  1. Hi all I thought I would post today as this is my bandaversity.Yep one year ago today I was lying on a slab getting my insides poked about by Dr Chris de bruyne.Weighing in at 23st 2lb (324lb).As of today I am now weighing in at 16st (224lb).So 100lb in one year to the day I could not have asked for any more. The journey has not been easy but well worth it .I did not really get restriction until 7-8 months after I had the op so a lot if it was will power and dieting. Before I had the op I weighed up the options of me not having surgery to having it .The positives were out numbering the negatives what was the worst that could happen. I could die on the operating table or I could die with the excess weight I was carrying or with all the problems you have with being obese. Some of the things that have changed In my life since I have lost the weight have pleased me .I can now go to the swimming with my kids which I never done when I was at my heaviest as I was too embarrassed . I am also able to fit in the seats on roller coasters now where a year ago I would never have even tried .I'm now like a big kid when we go to the fun fair.We have even booked up for Orlando for next June due to the weight loss.I'm also able to take the kids round the the park on the bikes which they love. They have a new dad now which is one of the reasons I had the op .I don’t want my children’s lives to pass me by with me not being able to do things normal dads do. I have also set a date for my wedding which I would not have done if I had not lost the weight. Its only taken me 8 years to set the date lol. I have lost at least 10 inches from my waist 12 inches from my chest and 3 inches from my neck.So the only negative is I have had to buy a full new wardrobe of clothes. Although I have not lost all the weight I want too if I had to stay at this weight I would be quite happy. The last time I was at this weight I was 16 years of age. So for anyone thinking of getting the band done or is just starting the journey I would say it can be done go for it. I have been using this site for a year now and it has given me so much inspiration reading other peoples success story and looking at the before and after photos really spurned me on . I only hope my story can inspire someone thinking of getting the band that it can change your life round and all for the better.
  2. Hi mia yes every one has to do a low fat diet two weeks before there op as this helps shrink the liver. It is beneficial to your self to do this as it makes it easier for the dr to do the op when your liver is smaller.
  3. Hi paul it was very straight foward. If you get the package with dr chris de bruyne and his assistant fredrick all you have to do is book your own flights .The package includes your hotel your op and all the taxis you need from your hotel to hospital and back plus to the airport. They book all this for you so there is no problem with lanuage. If you type in the search bar on this site Anyone know of Dr De Bruyne Chris or clink on this link it should take you to a page where every one has had the op with him .Plus if you read back on the previous post all your questions will have been asked.
  4. Hi jersey bean the after care is relay important the band is not filled at the operation so you need to go on a monthly basis to get your band filled. The first fill is done from week four after surgery usually week six and every month after that till you have proper restriction. Some people can get restriction after a few fills but not all i had about six or seven before i got any sort of restriction.Hope this helps any other questions just ask we have all been in your position.
  5. Yep sure am thats the last i tell you lot about my cross dressing.lol
  6. Hi i went from beer to guinness .I dont know if yous get it in the us.Plus i drink scotch on the rocks.
  7. Hi homecare ye shes noticed a big difference but then it didn't bother her when i was so big. Loosing all this weight has even gave me the confidence to set a date for our wedding last week which i would have never done when i was a my heaviest. So she is delighted. Plus i even fitted in to her size 14 skinny legged jeans the other day.Not that i was wearing them out just testing for size .lol Cheers tin and carriejess. Well done tin your going in the right direction hopefully you will get restriction and it will be a bit easier. When i started on this site it was hearing other people success stories that gave me the inspiration that it can be done.So i hope it does give others at the start of there journey some encouragement that the weight will come off .I have struggled some months and lost my way a bit but you just have to get back on track and get on with it.
  8. Thanks for the comments ladys much appreciated.I'm going to try and get a ticker on freckels. Very well done homecare thats brilliant weight loss i think it gives you a boost when you start to see the weight shifting.Keep up the good work.
  9. Hi all just thought id post my monthly weigh in results. Only lost 4lb this month i was hoping to loose seven to take me under the 16st mark but its still a loss. The thing thats made me most pleased is thats me reached the 7st mark before my bandversity so well chuffed.
  10. Hi oliverdog if you go with wls group and wendy they provide advice on nutrition on what you should be eating and the dos and donts of the bands and wendy will give you loads of advice.I only went to dr chris for one fill so cant realy comment on his aftercare. Hi debby i dont think there will be any problem having a drink.I had a bevy a week after been banded and there was no probs.
