Hopefully this won’t be the case for you, but my BMI was originally under 40. It was like 38, but I was diagnosed with sleep apnea and put on a CPAP machine. The insurance still denied my surgery because my sleep apnea wasn’t “bad enough”. I guess they follow a chart of some sorts, so definitely find out what your insurance considers “ bad enough” to qualify as a comorbidity. Best of luck with everything!!

Congratulations! I just got my approval date this morning for February 1st after like 3 denials!! I am so excited but now I’m freaking the hell out and want to eat everything because I’m thinking I’ll never eat/enjoy food again even though I know that’s not true!! Almost like I’m nesting!

New to the app!! Waiting on approval from insurance. Was told I will hear in the next 10 days. Even though I am told I qualify, I am still so nervous that it will be denied!!! Praying for approval and looking forward to this new journey of health!!

Possible surgery date!!!!! Just got a call from my doctors coordinator. There was a small hiccup in the approval process. Apparently I now don’t qualify by BMI… Missing it by like 6 pounds, but I do have Sleep Apnea. The insurance people did not see my sleep apnea diagnosis and the coordinator forgot to put the medical clearance info in, SOOOO, she has resubmitted and we should hear back in the next 5 days. She has tentatively given me a date of November 18th!

No, because I was told they would have an answer within 5-15 days from the 18th, so just going to wait!

KimA-GA, I’m getting the sleeve. As of today, no word from the insurance!! I’m trying to keep myself distracted but nervous as anything!
