Need Lap Band Buddy / Mentor Banded 10/5/2008 San Diego, Buddy or Mentor please!
Hi Helen, As you can see I'm not to far away from you in O.C. But yes, I agree the support is huge in success and understanding all the changes in food, energy, attitude etc. I was banded on 9/3 and have lost a total of 27lbs:mad2:.. it's been hard loosing slow. I have had 2 fills and still really don't feel any restriction. I can still eat and too much :Dancing_sorry: My hardest thing has been eating slowly and chew, chew, chew... But I'm trying. I can honestly say I have only had two bad days:eek:.. and they were completely my fault. Trying to mix it up on my foods also. Thank God for eggs :Dancing_wub: Just try and exercise at least 3 days a week... I bought a treadmill recently. You have a great attitude and I know you will do well. Stay in touch and we'll share our journey. Regards, MartiXLardy

Need Lap Band Buddy / Mentor Please help me get a jumpstart!!
Hi "C" What's your name ? First I am also 57 and was banded on Sept 3rd of this year. I have lost 26lbs as of today and it's been difficult getting the fills. I just had my third and I still don't feel restriction. I am eating the right things but my portions are to much... I need to eat less at each meal. I'm not a Protein person so that did'n't satisfy me... I have been as of late having an egg scrambled with Salsa on top for Breakfast. Sometimes I add Weight Watchers cheese.. I often have sliced deli turkey wrapped around string cheess.. I like that for a quick fix.. it's quit filling. Lot's of Soup and yogurt with fruit also is a good quick fix.. Hope this helps don't get down on yourself. Just get back on track and TRY and walk at least 3 times a week. That was hard for me too but I'm in Calif so the weather is like 95 right now so no excuse right... Keep me posted and we'll share ideas Sincerely, MartiXLardy

I don't know what type of work you do but I had my surgery on Wed and went back to work on Mon....:tt2: sore but I sit at a office job too. Not allot of walking around. Wear the band or girdle they give you it's great support and helped allot. Especially for me with sleeping. It is very important to follow what they say. It makes all the difference in a truly bad  experience or great. Also, don't over do the morphine meds. Seriously, makes you sick and you don't need that on top of a surgery... Your boss should be more supportive. You will be around for a LONG time and then she won't have to do your work :rolleyes2: To our health :tt1: MartiXLardy

You go girl:thumbup:... I'm very happy for you joybell. I too am 57 and was banded on Sept 3rd... good birthday present:eek:... I am so happy I decided to do the lapband and that it was approved by my insurance... thank the lord. I am down 26 lbs as of today and it's been 2 months... I feel so good.. It's amazing the pre-op liquid diet just purges all the junk from your body and felt better then... I have good days and bad but usually the bad are my fault... eating to fast or too much.. It's a whole new way of eating and it takes time to adjust.. Keep us posted. Stay in touch and know you in my prayers. Sincerely, MartiXLardy :rolleyes2:

time off work
Hi Bret, I like a gurdle. It's streach like and has velcro. Kind of like a kidney belt if you have ever wore one of those. Motorcycle riders do. Really helpful. I am active but not a work out person. I bought a treadmill just before surgery and use it. I have lost 26lbs in 6wks and have another 70lbs to go. As far as figuring out how to do that stuff... Me too... I don't know how and it's soooo cute. I want to learn also so if you find out how to do the little tracking thing please let me know. MartiXLardy

time off work
Hi Bert, No problem for me. I had my banding on a Wed and went back to work on Monday. A little difficult with stairs but that was it. Be sure to wear your band for at least a week really two it helps support the stomach area really well. I cound not have slept without it. It was actually much easier than I had anticipated. Don't do allot of anesthesia. We were able to give ourselves the little shot button you know...Don't do it unless you have to. It will make you sick. Good advice I got from my banders and it paid off. I listened to people sick all night. But I didn't...Whew... Not fun. Good Luck, take care and keep us posted. MartiXLardy

Anyone older than me?
Hi Bandsters, I am on cloud nine.... I had my first visit to the doctors since Sept 3rd banding and have lost 14 lbs... I cannot believe I've lost that much in 2 weeks... My self esteem is off the chart already and confidence... I now have to prepare for my first fill.... Sept 30th. I'm scared to death :tongue2: :scared2:as I learned for the next two weeks how IMPORTANT it is to eat tiny bites and very slow... It will definately be a challenge for me as I'm like "older than dirt Lynn" ... I have always eaten way to fast and to much... Please keep me in your prayers as I do all my Band Girls and Guys... Thanks, MartiXLardy

Anyone older than me?
Hi Cleo's Mom, Yes, I am 57 also... two weeks ago. Came home from surgery on my birthday... Not fun. But it went so well. No nausea, no vomiting nothing. No problems walking with 2 hrs. Don't over do it with the pain killer... that will definately make you sick. Had surgery on Wed and went back to work on Monday no problem... Slow alittle but no real pain. Wear your girdle it really helps allot with sleeping. I too was never heavy young. It's all adult on set and middle age. Good ole menapause. I never binged either. I don't even like sweets at all never have... my down fall is meat and potatoes... and having an Italian man who loves to cook and feed me... Stay strong, keep the pre-op going and you'll do great. Sincerely, MartiXLardy
