  1. I wanted this to be easier to find. I had to look around to find threads about this Center of Excellence. I have been schedualed for my first visit on Oct. 10 with Dr. Hirai. Share with us comments, complants and insights and smiles to what lurks behind those doors.
  2. Good for you to getting all the information you need to make an informed decision. In my process I took in that I have lost many pounds but never have been able to keep it off. The lap band is only a tool and will only be effective if YOU have the knowledge and support to pull it off. Best of luck on what ever you choose is the best route for you.
  3. Well after doing my homework and going to the seminar I have my first appointment Oct. 10th. I work only 1 mile from the hospital and clinic and my boss says I can use my lunch hour anytime of the day so I hope to have allot of momentum. I'm scared and happy at the same time.

You know you are a bandster when....

I am a newbie and just started the process to be banded. For the last hour and half I laughed and cried knowing that 1) there are people out there just like me. 2) That some people can do this with laughter while struggling to keep sane. Thank you all!!! Laugh and the world laughs with you; smile and the world wonders what you are up to! Keep SMILING!!!!
  5. Go to their general find a physician site BlueCard Doctor & Hospital Finder Put in the first three letters of your card #. If you have the winning combination on the next page you will see; "Blue Distinction Centers" on left side 2/3 up the page and bariatric centers are there. This way you at least know if they cover it and how close are you. Also check with customer service at your insurance company. It may be hidden under a general medical policy. Mine was hidden under " medical policy #379" but it spelled out EXACTLY what proof is needed to be approved.
  6. Greetings, salutations and all that fine stuff: I have been doing homework for the last few weeks checking sites like this one. Talking to prior banders and talking to my insurance. I have decide that lap band is the system I will use for my BMI 46.6. and 325#'s and my known eating (bad) habits. I have a doctors appointment on the 6th to get the needed referral to the local bariatric center of excellence in Federal Way, WA. I hope to have this done by the end of October. I currently see very little possibility of dancing with my daughter at her weeding or holding my grandchildren. That is why I consider this surgery.... 4myLIFE
