  1. Hi All, I thought I would share my resent adventure in traveling after surgery. Husband and I spent the holiday in Maui. As we all know when flying there is that 3 oz limit on liquids which I was concerned about. How am I going to get my proteins, water, pills and vitamins all in with the total day was spent flying? Here is what I came up with before traveling and it worked for me. For protien: I found Bariatric Fusion sells the powder in individuals packets. I also packed in my carry on 2 One protien bars. I picked up a yogurt at the airport to mix the powder in it. On lay overs I was able to find a couple places that had healthy food choice, like the Grab and Go. For water : I took with me a portable water bottle filled it up before got on the planes. I also asked the stewards to fill it up with water and ice while on the plane and it was no problem at all they where happy to do it. For Pills & Vitamins : I got those weekly pill cases one for morning and one for evening. Filled them up with the prescriptions I need for the week and stuck them in my carry on. This included my Biotin and Probiotics. I take fiber powder everyday and was able to find Walgreens carries fiber sticks. I got a box of those counted out how many I needed for the trip and put it in a carry on. I used a back back as my carryon and was able to get everything in there that I need. In Maui there was a lot of fish options which was great for me I love fish. I lot of the time we just split a meal as they where so big and I don't eat alot. I also picked up some individual low fat milk to put my protien powder in. This is usually my breakfast so it was nice to be able to stick to my routine. I was nervous about traveling and staying on track but once I found out that I could take with me what I needed it was a load off my mind. I was able to really enjoy our vacation. I hope this is helpful for any of you who are thinking of traveling or getting ready to travel. Melody

Working from home after gastric bypass

I work from home as well FLA allowed me to take 6 weeks. My doctor also recommended 6 weeks to help get use to all the changes your body will go through. I was doing great no issues so I returned to work in 4 weeks. I have an awesome employer after I went back to work I still got tired. They were ok that if I needed a nap I could go take one and just make up the time. I would recommend that you STRONGLY pay attention to how your mind and body is doing before going back to work. For me the first 2 weeks where rough, but things slowly got back to normal around the 4th week for me. Good Luck!

    old habits

Hi All, I am 4 months post GS and I have been falling back into old habits. Like eating out of boredom. I thought I had addressed that behavior earlier prior to surgery. But now it has reared its ugly head again. I feel like I have a little demon in me telling me to eat that muffin, eat that cookie, try that cake. I can't seem to shake it off. I have I have been trying to drink water or tea when I get the need to eat. It works sometimes, but I have had 4 days where my little demon had full on control and I didn't loose any weight for two weeks. I guess the good part is I didn't gain any either. I am trying to figure out where this negative eating is coming from. I am disappointed in myself with my lack of control. I am open to any idea you all have that can help. Thank you, Mel

    Strange Letter from Insurance

I agree call your insurance company. I had similar request from United Health once I asked them about it all I need to do is have my doctor submit the additional information that United Health was asking for. Weird part is I had already received my surgery approval letter. Best of luck to you. Melody

Thank you to you all. I do think therapy is a great idea. Need to remind myself this isn't a journey I need to take on my own.
  6. HI, Has any one had stomach flu after your Gastric Sleeve? I ask because I came down with the Stomach flu on 10/26 and I am still dealing with painful cramps and Diarrhea. I ended up in the emergency room for dehydration and pain. They ct scanned and my sleeve was fine. Hydrated me up and sent me home with medicine for the cramps. Anytime a eat anything it goes straight through me. I have had stomach flu be for and it was no where near as bad as this. I am really not getting much support from my surgent on this either. I went and seen my regular doctor and same, Stomach Flu. Seems odd that I have had it for 1 week now. I'm I being overly concerned? Is this normal? I have been stressing out over this because I have lost 4 lb in one week, because everything just runs through me. Any help would be greatly appriciated Thank you!

    Stomach Flu

Hi, I eat yogurt. Today has been better cramping is minimal and I'm not doubling over in pain. Still have loose stool, but doing better.
  9. Hi, Does anyone have a list or a site to recommend that has high fiber foods you can eat on a bariatric diet? I rather the "old fashion" why of softening my stool then using a bunch of pills. Thanks in advance!

    High Fiber Food

Thank you all. I too love pea soup. I'll also try the seed in my shakes.
  11. Thanks @Tomo. I also noticed you had your surgery on same day as me just a year ago. I hope I do as good as you have done in the last year or so. Amazing!
  12. Hi All, I am a newbie here had surgery on Aug 4, 2022. Lost a total of 55 lbs. So I have this weird question ( or maybe not). I am working back up to a mile a day walking, but what I noticed when out walking is I seem to be off balance. I was told this is common because your stride is adjusting to the weight deferential along with muscle loss. I do not have an ear infection or anything like that. So all seems weird, had blood test done all is good. Seen my doctor all fine there as well. Has anyone else experienced this?
  13. Thank you all. It is good to know I am not totally weird. 😁

    Under Boob rash

This may sound funny but I had boob rash for years. Once I got it cleaned up by using over the counter yeast cream for the vagina. I then put deodorant on under my boobs and have never had the rash again. It has been well over 10 yrs now. Keep trying whatever you can to get it cleaned up. I feel your pain!
  15. Hi All, I am new to this forum and glad I found it. I just had surgery in August. Since I started 1 1/2 years ago I have lost a total of 55 lbs. 36 lb was right after surgery.

Is this normal? Does it go away?

When I started eggs I could only eat a bit or two. I found waiting say 20 to 30 minutes and try another couple bits helped. I did this with all new foods I tried. It made it easier for me. I made sure I was not drinking right before eating
