and 2 cinimon buns. Later on after dinner when people were eating pie, I had taco dip. It is low in carbs, lol. All in all, I would have to say that I am proud of myself. I didn't finish my dinner and I only took small portions at breakfast so I wouldn't throw anything away, that drives my FIL nuts, LOL. I did great in the candy department because I could easily put away a ton of chocolate, and I stayed away from desert :biggrin1: . How did everyone else do???

How did you feel when you woke up from your banding surgery?
I woke up with them making me move around for some reason. I had a lot of gas pain but only soreness from the incisions. I had to pee right away. I had no catheter and had to use a bed pan 4 times before I got to my room, and when I was trying to go it took forever for it to come out, LOL. I was in recovery for 5 1/2 hours waiting for my room to be ready. It was a room where radiation therapy was being done so they had to clean it per protocal and I think that it takes 3 hours or something like that to clean. My doc told the nurse that I was on clear liquids but she wouldn't give my anything excepr an ice chip here and there. The hospital was not familliar with my surgery, I was the first one to have it done here. I had some IV meds for pain, then she gave me morphine and I immediately got nausious and she was ready with meds and it went away. Finaly I got to my room and they let me get out of bed to use an actual toilet, I was so glad. Once out of bed I didn't get back in. I slet in a recliener that night and was discharged by 12:30, 3 hours after my barium swallow. My pain wasn't too bad, except the gas. I took my pain meds every 4 hours for about 4 days then took it as needed. By just over a week I wasn't taking it any more. I still have tenderness in my port area and I will be 1 month post op tomorrow, but it feels more like a bruise than anything. This was my first surgery and I thought it was a piece of cake. They couldn't believe how much I was up and walking around. I am down 8 lbs in a month. I'm happy and I hope it continues. Good luck to you.

Road to Onederland Challenge!
Go Tricia!!!! :clap2: I have stayed the same. I think my problem lies in the chinese food that I had this weekend. The sodium made me retain Water and I was up 2lbs at 1 point. My weight is like 198.2 or something like that, so at least it wasn't a gain that stayed with me. I won't be making that mistake any time soon, lol.

VanGaurd fills
I have just found out that I have a 4cc band, at least I think, LOL. He said the size was 10 mm, but I think he ment to say 10 cm. He is new to the band buisness. Just so that you know I am totally ok with that and was excited to be his first LB patient. I go for my first fill 4/27 at like 8:30 am. I can't wait.

Road to Onederland Challenge!
I get my first fill on the 27th of this month early in the morning. I'm excited, but I wish it were sooner. I didn't know what size band I have and my doc replied by saying a 10 mm band, I am pretty sure that he means 10 cm, am I right? That holds 4cc, am I right on that as well? He is new to this and we are learning together, LOL. I have been asked to run a support group for the band as well. It makes me want to meet my goal even more.

VanGaurd fills
I was wondering I am being filled under flouroscopy, so would the doc fill the band until it looks like you have restriction or will he just fill it a little. I don't know exactly what band I have but my doc showed me a pic of the VG band after my surgery so I am pretty sure that this is the one I have. My doc is new at this but I totally trust him. I wonder if my new found knowledge of fills from reading and reading will be of interest to him.

Question about the weight loss
Thanks. I guess I was just wondering if I am losing fast now even with no fill, will it keep going like this. I guess there really isn't any 1 answer to this question. I was hoping that the weight I lose in the first month might be a sign of how things will be in the coming months. Thanks again

Question about the weight loss
Ok, I have just read the thread "My doctor's a crackhead" or something of that nature where a lot of people were talking about their weightloss per month. I am 3 weeks post op tomorrow and have lost 8 possibly 9 lbs by cutting back on my intake. I have no fill but feel that I do have some, if ever so slight, restriction. I eat 3-4 small meals and usually start each day with a slim fast or SF instant breakfast unless I make scrambled eggs. My doctor has advanced me to soft foods. My question is, will I keep losing at this rate especially when I add 30 or more minutes of excersize a day? Or will the loss slow down quickly? I know eventually I will hit a plateau, but am I only losing like this because of being post op? I was never on a pre op diet and was only on liquids for 2 days after so my MD's PA says that the loss is real loss and should be gone for good. Will I have a pattern of loss, like some of you say that you lose 6 lbs a month. I know that not everyone is the same, I guess I am just looking for an actual to count on, LOL. I know that it is up to me, but I was just wondering what everyone else thinks or knows about the loss in the beginning. Thanks in advanced :biggrin1:

6 days post-op and exhausted
Give yourself time, you are only 6 days out. I was tired as well. I took a week off from work then went back to school a week and a day after. It was exhausting but my doc had me on mushies right out of the hospital. Good luck I hope you feel better soon.

