Hey girl hey!!!! How have you been?!?! I know what you mean by the last pounds not wanting to come off!!! Its been a total struggle but I have 6 more weeks to make it happen.. Im so afraid of what will happen if I cant loose these last 9 pounds myself, are they not gonna go through with the surgery??? Anyways, I almost forgot you were two weeks ahead of me. 4-6 months of waiting time?? Thats whack!!! But hey we waited this long huh?? So what other locations do you have, or is Harbor UCLA the only one??? I could of sworn there was somewhere else as well. Well as stated before Im contimplating on The Sleeve vs. The Band... Any suggestions from anybody???

riley4183, wow your process looked to be only 4 1/2 months, how did you get so lucky with Kaiser??? Im chugging right along. My first class was Jan 27th and I wont finish until July 7th... I've lost 13lbs so far and I feel good about that, I just wish the process would speed up a bit, it must be a bit different down here @ Kaiser So. Cal....

When attending the orientation @ Kaiser Panorama City in Southern Ca, they mentioned that they would do a tummy tuck @ 5-10% of the cost but it will have to be a year after your surgery. I remember them talking about possible stomach rashes and minor skin infections because of the rapid weight loss, being the reason why they offered it.
  5. Where u @ Gyrl??? :)

  6. Well lets see, Im in the process of starting my 6 month orientation classes with Kaiser. They start on the 27th of this month. And I live in the "Valley" ... Tarzana is the city. Now see, thats the catch 22 that Im confusesd about....:cursing: No one has told me. . Becaise you dont wanna loose too much weight, because your BMI will be lower, then again I think they want you to loose weight so surgery wont be a hassle (Getting through the fat:eek:). Plus I think they wanna make sure you know how to stick to structure, with a well balanced meal, making sure this is not a "quick fix" but a tool to a healthier lifestyle.. Oh it sounds like Im a poster child huh???:cursing: Well this is my take on the "to loose or not to loose" topic.
  8. Why the sleeve? Why the change?? What have you heard about the sleeve? Gimme the pro's and cons... I believe Kaiser covers it too are you still with Kaiser?? Girl gimme details..... :)

Nothings much new with me.... Just a lot of waiting and getting restless:Yawn:. So my 6 month classes will be starting on the 27th of Jan:thumbup:. But..... the classes at Panorama City are every Tuesday.. From Jan 27 till the last class on July 7th. Wow!!!!! Every week!!!!. So. Cal is way different than No. Cal., Seems like No. Cal. have fewer classes, lucky them:smile2:.
  10. Whats up Girl.... yeah I know its been a while since Ive been on here, thats because Im at a stand still with my process. I thought I was gonna be able to get into the Nov classes but they said I was too late so now Im gonna be in the glasses that start on the 27th of this month... Which by the way, are every freakin Tuesday rain sleet or snow!!! Thats crazy that they arent once a month like my sisters is.. She goin throught the same surg only she with United Heathcare. So Ive been layin low till my classes start... Trynna not think about the longevity of the wait... I was hoping to be done by the summer ya now.. Oh well cant have everyting... :)

Well its not as fast as I thought but Im still on track... I wasnt able to get into the Nov 3rd Psy/Diet class, they scheduled me for Jan 27... I know... A long wait huh, well they dont have classes in Dec, because of the holidays. Anyways I did see the bariatric dr and he said I qualify my BMI was like 41/42, with a few co-mobidities.... My PCP is in Woodland Hills. His name is Dr Reyzin, hes the best!!! Keep ya spirits up everyhing will work out it just takes a lil time :whatchutalkingabout Good luck
  12. Hey There.... Oh its ok no big deal, just make sure you are adimant with your PCP and let him/her know that you fully understand that this is not a quick fix, but ita a tool to help you on your way to a health new life!! you kinda gotta stroke them with words... And let them know that you have tried other options , but they just didnt work. Always include that you have tried excersise in the past and this really and trully may help you. Plus they should see your history of being overweight and the co-morbs you may or may not have. everything should be ok, just be confident and keep your head up, it should be fine. Ill add you as my friend ok?ad

CONGRATS goes out to Trompuda.... I told you everything will be cool. My Orientation was last night and yes they said %) BMI im over it. I wont fully know until I talk to the Bariatric Director, sometime this month or next month. The pro-op classes start Nov 3rd. Its a long process, but as we all can see evryones process and waiting time is different.

So is it safe to assume that only Kaiser So Cal requires its patients to do a 6 month pre op diet? Because it seems as if you guys get in and get out real quick, and from what I gathered at my orientation last night, is that I meet with the bariatric director within the next month then The pre-op nutritional classes start on the 3rd of November, no time sooner, so Im lookin at, at least late April/early May when classes are complete, then they said surgery is at least a month and a half later, soooooo Im talkin JULY!!!! Geeze Louise!!!! Marathon to say the least!!!! SO CAL KAISER is full of it!!! But the good thing is at least you will be fully commited and ready to have a wonderful life change, with all the time that it takes.. If anybody agrees/dissagrees please feel free to give your outlook on the timeframe. Thanks

So heres my latest entry... So I went for my orientation @Kaiser in Panorama City. (In the Valley) anyways as already told, the class was generally geared for the bypass and the sleeve, but a few topics were discussed about the band, like how it not that great a choice, and how not too much weight is loss yadda yadda yadda..... But the real whack shhhhh was the BMI of 50!! That's right..... Can you believe that!!!! What about all this stuff about BMI of 40. With no co-morbiditiesand under 40 with at least two co-morbidities??? What the french-toast??!!!! And I made sure to double check the BMI range, and yes its true.... What am I to do??? Wait a minute Im gonna call them now to triple check on the BMI. Ok well the Educational Nurse said no you dont exactlly have to be at a 50 BMI everyone is different. So what happenes next is that I have to meet with the director of bariatrics, Then the classes start on 11/3. Now mind you, the bariatric director desides if this is a good idea or not... So many hoops to jump through... . Here is the marathon I am running, even though my PCP gave my referral only three weeks ago. I guess its day to day with Kaiser....

They did say that I can call periodically 2 c if any one has cancelled, but classes are held once a month and seats only 60 people. So Im gunnin for a Sept class if Im lucky...I guess u can say Im ok with Kaiser's process since all of this started only 8 days ago when I received my referral, took my labs and got my orientation date. Now if only the 6 month pre-op etc was faster:smile2: Boop
