Do you have a December Date?
2b-banded, Don't goive up. You are alsomst there only 2 more weeks!! remember warm socks. you won't feel like bending over , so have a helper or one of those grabber tools if you drop something. And stay ahead of the pain - use the meds to stay comfortable. It is a lot weasier to stay on top of the pain than to try to reduce it . Let us know how you are doing !!

Online support vs physical support group
I'm with Florida Pete, Both methods help. I have gotten a lot of support on-line , anytime I tried. But the Support group in real life re- energizes me. i get to see others struggle through the same issues here, where I live. We hear speakers talk about methods i really hadn't considered ( i.e. an OT spoke about muscle stretching and warming up 0 It is all non-judgmental. went Tues nite and went out for supper later with 3 others. What fun and we all carried home doggie bags We laughed about our families, and talked abut real issues that lead to our over eating. i am willing to seek any support i can get. I cannot sit at the PC and do this all this e time. One thing I realize from all this is how isolated I have allowed myself to be. I have to reach out and go out.

Scared little (okay, not so little) newbie.
smartwencrazy, I'm only 2 months out and anxiety is NORMAL. I was in tears 1 week prior to surgery when at a WLS group. It is fear of the unknown. LBS will work. Restlessmonkey stated it perfectly. I know someone at work w/ the same surgery and a hernia repair to boot. Her stomach is smaller, even 6 weeks after. When you recover from the surgery, You will be able to find it, but no one will be able to see a lump or bump.

Do you have a December Date?
Joann Marie, Thanks, I was using thickened soups ( milk based) ff yogurts, etc ;not empty calories. But find i can consume more than 1 c. Also found I can eat things like a cookie, a donut hole and am not stopping at one ... - I am reverting to my old habits and have no restrictions. Am a mess. Tried not cooking to stay away from food but then there are only carb loaded foods around when I need to eat... Will start cooking again and freeze items- Will try cheese and focus on protein again..

How forthcoming are you to people when they ask what you did to lose weight?
yarddawg 72, I agree. Cannot thank God and the Doctors to get me this far. It is up to me, to continue. the Word Spread fast where i work and some have asked about it. My Dh was the least knowledgeable ( he needs one too) and expected problems but there were none. Maybe someday, he'll get tired of being left behind.

The nosey people find out anyway. The ones who struggle with the same problems need to know others have done it . rude people don't deserve a response:cool2:

Every situation is different. the snide comments come no matter what. Once , pre WLS I lost many # s and was still 50 # overweight. and some peer was concerned I was losing too much weight!! The doom and gloom sayers- the ones who say you don't want it bad enough - haven't been there. Have one coworker who has lost over #100l and has 30 # to go ( for the last several months) She tells everyone to do it here way ( BTW, she ate a whole fruitcake at Christmas so it'll come back.)

All, I told everyone. Ran into a co-worker who showed up at the local support group but she doesn't want anyone to know 9 but that area seems to spread facts and rumors far and wide) ... Well, I let folks know- if it comes up- work with nurses and get asked all the time. My Bro's in-laws, my cousin , and another co-worker are thinking about it..They are curious how it is going.. So far so good. But have to wait for insurance paperwork to get my 1st fill - which kind of slows down the momentum...

Valentine's Day Weight Loss Challenge/goals
ukcatsfan, I hear you.. hit a wall, too. Also have a sinus infection ,. The meds make me better but also keep me up and make me hungry. A BAD mixture.. Am so tired, don't want to exercise either ... I am trying to stay out of the kitchen.. Plus they changed insurance companies at work since the surgery and the new one is fussing about covering the fills.....

Frustrated
kjp1012, I did lose post surgery, too; then stopped. Right at the soft food stage, too. Did contact one of the support group staff at the hospital and went over my notes -- 1. the soft mushies are going to make it harder to lose. Weight loss goes slower as your food consistency becomes more normal. 2. until you have a fill, this is all pre-treatment. It is great you are losing but don't worry. 3. Exercise does help (but with the ice, I had to alter my routine) 4. Expect to average only 1-2#/ week - that's an average, not an actual loss- i've been stuck for 3 weeks - but increased exercise and dropped calorie intake for a few days and It's coming off- slowly:smile: Hang in there

Any December '08 Bandsters?
ChuckandVicki, Sliming as it was explained to me and as i experienced is mucousy liquid you will regurgitate if you have trouble consuming something. (i.e. too big an amt, too fibrous, too sticky, too advanced for your diet). Had it once, would rather not have it again. You are in discomfort - It doesn't go to your stomach through the smaller opening. The body will create mucous to try to dislodge it. If that fails, it comes up. if the food is still lodged- it comes up also- It isn't the gut wrenching stomach flu vomit experience, but stiill smells and Still no fun. If done often/intensely, can dislodge the band-