Obesity and marriage problems
I also can feel your pain. My husband has said that he would leave me if I didn't at least start on the weightloss journey and stick to it. That was a few years ago. He said that he wasn't attracted to me and I got down to 145lbs from 185lbs. I gained it all back plus. As I approached 175lbs we started being "together" less, if you know what I mean. I always said that I would never hit 200lbs and if I did I wanted to be shot. I feel so aweful and my asthma is worse. My husband always says that he loves me and that he doesn't want to leave me, now, but he has a hard time mentally being "with" me. And I am lucky if it happens once a month and it is frustrating! I feel deeply for you and I hope it all works out for the best. (((((((((hugs))))))))

Road to Onederland Challenge!
I made 198 today. I have to set a goal by may 9th. I will say that my mini goal by may 9th is to hit 190. I am set up for a fill on April 25th I am just waiting to hear from the office tomorrow with a confirmation. I was advanced today to soft foods. Past, rice, canned veggies, exc. I am so excited. Since I have been on mushies my MD's Pa told me that the weight loss is real so I hope that it is gone for good! LOL. I am a little upset with myself though. A month before my surgery I was 196. I could kick myself for gaining the weight back I had lost during the cheerleading season. Good luck everyone, I know that you can do it!!!!!

So hungry today and can't take it!!!
My MD advanced me today so I won't feel bad about eating something that might stick with me. I guess my problem is that before the surgery I hardly ever got hungry because I ate every couple of hours and I didn't control my portions. Now I am only trying to eat 4 small meals and I am staying within the serving sizes. I was under the impression that I could only eat like 3 meals a day and it seems like 4 smaller meals is a better idea. I just expected to be fuller longer that is why I got the band, LOL. I guess that comes with my first fill. For some reason I feel guilty when I eat now and I know I shouldn't. Now that I have been advanced to being able to eat soft foods I think I will be fine. Thanks everyone fr your supportive words and advice it means so much! (((((Hugs)))

What was I thinking?
I didn't tell anyone except those close to me about my surgery untill I got it. I didn't tell my Dad or my step mom till after I had it done. I was afraid of what they would say. My Dad was supportive and wanted to know more and my Step mom the fitness nut was not as supportive and thought that I could have done it myself with some disapline. I have a portion control problem and that is why I got the band. She was ok with it and stpped harping on me quickly though. Every one else that I told was supportive. I have told a lot of my class mates and co workers and they are all very supportive. I am proud of my band and I am very ok with talking about it because not many people around my town do not know about it. I actually gave the info to a class mate who is going to talk to her doc about it. So, I guess I am trying to increase awareness too. I really wasn't going to tell anyone and now I tell everyone but I am adamate I am not telling my mother or her side of the family, they just don't need to know, LOL. (Long story)

So hungry today and can't take it!!!
I have not had my first fill as I am just over 2 weeks post op. I believe that I have a 10 cc band and I don't believe that he put any fill at all in it during surgery. I have been struggling with hunger but have been able to stop my hunger with small meals. I have been on mushies since day 3. and have been slowly able to eat more and more at a sitting but try not to. I have lost 7 lbs but I am getting frustrated with being hungry all the time and today was horrible. I took my kids to a pancake breakfast and I did eat almost all of the 2 pancakes that I had. I made them mushy and chewed real well. When I got home about 2 hours later me and my kids were hungry again so I just had something small and than I just ate dinner of my mushies. I had mashed potatoes and beef stroganoff sauce. I have started lightly excersizing, would the increase in excersize increase my appitite? I am sorry to rant, I am just getting so frustrated, I am trying hard to adhear to the small meals because despite the fact that I have no fill yet I can only eat a small amount at a time, but I am hungry a short time later and I hate it. Does anyone have any advise or words of wisdom? Thanks for listening.

Road to Onederland Challenge!
I have been hovering between 200 and 199, but I have been at 199 for 2 days straight so I think I made it but I would like to still join and maybe maintain or lose a couple more lbs. I have not had my first fill and have very little if no restriction yet. So, can I join you????

New Member Seeks Reassurance
Congrats! My post op pain hasn't been that bad. Taking it easy in the first couple of weeks is a must. I was put on mushies when I left the hospital and I am doing good and down 6lbs. Good luck to you!