  11. Hi mandy have you not got any restriction yet?I tend to stick to a high protien diet as i find this helps me .If i stay away from foods that have alot of carbs the weight comes off faster for me.
  12. Well done great weight loss:thumbup:
  13. Hi debs when i got banded i have never felt pain like it i thought someone had danced on my chest.I thought what the hell have i done but rest assured it does ease off. After the first day when i went back to the hotel i thought i wasnt going to fly the pain was that bad.But a good day and night rest and i felt alot better.Going for the flight i felt a bit fragile but once i got home and had a good night sleep in my own bed the pain relay eased. And every day after that i felt better and better. So bear with it the pain will ease just keep taking pain killers he gave you . All the best bobo
  14. Well done joe on getting banded. That will you be on the loosing side now.:frown:
  15. Why do you not just do it with him coming in from behind (doggy style).I dont think there would be any problems any way as long as he is not putting all his weight on you.The port is sewed on your muscles so you shouldnt have any problems with it flipping.
  16. Its basicly going back to what you do when you have a fill .Your on fluids for a few days then mushes then progress on to solids and its suppose to get your band back in to shape .If you google five day pouch test it will come up and it will tell you how to do it.
  17. I think after a few weeks your band slackens off a little as the bigger the portions you eat the more your band is stretched.I have tried doing the five day pouch test and after the fifth day you have more restriction as the band goes back to the size it was when you got your fill. As i tend to stick to high protein meals i very rarely feel hungry. Its only when i go back on to carbs i feel hungry so i stay away from them.
  18. Hi home care im booked in for the morning i think its half ten but i will need to check.Do you think this fill will get you to where you want with restriction?
  19. Allright gary hows it going m8.?How the restriction are you at your sweet spot yet.? Are you still keeping up the exercise regime.I cant seem to get back in to it .I keep taking my notions for a few weeks then it dies off and i cant be arsed.lol
  20. Hi home care im still here just sitting in the background reading the posts. There is loads of newbies now just letting them chat away as i did when i was getting banded. Im booked in with wendy next tue what time are you in at.? Happy bandaversity carriejess you have done brilliant reaching your goal in a year. You should be well chuffed with your self. And hello to all you newbies out the just banded or about to be banded any questions just ask.
  21. Ye im just about to go out to the entertainment so will catch up with the posts in the morning,:tt1:
  22. Hi mate ye i am away i have brought the laptop and my dongle so i can catch up. Well for my breakfast i had two eggs and a handfull of grated cheese for scrambled egg in cheese. For lunch i had two pork burgers .I dont know why as i could only eat one . And for dinner i had two spicy turkey steaks which i could only eat 1 and a half.I know it sounds realy boring but it works for me i dont take any veg or anything else with them. As im away with work the other guy im away with dose not know about the band .So i feel as if i need to put more on my plate that i would need to at home .But as i said before im still struggling with fluids and cant take big gulps now i have to sip or i will slime. What is your portion size like.?
  23. Hi homecare no i was not there on tue as i think im at my sweet spot if not a little bit too much.Im going to book up for the oct clinic as im going to germany in nov and im not going too take any chances with flying.I still strugle with drinking water so theres no way im going on a plane and it might get tighter.Do you know what date the oct clinic is on?
  24. Thanks homecare ye im feeling alot better about myself now alot more confident. The best feeling for me is getting in to clothes better.Im looking at a pair of jeans and thinking im not going to get my fat arse in them and i can its brilliant. My workmates think im looking a lot better and so does my friends. Its a good feeling not being the fattist person in a group now i actully feel "normal".
  25. Well done on been banded bev i thought the pain was terrible when i got banded.I thought what the hell have i done but the pain eases away day by day. I dont think you get confirmation from the hotel oliverdog you just turn up and fred will have told them your name. You wont have a fill for six weeks after your banded so you can book up after you come home. I weighed in this morning for my monthly weigh in and i have lost 7lb so well chuffed with that.I relay struggled at the start of the month as i had a load of party's to go and we were away for a weekend break but it has speeded up in the last week or so I'm glad to get to seven lbs with a bad month behind me.The only thing is I'm away tomorrow for a week with work and there will be lots of temptations again so i think i will struggle again the start of this month.
